Their called blackpink, because they have a "black/dark" and "pink/feminine" side to them. Most of the time, when they're performing on stage, you'll see them as charismatic women with a lot of swag, hence the 'black'. On the other hand, when they're off stage or are talking with their fans, they have this bubbly and cute side to them, thus the 'pink'. Just wanted to make it clear, because someone didn't explain it correctly.
Their concept is actually 'Blackpink' only. As YG said before to describe his new girl group, "mixing two color into one name, they are a group who would break stereotype, with their own unique style." If we are going to conclude that the songs with more girly touch, belongs to 'pink' and more bad ass songs to 'black' side then that means we are sticking to the stereotype or to what's normal, there will be no uniqueness anymore. In all songs actually, there is always an amazing mixture of two colors, and even on some, the color black is not being different with pink in terms of symbolism, and the color pink is just as dark as black in terms of hidden meanings. For example on this song, this is surely giving off so much bad ass vibes but if to consider all things on the background, we could notice how everything aside from the vibe is all girly. Another proof to say their concept in here is actually "Blackpink". Also another one, all the girly stuffs (from outfit, to accessories) are all used to battle against anti-feminism, it means that all these girly things or 'pinks' are not just representing for something cute but for something strong. Also the pink color they mostly used on their Mvs were bright pink, and bright pink (if you knew) actually symbolizes 'rebellion' or strong wanting of having a revolution and that means their 'pink' is just as dark as their 'black' in terms of symbolism. Their concepts are always either 'black is pink' or 'pink is black', simply call it "Blackpink". They are after for the change or revolution, they are after for something unique by breaking stereotypes, and so they need to be something more unexpected, they need strong style, and 'blackpink' is more fitting than just 'black' and 'pink', like a fusion makes stronger impact than division. The only group, that I know, dividing their names into concepts is only Red Velvet, meanwhile Blackpink combines both side of their names into one strong concept. Both Black and Pink on their name means revolution according to some ancient beliefs and rebellious organizations. Probably why their new slogan and originally supposed to be their slogan from the very start was called "Blackpink is the Revolution". They planned it to be this way from the very start. To be honest, when she first came in Korea, she's like foreign to the country. First reason was because, even though she's Korean, it was still her first time going there as if she's a foreigner. Second, she don't even know how to speak Korean at first, only some basic words due to her parents are both Korean and they sometimes had Korean conversation at home, she only learned few sentences through listening them talk at each other. Lisa is even more knowledgeable on speaking the language and can understand it more (even now) 'cause she studied formally through books. Rose is really from Australia, she's originally a citizen there. By citizenship, she is New Zealander-Australian, by blood she is full Korean.

mhm.. i did like your previous reactions and i’m not sure anymore if it was like this in the other ones as well, but you all really talked a lot throughout most parts and it seemed like you paid no mind to the music and rather concentrated on what was going on in the video, which i find sort of disappointing since the song is really good. it felt like you missed the entire second rap verse from Jennie due to being too concentrated on talking about the glitter tank. of course i’m no one to judge if you actually listened to the music since i don’t have your ears or anything, it’s more about telling what other viewers might think and what it seems like to us :)

Most of the time, when they're performing on stage, you'll see them as charismatic women with a lot of swag, hence the 'black'. On the other hand, when they're off stage or are talking with their fans, they have this bubbly and cute side to them, thus the 'pink'. Just wanted to make it clear, because someone didn't explain it correctly.

As YG said before to describe his new girl group, "mixing two color into one name, they are a group who would break stereotype, with their own unique style." If we are going to conclude that the songs with more girly touch, belongs to 'pink' and more bad ass songs to 'black' side then that means we are sticking to the stereotype or to what's normal, there will be no uniqueness anymore. In all songs actually, there is always an amazing mixture of two colors, and even on some, the color black is not being different with pink in terms of symbolism, and the color pink is just as dark as black in terms of hidden meanings. For example on this song, this is surely giving off so much bad ass vibes but if to consider all things on the background, we could notice how everything aside from the vibe is all girly. Another proof to say their concept in here is actually "Blackpink". Also another one, all the girly stuffs (from outfit, to accessories) are all used to battle against anti-feminism, it means that all these girly things or 'pinks' are not just representing for something cute but for something strong. Also the pink color they mostly used on their Mvs were bright pink, and bright pink (if you knew) actually symbolizes 'rebellion' or strong wanting of having a revolution and that means their 'pink' is just as dark as their 'black' in terms of symbolism. Their concepts are always either 'black is pink' or 'pink is black', simply call it "Blackpink". They are after for the change or revolution, they are after for something unique by breaking stereotypes, and so they need to be something more unexpected, they need strong style, and 'blackpink' is more fitting than just 'black' and 'pink', like a fusion makes stronger impact than division. The only group, that I know, dividing their names into concepts is only Red Velvet, meanwhile Blackpink combines both side of their names into one strong concept. Both Black and Pink on their name means revolution according to some ancient beliefs and rebellious organizations. Probably why their new slogan and originally supposed to be their slogan from the very start was called "Blackpink is the Revolution". They planned it to be this way from the very start. Lala Lila Rose is just Korean by blood, but she was born in New Zealand and was raised in Australia all her life since 7 yeas old, the only time she came to Korea was when she trained under YG for 4 years, its almost just her sixth years in Korea now. To be honest, when she first came in Korea, she's like foreign to the country. First reason was because, even though she's Korean, it was still her first time going there as if she's a foreigner. Second, she don't even know how to speak Korean at first, only some basic words due to her parents are both Korean and they sometimes had Korean conversation at home, she only learned few sentences through listening them talk at each other. Lisa is even more knowledgeable on speaking the language and can understand it more (even now) 'cause she studied formally through books. Rose is really from Australia, she's originally a citizen there. By citizenship, she is New Zealander-Australian, by blood she is full Korean.

mhm.. i did like your previous reactions and i’m not sure anymore if it was like this in the other ones as well, but you all really talked a lot throughout most parts and it seemed like you paid no mind to the music and rather concentrated on what was going on in the video, which i find sort of disappointing since the song is really good.
it felt like you missed the entire second rap verse from Jennie due to being too concentrated on talking about the glitter tank.

'black' embodies boldness, talent, swag, tough live persona, powerful dancing also that hiphop vibe of their music.
while 'pink' embodies girliness, feminine, softness, pretty, relatable, and that pop side of their music.
so basically blackpink is the two sides of them, that are often seen as contradiction in the society (like when you are talented, you can't be pretty and vice versa), but are embraced by them to show to the world instead.
this concept of contradiction is very apparent in their music video for "whistle" (I HIGHLY recommend you check that out). the music, visual, outfit, and symbolism is based on their two very opposite sides🌌
