Bohlinger nails it every time - he puts people at ease and gets the best from them. Who else could get a player to admit he knows nothing about his rig and have everyone enjoy it? Just another one of the guys. John must have been in a garage band at one time.
If you watch his other videos people are tearing him down for being down to earth and modest but yea he is a great guy that knows a lot about guitar gears.
I keep coming back to 13:23 "So lemme get this straight..."; JBs amusement at this guy's technical not-giving-a-fuck is so completely infectious it even wins him over
every single interview with John Bohlinger is fun to watch, no doubt that this cat has huge love for music and respect for musicians...PG should hire him full time, send him all over places to do all interviews :) really, it is highly recommended ...channel wins, musicians win, listeners win, music wins....everyone wins :) love and respect bro
I totally disagree, I don't know who he is but he comes across as fake, especially his laughing. And what is up with that outfit? He looks absurd. Skinny jeans? Dude looks like he's 50.
Saw them front row once and Adam was walking and playing directly in front of the crowd and he leaned his head toward me and I got to pat his hair lol. Anyway, superb player!
I have to admit, when I started watching these, I did not know any of John's credentials, and I thought, "Why is this goofball interviewing people?" But as I watched, I realized that his goofball demeanor is exactly what makes these great, and he gets into a really great level of detail, and asks a lot of the same questions I would. And he comes across in such a non-threatening way, people like to open up to him. Thank for doing these, John!
baba yaga Yes! Also Greta Van Fleet, The Lemon Twigs, Jade Bird, Marcus King, Starcrawler, Jake Bugg, Tyler Bryant, Larkin Poe, Sunflower Bean, Billy Strings, Daniel Donato, King Gizzard, Twin Peaks, Temples, Calpurnia,v
This was hysterical. I'm surprised John didn't touch on the fact that Intensity was on full on the Strymon while all the other knobs are at 1. After all those pedals the tone was so amazing.
I was at The Struts show at the Ventura Theater (which is known for awful sound). The first few songs Adam played his Les Paul Junior, and his guitar sound was nice and fat and sat perfectly in the mix. I could appreciate his guitar work. When he switched to the Les Paul Standard, the guitar sound washed out, and was lost in the mix. It was very hard to discern what he was actually playing on the Standard. The difference in sound was pretty striking, between those guitars, in that venue.
Black! Had a Black Les Paul Custom, Maple neck, Pearl inlay. Loved, absolutely Loved that guitar. Nothing sounds like a Paul. Nice playing...Adam never plays clean... then he did for 5 secs...
John, Remember with the Sansamp the controls are sensitive. A little goes along way in the preamp mode vs direct. I know these guy's are young. As Bassists really they should just do research on Jack Casidy for good tone.😎
These guys are much better musicians than The Struts music allows them to be. They have so much potential with all of the talent in the band but I don’t think they’ve made a GREAT record yet.
People keep repeating that a single pickup makes less magnetic pull on a string and changes the sound. To me this sounds like complete BS. I challenge someone with a single PU guitar to tape a bar magnet near the neck and see if anything changes.
More like Green Day meets Queen meets Aerosmith meets Oasis. With glitter. Way less derivative of a specific band, they have their own unique sound and it rocks. They don't sound like anyone, but you can hear moments of influences rush past.
@@jhonnycultura4455 Just a HUGE fan of The Struts, not GVF. No disrespect to them or their fans (to each his own), I just feel The Struts are original, unique and clearly making a huge impression on fun, catchy rock music :)
Watching these guys play and hearing them chat... makes you realise how unbelievably lucky they were to meet Luke. Nice enough guys but real character vacuums (musically and otherwise)

I love it when guitarists just play and couldn’t give a crap about pedals. I need some of that attitude
If you ever get the chance to see this band live, TAKE IT. Saw them open for Foo Fighters in October of '17 and they were amazing.
I keep coming back to 13:23 "So lemme get this straight..."; JBs amusement at this guy's technical not-giving-a-fuck is so completely infectious it even wins him over
I met these gentlemen back in October and it was absolutely amazing!! They are so kind and sweet and they put on ONE HELL OF A SHOW

Great band, awesome live. And a great rig rundown to boot. The Struts are taking over the world.
You can tell Adam & Jed Love what they do, it transpires into their Great Music!! Thanks for Sharing! #TheStruts 👏🎶🎸🙌😊
Such a great band. Such good dudes, so humble.
Saw them front row once and Adam was walking and playing directly in front of the crowd and he leaned his head toward me and I got to pat his hair lol.

Dude that's so cool haha :D Really wish I see them live one day too, heard they are fantastic live!

The Struts are SICCKKK!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼
The Struts are awesome! One of the best new bands in the world right now
the struts, rival sons, roxanne. saving rock and roll

@@troutmask9111 KING GIZZARD saved rock and roll for me. Greta Van Sheet as your first suggestion has me a bit confused.
@@troutmask9111 i think M.K is more for blues or blues rock
@@Les537 Why so? One of the biggest modern rock bands in the world, they clearly belong in the category of 'saving rock'.

p90 > buckers
Killer band...killer sound! Don't think, just go see the boys live!!
Thanks for the vid guys, John as always is very sincere and approachable.
Bohlinger at his best here. Love it!
I saw these guys opening for the Foo Fighters over the summer and they were really damn good, their new song Body Talks is awesome
Just plugged in and rock. Works every time!
Best Rig Rundown ever!
First Like. Great band, highly recommend you see them.
I love this guy
Adam slack is from my hometown, crazy
This one was great!
I don't know this band, so I wasn't that interested in the rundown, but shout out to John Bohlinger's jacket. That thing is sick
The jacket is so old it was made in America.
Man I’d love to see a Butch Walker rig rundown.
I just watched it! Lol great episode
fun rig rundown
The song at 19:15 ?
Anyone else notice the neck crack on the P90 Gibby? Wondering if it was sold like that?
awesome!
Black! Had a Black Les Paul Custom, Maple neck, Pearl inlay. Loved, absolutely Loved that guitar. Nothing sounds like a Paul. Nice playing...Adam never plays clean... then he did for 5 secs...
John's hair is on point here ...
You should definitely do nick perri

Great band! Damn I seriously thought that was Ozzys son Jack Osborne for a second, he’s a doppelgänger fore sure.
He's running a wireless system so that Octave Fuzz will probably never sound the way it does when the guitar is plugged straight into it.
or wireless after fuzz??
1:15 broken/repaired headstock?
Yeah....I saw that too.
I think there may have been a little smokin' going on before this interview got started. lol
Do it with The Lemon Twigs’ Brian D’addario
adam's guitars are absolutely beautiful, but that signature bass guitar looks like a fuckin ornate weapon
You guys should have done Lilly Hiatt and her band while you were at the BEAST for this taping.
Oh man this dude is great. Let's just play guitar.
i'm oddly jealous of johns' hair
The interviewer reminds me of a cross between Edward from Twilight and Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder.
I try to never go full RT.
That was great.

Get the guitar guys from Starcrawler there new single "she gets around" is a killer song
John is so high! Haha
there is a mike mccready les paul on reverb for nine just in case you have that laying around
Not nearly expensive enough for my tastes but thanks for the heads up.
His drive sound is killer until he turns on the overdrives. It’s like putting ketchup on a steak!
Solo Dallas
Do Dick Dale next
Nick Perri RR pleeeeeeeeaze(?) =|

Next time try to keep in mind who is the interviewee and who is the interviewer
Rig Rundown Metallica (James Hetfield,Kirk Hammett,Robert Trujillo)
Why? Kirk and James run through AXE-FX and play their signature guitars. 😴
Imagine that. A Les Paul player playing in e minor. Shocking.
The problem with a band like this is that they are extremely limited in what they can write because of the technical limitations of their musicians.
Shut the fuck up
Lame.
wow British Greta Van Fleet?
More like Green Day meets Queen meets Aerosmith meets Oasis. With glitter. Way less derivative of a specific band, they have their own unique sound and it rocks. They don't sound like anyone, but you can hear moments of influences rush past.

Oliver Jones I love Josh’s voice, but Struts’ Luke Spiller is a better vocalist than Josh

begginer´s skills, take that expensive gear off and you´ll have less than nothing.
