Why would adding a long LED lightstrip interfere with ceiling fan light?

  • So I was looking to add some extra lighting to a bedroom and had an idea of placing some up lights on top of a very tall cabinet to project up in a vaulted ceiling.
I had an extra LED workshop overhead light from Barrina that I picked up at Amazon to replace failing old fluorescent ballasts. They worked great and give you the option to hardwire or plug in.
So I brought this extra one up and plugged it in and placed it on the cabinet. Worked great and made a huge difference.
Here’s the problem. I hace it plugged into an outlet that is operated by a switch which was ideal. But when this light is on, now my ceiling fan and it’s light (also LED) will not turn on. I shut the strip light off, and it works.
This light strip is 72w so I don’t think it can overload the circuit.
I then tested with a LED portable work light (50w). No issues. Then tried an old halogen worklight (the ones that get super damn hot at 500w) and again no issue.
    Any ideas what’s causing this?
