Why be in a rubbish car for two years when you won't even save any money. The cost of fuel and tax will probably outweigh the depreciation which will probably make the Honda cheaper in the end. You are forgetting that he can sell that car in two years.
I did a video on this and tried to work out how long it would take to catch up with the expensive car in terms of running costs etc - it would actually be quite a long time, so I'm not sure it is actually long-term cheaper to own more expensive cars with better fuel economy etc!

I just bought my daughter a £1000 2004 9n Polo 1.9 GT Tdi for her first car, for her the insurance was only £300 more than the 1.2. I'd rather she had the extra power for those safer overtakes, and she's not a quick driver so hoping she won't abuse that extra power.
Cars With JB debating getting it mapped, takes it from 110 to 140 bhp. From like 210 to 240 newton metres of torque. About as much as I’ll get out of it thoigh
Weird flex, better off going cheaper then upgrading after a year like I did. Started off with a 62plate limited edition now I’m onto a corsa e vxr. Soon as you get a years no claims then you can get something decent with abit of power.
@@CarsWithJB no you don't! The sunroof in mine leaked, I sealed it still leaked, so now I've just got a window in the roof that is completely sealed and doesn't open
First car should be a car that you can learn to work on and it should be cheap to maintain. 0-60 times and top speed are irrelevant tbh (you won't drive this car forever so modifying it in terms of performance has no sense). Polo is a perfect choice, looks, well... like a polo and has more room for your homies than the CRZ.
Agreed! Although I think modifications either way are fine to do just to get the experience of working on a car, so that you can make some mistakes and do better in future!
Things I wish I’d tried when getting the Suzuki. Don’t think the boot is big enough for my RC stuff so probably wouldn’t have bought it. As for first cars I’d say buy what you can just don’t go nuts and buy an aventador.
Cars With JB I’d have probably said no. I would have asked can I have a manual murcielago instead. Shifting a V12 is something that can’t be done anymore and that’s a shame.
Fendersforce you mean 4th car total or 3rd concurrent car haha? I don't know yet - I'm focusing on getting the MX-5 where I want it, then the Polo, then we'll see 🤙🏽
@@CarsWithJB Nice little collection you have there. I think the brz/86 would be good to talk about(not over powered, well balanced and fun to drive daily). You could always upgrade to a Golf i guess from the polo since there's a lot more space there. There's talk on the emerging i30N being the new 'hot hatch', but i think there's cooler cars than that like your MX-5 we don't see very often.
That thing will be super cheap to run and reliable. As someone well past their first car (on my 5th...) I wouldn't touch one, but as a first car it's a great choice. Performance is as much as anyone needs from a first car too.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta or Mito.. 1.4 multi air engine, Audi A1, vw polo (2010>), Volvo C30, Citroen Ds3... all small engined 1.2 to 1.6 turbo with good equipment and mod cons Small yet powerful turbo petrol engines mean good economy and cheap insurance. crazyforiegner2 old doesn’t mean rubbish!! And you will save money I had a polo 9n for a year and a half and just bought myself an even older 2001 Audi A3 1.8T why ? Because I just wanted something faster, depends what you class as nice
Yeah that does make sense - it's a good engine as well with a lot of knowledge on it if anything goes wrong!
My first car is a fiesta st mk7.5 15 plate
Very decent!
2 of my favorite youtubers
Cheers my dude!
I like both your cars
Both have their pros and cons 🤙🏽
Wish my first car was that price, my Polo Rline clocked in at £11,999 😭
Ben Purvis what year
XxPandas21.52xX 66 plate :)
Haha that's cash - but an r line is pretty sick!
Is it bad if I prefer the polo
My first car also cost £400 mini Cooper 0-60 9 seconds. 115 bhp
Haha no, I love my Polo!
Just going to flex my first car. It has RGB lighting.
Huge flex right there
Yuwan is 👌, JB is 👌, together they are 👌👌
No u 👌🏽
@@CarsWithJB when you recorded this where you guys in letchworth, pretty sure i saw u 2 as well
We can compare our cars. Mine is a 2010 Ford Focus Zetec S 2.0 Petrol 3dr. Looks the nuts with 150bhp
Very decent!
@@CarsWithJB thank you!!
I watch both your Channels GANG GANG
same bro
Gaaaaaaaaaaaang
My polo 9n comes with a sunroof OPtIonAl ExTra
Haha wish mine did too!
@@CarsWithJB no you don't! The sunroof in mine leaked, I sealed it still leaked, so now I've just got a window in the roof that is completely sealed and doesn't open
You should try tinting your back windows
I definitely will at some point, I'm just aware of how much effort it is haha
Under 30mpg in the polo? Damn bro you got to be driving boot to the floor all the time , my 223hp car gets 53mpg 😂
Haha you have to be foot to the floor to get it anywhere at any kind of speed!
@@CarsWithJB yeah that's fair enough
My MK4 fiesta 1.3 got 30 mpg 😂 my A6 V6 tdi gets 42
@@Nononoone mad how some bigger cars with bigger engines get better fuel economy than "economy cars"
Davidos Rc diesel is the answer
I've got a nice first ish car Idm being in a vid doing comparisons with multiple cars

@@CarsWithJB when do you wanna do this link up
Didn't realise both of you were so local to me
You in Letchworth area? It was my first time there!
@@CarsWithJB I live local yeah.
I've seen Yuwans car driving around a few times too. Both of the cars look nice.
I would love that crib as my first car does anyone know how much the insurance is on it??? 🤨 ££££
My first car was 2000£ 3 litre v6 300hp
Did well there!
Imagine 3 6 foot people in the back 😂
Haha it's just not happening basically!
My first car sits at an average of 60mpg from just razzing round town n stuff but gets 80mpg on the motorway
That's very decent!
jb do you have another jib aswell as youtube
Yes boss, I'm in the consulting division of a financial services firm
That is a v interesting unique first car I mean it costs a lot bit you don't see it often on the roads which I rate
Yeah I agree there, rarer cars are always a bonus!
Yuwan’s channel is jokes “hello it is I”
First car should be a car that you can learn to work on and it should be cheap to maintain.
How much was the insurance for the crz?
Sam Bromley i’m running about $600 per half year which was within $100 of my last car (2006 Prius) so i find it pretty manageable for what it is
I don't actually know how much Yuwan is spending on insurance - I'll try to include it in an insurance video soon
Ahhh the CR-Z. Want but can't have, unless I leave the wife at home and take my daughter on an adventu... Hmmm!... Hang on!
Hahah do it! Perfect car for the job 🤙🏽
You don't get 30 mpg in the polo???? I'm shocked, do you just press the gas on neutral😂😂😂
Haha definitely an exaggeration but I definitely don't get particularly decent mpg!
9n any day of the week
Gotta love them 🤷🏽♂️
I like that Honda
It is a cool little car 🤙🏽
Cars With JB ye but the POLO still offers basically the same but it’s just not as modern
Hold up y'all know each other?
Not exactly, Yuwan reached out at the start of last week, now we know each other!
Things I wish I’d tried when getting the Suzuki. Don’t think the boot is big enough for my RC stuff so probably wouldn’t have bought it. As for first cars I’d say buy what you can just don’t go nuts and buy an aventador.
Yeah that's very fair - although if someone had offered me an aventador as my first car I wouldn't have said no!
Cars With JB I’d have probably said no. I would have asked can I have a manual murcielago instead. Shifting a V12 is something that can’t be done anymore and that’s a shame.
Anyone know the song he played in the crz
It's called Lacoste - not sure who by though!
@@CarsWithJB ah thank you mate, watch both of your channels, was a great video
If you have a decent amount of money, still go cheap for your first. Get an amazing second car a year or two after your first.
Yo man, you might want to adjust your handbrake because that position looks very high. I have the same car
Mate you should see my MX-5 handbrake - it's practically at 90 degrees 😂
how do you put that thing down every time ?😂😂
@@CarsWithJB Btw, are you going to make a video on painting the rubbing strips? I wanted to do that on my Polo but I'm scared of messing it up
Tommy Jeon I will, as soon as I get some light to work in (for removing the trim!)
Dude, and im planing a 2017 Honda Civic as first car ._.
That'll be sick!
A little bit overkill maybe 😂 but i think it depends on the person
In about 2 months I’m having either an Audi A1 or a 2015 Seat Leon Fr as a first car 🤷🏽♂️😂
That'll be sick!
Who else is here coz of yuwan
Me
I'm just gonna flex the 45 mpg in my first car ;)
Mate that's carnage - I need to be more gentle to Penny...
Ooh let me flex the 65 around town mpg in my first car 😅

@@CarsWithJB what's your 3rd car gonna be?
1 ALLOY FOR PENNY??? not one penny for ALLOY?
Haha she won't go down without a fight 👀
ok but what is yuwan wearing
Haha morgan freeman ahoy!
All the better cars you could of got for £4500 smh
That thing will be super cheap to run and reliable. As someone well past their first car (on my 5th...) I wouldn't touch one, but as a first car it's a great choice. Performance is as much as anyone needs from a first car too.
What cars are u thinking of then Harry?
Kam where do I start...
Alfa Romeo Giulietta or Mito.. 1.4 multi air engine, Audi A1, vw polo (2010>), Volvo C30, Citroen Ds3... all small engined 1.2 to 1.6 turbo with good equipment and mod cons
Small yet powerful turbo petrol engines mean good economy and cheap insurance.
And before ya say yeah they are more common than the Honda in the video but in my opinion they’re just better
@@harryallen1343 none of those cars sound reliable
crazyforiegner2 I mean any car can be reliable if you look after them properly, and I doubt they’re any worse or better than the Honda
My first car was a Peugeot 205!
That's sick, do like a 205!
Meanwhile I saved up $15 000 for a 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT AWD V6.
Smashed it!
Don’t want to flex but my polo came with alloys ;)
Haha smashed it!
My first car was 11k but my sister gave me it and I love it.
That's strong - is it the MiTo?
Cars With JB yeah. It’s a great car.
I had more fun thrashing round my 500 quid banger corsas slammed on the cheapest coilovers then i do do my TT😂
Haha it's always the way, cheap little bangers are often the most fun!
my 1st car cost me 200 quid and its perfect and its a p reg fiesta and its faster then both of your cars ha ha
i dont condon racing and speeding on public road oof all cars are good
It's not fast tho is it
Haha fair enough either way! £200 is a steal
I suppose someone has to own a Honda CR-Z GT
Haha each to their own for sure
Wayyy prefer the polo
I mean I'm team Polo for obvious reasons 🤷🏽♂️
im in no way meaning to flex, also it being my own money I had saved up, but im starting to think that I shouldn't of spend 12k on a merc a180 :S
That's carnage as a first car!
