Nissan Sentra Fuel Pump Diagnosis and Repair DIY
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2020
- Recently my girlfriend's 2007 Nissan Sentra died on her while she was driving to work. The symptoms she described seemed as if it had run out of gas. After verifying that it did indeed have gas, I dove into some diagnosis, which you'll see in this video that lead me to believe the fuel pump had failed. This video shows you some very basic troubleshooting as well as how to replace the fuel pump in any 2007 - 2012 Nissan Sentra.

Dealership was going to charge me about $800 to do this. Just bought a fuel pump and having my guy friend change it out for me. Thank you so much for uploading this video!!!
Glad to hear the video was helpful! Good luck and hopefully you're back on the road soon!
Haha I found myself identified with your comment. My girlfriend has a 2013 Sentra and it died on her at work last week and I highly suspect is the fuel pump. I already ordered it at the dealership and will replace it for her. I'm watching all the videos I can to tackle the job
This is a great video, it helped me change out the fuel pump in my daughter's car in about 45 min. That includes the cleaning, before removing. There was a lot of dirt on mine. i brushed it first then blew it out with some compressed air then hit it with brake clean. one thing i would recommend is to change up the points your trying to hit the ring from. i found i was able to get it on and off with about 10 hits each doing this with a large screwdriver. Thanks again for the great video.
Perfect timing for this to pop up on my recommended vids as i will need to tackle this job on my 2009 in the near future. Glad to see it is a job that could be done in under an hour from the looks of it.
One of the better videos on this replacement I have seen on here. Many thanks for saving us all good money.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear it was helpful!
Great video. I love that you included the diagnostics
Thanks!
What a fantastic video, my friend. I'll be tackling this job on a 7th gen soon and if I had any doubts of the process, this video cleared everything up. Thank you
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. Good luck with the job!
Thank you, excellent demonstration
Glad to be of help!

AWSOME video ty brother 🤜🏻🤛🏾
Thanks!
dude, you put out a great video that went A to Z with no mysteries. i've got my replacement fuel pump in hand and can't wait to give it a go. thank you!
Thanks! I hope your project goes smoothly!
Really good video. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the feedback!
Good video bro👍 my wife's car cranks but no start & no codes. I'm definitely going to remove rear back seat & check the pump.
Thanks man. That definitely sounds like a fuel-related issue if there's no codes. I'd suggest removing the back seat and listening to the pump for any noise when the ignition is on. Normally it will prime for a few seconds. If not, it's likely dead.
Dude you’re an absolute god amazing video gonna do all of this tomorrow to see if I can’t fix my girls 2008 Nissan did the exact same thing as this one
Good luck!
@@FoulNews hers might be done for I don’t have all the tools you do to test compression and stuff but tried spraying some starter fluid in the throttle body with it open and it still didn’t want to fire up went a little faster but didn’t start it up I also changed all the spark plugs still doesn’t seem to be getting any spark to want to start up at all just cranks still could be the fuel pump?
@@imax3d252 Have you tried a code reader on it yet? It might have some shadow codes or some info on what's going on. I'd also check to make sure that there is spark as well.
Doing this tomorrow wish me luck!!
Good luck 🤞
My guy!! Thank you!! For this video and the black thumbs up at the end 🤣
I'm glad you found the video helpful and enjoyed the thumbs up lol

Good video
Thanks!
I have a evap code check the fuel cap tightened and today I fill the the car to the max and when i was parked I smelled gas im gonna check this tomorrow to see if there is a leak on the pum i saw fuel on the tank looked a little wet thanks
Do you know where the Schrader valve is on this vehicle? Where you hook up the fuel pressure test gauge? Thank you
I'm not sure if there is one on this car, but if there is, it might be on the fuel rail. If not, then I'd suggest using an in-line fuel pressure tester. The rail has a standard quick connect fitting on it. I'm not sure if it's a 3/8 or 5/16 though.
My car stopped on the freeway. I hope it works for me. THANK YOU
Oh, that sounds horrible! Hopefully this does the trick for you!
yo good video I was finna buy a pump for 334$ at auto zone thanks for the link and question is the fuel filter connected with the pump?
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful! That's correct, the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly.
I would like to know where the fuel filter goes in this Sentra b16?
The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump bucket assembly that was replaced in this video.
How has this amazon aftermarket fuel pump held up for you guys long term? Any issues or codes after install? Thinking about changing my sister's out in her 08 2.0 but concerned about the cheap price of the one in the link some other aftermarket ones are close to $200.
So far it's been going strong without any issues whatsoever fortunately.
Hey man, I have 2007 Nissan Sentra and just starting to randomly die, I had it working for about a week running good until it died again while driving, I have taken it at 80+ mph for about 40 mins running great and I have brand new fuel pump installed just last year, it turns on and runs great can a fuel pump go bad after a year? EDIT: I checkout out the pump and it seemed to be running good what I notice was the connector that goes to pump, it has one of the small ports burned and If I pushed on it the pump would shut off, do you think that’s the problem I could have? Thank you
If that connector is burned, I'd suggest replacing it. There may also be something wrong in the fuel pump circuit if it's causing the wiring to melt or the new pump may have an issue causing too much of an amperage draw, which could cause your symptoms.
What was the initial error code that you were getting, Also can you put up the link for the part you used
There was no error codes present for this. Just the symptoms of cranking and then starting on starter fluid. The part I used was: www.amazon.com/MUCO-Electric-Assembly-Sending-2007-2012/dp/B0777K51CJ/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-drs1_0?cv_ct_cx=2007+sentra+fuel+pump&dchild=1&keywords=2007+sentra+fuel+pump&pd_rd_i=B0777K51CJ&pd_rd_r=9fbacd97-df4e-4070-addf-60fc35329f6b&pd_rd_w=semI3&pd_rd_wg=vMSVc&pf_rd_p=c33e4373-edb9-47f9-a7e6-5d3d6a7a4ad0&pf_rd_r=AX884Q6FA8EQQQ2B3VV7&psc=1&qid=1607481265&replacementKeywords=fuel+pump&sr=1-1-5e875a02-02b1-4426-9916-8a5c26cd5a14&vehicle=2007-67-899------------&vehicleName=2007+Nissan+Sentra
question, I have a 2010 sentra, this is what is going on. Start the car and works without a problem, but as soon as is regular temperature, I turn it off, and immediately try to turn it back on again and it doesnt do it. just have to wait to cool down and then it works not sure what it is. looks like fuel pump?? or not
It could be a number of different things. What happens when you try to immediately restart it? Does it crank without starting or does it not crank at all?
@@FoulNews no it doesn't try but I just have to wait for at least 10 min and then starts,
@@javi8435 Check your main ground cable, which is by the passenger side motor mount. Typically when those get corroded or break, there's not enough of a return path for current when the engine is up to temp to engage the starter properly. Also, check any other ground faults as well.
My Sentra 2010 jerks while pressing gas and at idle randomly, car turns off. I've changed the spark plugs ignition coils, air intake boot, replaced both oxygen sensors, and got a new muffler and put in fuel injection cleaner but car still does these things. They are annoying. Is it possible it's the fuel filter or fuel pump? Oh I've also had the maf sensor changed
Same problem for me with my 2011 sentra
@@BMulaEnt fixed? Same problem here.
Mine was doing thing. I changed spark plugs, ignition coils, throttle body, maf sensor. Currently check engine light still on. My next move is to change flue pump.

Oh btw you need to change maf sensor or throttle body sensor. Mine is not cutting off anymore. Maf sensor are pretty cheap, easy to install. I did it myself.
How do you take the disk out it’s giving me a hard time🤦🏽♂️
One of these may help. If not, the long screwdriver and hammer trick works too. amzn.to/3LLpXOP
Hi my pump receives 12 volts for only 10 seconds the stops, then no voltage? Hence car runs 10 seconds then Dies?
That sounds like the fuel pump relay could be bad. I'd test the relay to verify.
@@FoulNews Where is it located? Thank you
2007 Nissan Sentra
@@deborahcarruth8766 If I remember correctly, it's located in the fuse panel in the engine bay by the battery.
@@FoulNews Thanks
Mu retainer ring doesn't want to come loose.
Try using some PB Blaster or WD-40 around the ring. You can spray it right underneath the tabs on the ring itself and let it soak in for a little while. Then the ring should be easier to move. If it's still having trouble, you may need a larger hammer or you may need to use an air hammer.
When yal showed the praying mantis that was it for me ima head out 😂😂😂 jk
That's the ac line, wtf?
I don't believe I had to even touch the AC line in this vid.
The plugs are brand new with maybe 10,000 miles on them....lmao!!! Id change them every 10,000 miles! They are pretty worn out at 10,000 miles
The service interval is between 60,000 and 100,000mi for these motors. When I replaced them around the 65k mark, there was no significant wear. If yours are worn down at 10k, you might have some other issues or you're using the incorrect plugs.
I swap plugs every 500 miles cause of a turbo plus nitrous in a 388 stroker thats mainly at the strip but does see alot of street too. But on my turbo'd daily, its about every 10,000 miles
I could kiss you
