How to train your dragon and Sea Beast have similarities. They are about a group of humans who are scared of monsters and the main characters are children who want to get away from their home and find mythical creatures and they show the village that the creatures were friendly to humans as long as they coexist
Yeah in a way but, they wrote lies, not like the Vikings that actually happened and hiccup changed it all, the sea beast tho not so much. But I get your point, watching httyd and sea beast back to back I really see the similarities and differences.
This exactly what i also thought. Its good cuz its httyd but that doesnt make it bad, i always wanted a way to rewatch it. Httyd will always be better but its nice rewatching it again.
Slighter spoilers but something I loved so much in sea beast was they showed how much this war has done. When red swims over the sea floor and you see all the bones and sunken ships you really now feel how old the war is. We get to see the casualties of war on both sides and and makes me remember the quote from the first HTTYD “They’ve killed hundred of us!” “And we’ve killed thousands of them!” Just everytime I see that scene that quote comes to mind
Edit: Thanks to all the comments - I'll admit I jumped the gun but I still believe Sanders has an influence regardless that his name isn't posted anywhere. For that I apologise however I do stand my ground. There is a very valid reason why both HTTYD and Sea Beast are similar... Chris Sanders. If you search for any information on William's art style there is none easily found or identified whilst there is a tone for Sanders given his illustration background. This art style mimic goes back to 2008 when Williams replaced Sanders after the base concept and style were done for Bolt. We're taught in Art School to mimic famous art styles, and Sander's style is relatively simple compared to others, given I've tried to draw like him for Illustration practice (when finding my own style). Since 2008 when Bolt took off it's possible that Williams may have retained the ability to mimic Sander's style despite not being too evident in movies such as Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Moana - it's almost identical to Sander's in HTTYD given the similarity in the storyline as well (Sea Beast is said to be a middle ground between HTTYD and Moby Dick). Despite Sanders having nothing to do with Sea Beast it's obvious Williams is highly influenced by Sander's art style and it's sad to see that there is almost a complete ripoff with the art style in this movie. I can also speculate that any artists who worked under Sanders could have moved back to Disney to work under Williams which brings in the same issue, given artists work under one or more styles throughout their lifetimes. It's sad to see that it wasn't picked up on in concept.
@@CalciumSnorter he was always sorta a mixture of both tbh…..he’s more catlike when he’s guarded, more doglike when he’s playful Just the introduction scene from the first movies shows this…..his body movements are straight up (cat ready to pounce) until Hiccup kicks away the knife…..then dudes straight up *puppy* I think the intent was to make him likable by both cat and dog owners, despite how design wise he very clearly is more of a cat
While yes, the Red Bluster design has strong resemblance to Toothless (mostly just the face) and the plot is generally similar to HTTYD, i think many of the points made in the video are a bit of a stretch. The characters in Sea Beasts are distinct and different enough to stand apart from HTTYD, and if anything, Cpt. Crow reminded me more of John Silver from Treasure Planet than Stoic. Comparing Hiccup to Maisie and Jacob felt pretty off too as for every similarity they might share with Hiccup, they have just as many if not more differences. Many of the other points made in the video are such generic things that you can't even really say it was copied from HTTYD, and that its just more cliche than anything. Sea Beasts, while sharing similarities to HTTYD, having a pretty predictable plot, and having a weaker ending than it could have had was still a solid film in its own right with great animation, and was a pleasant surprise compared to many other Netflix animated films.
@@labybirdhill6001 anyway at this point, httyd have been the childhood of a GIGANTIC numbers of people, so from the moment you see a movie about a non-human creature becoming friend with a human and be nice/protect him, everybody think about httyd so…
Do you want to know something? I'm not even there for that! This movie was a miracle, considering the terrible series we received after the last movie, it shows the monsters in a natural way, not just "I tame you, you become good", no. See that Red is still acting like a wild animal instead of a dog. Even so, I won't belittle the golden years of the HTTYD franchise.
Bingo! I've noticed that red acted the same before she knew Maisie and Jacob, the scene where Maisie was hurt and Jacob shot red for attention, red did not hesitate to attack Jacob but seeing Maisie hurt changed her mind but the inevitable launched a firework to get red's attention.
@@dragonmaster1334 yeah, but even after that she still wanted to go hurt the other hunters, she was still just a wild animal wanting to go do her thing
@Ebony What are you trying to say? I said red acted the same even after Maisie and Jacob was there and that's what I liked about this movie they kept the wild side of red but still having affection to her new human friends.
The confrontations between Hiccup/Stoick and Jacob/Captain Crow. Obviously one’s, well, *Hiccup* with his biological father and the other’s a strapping guy with his adopted father-figure, but at the same time both were knocked down by their respective paternal figures over their perceived betrayals over the very monsters they’ve traditionally hunted. Except Crow *really* wanted to kill Jacob at that point, and it kinda hurts less considering Jacob’s overall physique, whereas with Stoick he *knows* about Hiccup’s own physicality, but is too enraged over his son’s perceived betrayal to think clearly. In some ways, you feel for both Crow and Stoick, except Captain Crow was willing to kill Maisie over the first loss of Red, so ‘Beast’ kinda took a darker turn regarding said paternal figure.
Also the sea beast had a lot more darker themes for a kids movie than httyd, like actual blood in many scenes as an example. The whole handling of the ship as they fought the monsters was very well done and correct and not something you’d usually see in a kids movie, it felt quite realistic and scary, it kinda felt like I was watching a pirates of the caribbean movie but cartoonified. Don’t even get me started on that scene when they fall in the water and red’s just staring at them from the depths of the darkness, if I was a kid seeing that I’d get nightmares lmao. Not to mention the weapons were more realistic than httyd, which were usually exaggerated and wonky. The sea beasts weapons looked real, the way they handled them looked realistic and dangerous. It created this atmosphere in the movie that this wasn’t just some make believe story, but a place where people could actually die, where they knew they could die and so they needed to kill first. It was definitely a lot more mature than httyd. And I really enjoyed that aspect of it, we need more kids movies like that honestly.
And let’s say it, that’s why we love this movie. Please stop trying to find which one is the most loved, because sea beast is literally the reincarnation of how to train your dragon…
I love the HTTYD series but as soon as the concept blew up, I KNEW that any films involving friendship between man and beast in future would swing all the way back around to HTTYD. When I was coming up with character ideas as a kid (2004) the number one thing I wanted to see was a person riding a dragon, ya know, a typical plot. When Eragon came out, oh I lost my shit. But when HTTYD came out it was even better! But the moment that series took off...that was it. The entire concept was layered over any other concepts to a point plots similar to befriending mighty creatures are snuffed out and called "HTTYD Ripoff" The same guy that designed this film worked on HTTYD anyway. So all the pointers don't matter anyway, his ideas he put into the HTTYD franchise was put into this film too, WITHOUT a "ripoff" effect
That’s kind of the sad things with movies nowadays. Or anything of that merit. If one starts to do something that appeases a general audience, it automatically gets linked back to something that came before and basically kills off the new thing in a heartbeat. The similarities are what bring people in. It’s the differences that get them to stay.
Honestly sea beast was great. I also really like how to train your dragon as well. I think that both are new kinds of movies that you don’t see a lot and I can appreciate the effort put into them. We don’t need to compare them and talk about which is better. We can just enjoy the fact someone decided to make them
@@goldexperiencerequiem3059 lol I forgot I even commented this. Yeah Sea Beast is literally just a copy but it’s still a decent movie. I would pick httyd over sea beast any day because it has more to offer
There was one similarity to HTTYD that you didn’t mention that I noticed immediately. When the ship is going for a sleigh ride with Red, Maisie cut the lines. Just like when Hiccup cut the lines in the first movie.
How To Train Your Dragon is my absolute favourite series and is always going to be. I’ve been watching it for years and you should 100% watch The Hidden World! Nothing will beat HTTYD for me, especially the nock offs that have been coming out, it could be that there was inspiration from dragons for this movie but I’ll probably still watch it and get angry over the similarities 😂 Edit: Apologies for how long this is I’m very passionate about HTTYD 😅
"Both inspire their killers to give up their killing for good" Hiccup didn't want to kill dragons directly after he met Toothless, while Jacob still wanted to kill Red even after he saw how gentle she was with Maisie.
Which I appreciate because he’s a grown dude, he’s had a lot of time to be indoctrinated and manipulated. It’s the only life he’s known and he had no problem fighting beasts, no objections. I also appreciate how he asks questions and ponders it throughout the journey. It shows growth and that even the deepest roots can be pulled out.
I strongly disagree. While I can see how people can pinpoint similarities, there are many things that make them different. The Sea Beast reminds me more of Drifting Dragons(Netflix animated show and Manga) in it's hunting style, especially when it came to Red. However, instead of hunting the beasts out of necessity, the Hunters hunted them out of sport. The 'necessity' of hunting the Sea Beasts is actually passed down through generations of false history planted by the government. Whereas in HTTYD, the only reason the vikings wanted to kill the dragons is because they posed a real threat to livestock and living on Berk in general. It wasn't until the end of the first movie where the vikings found out the reason why the dragons would raid their village, so they killed out of temporary necessity.
Yes thank you! So many people seem to think because of a few similarities it means blatant lazy copying of a previous franchise, when that's not always the case, a big note on this movie is the people who helped make it, one of whom had a big role in the creation of the httyd movie itself, so no wonder there are similarities here and there, but I would say it definitely not am exact copy or a blatant rip off, some people just gotta watch it first before they jump to conclusions. Also reminds me that I need to continue watching Drifting Dragons lol
@@VermilionD13 why u acting like the movie was horrible it was a good movie syre it may have been simular to httyd but it doesnt automatically make it horrible it did a good job unlike "dragons the nine realms" plus it has alot more diversity, alot of little black girls can look up to masie and feel more seen than they would in httyd not saying httyd is bad tho but its only black character was a villan who died later on.
Both films are pretty good, but I can say that there are big differences between the films when it comes to characters, theme, and even the tone. I feel like where HTTYD focused more on "We humans simply misunderstand these creatures, and so we should tame them." The Sea Beast kinda focuses a little more deeper on the human's perspective. They don't try and tame the beasts, and I feel like the theme is more so "What is a great death? And why does it include a cycle of never-ending vengeance?" The characters, especially the crew all have someone or something that was taken from them and it makes you really understand from their perspective how they feel. You can empathize with them. But this blame isn't exactly put on either side, but it does try and find the root. And another thing, I was afraid that the kinda cute soft design of the creatures would be hyper focused on. And I'm glad that it actually wasn't in the film! Yeah, the bluster is kinda cute, but like real beasts or animals, it was the lack of humanization or familiarity that made you understand why humans would be afraid of them. Because you can't understand or predict their behavior or actions....just like real animals! Its the whole "hyena laugh" misconception. Just because an animal displays a trait that it familiar to us, does not mean that's exactly what it is. Laughter from an animal may not be a sign of joy at all, but distress or agitation. So I kinda appreciate that even though in design the Bluster may look cute like Toothless....but they are still in every right A SEA BEAST, (not some cutesy puppy to be tamed by humans)
@@phantomlink0212 I don't think I said which one I thought was better 🤣 if somethings burning I hope it's cooking 😂 HTTYD is better, but because of the writing and series. It's more fleshed out and has more variety and details in the world. But definitely the Sea Beast has alot of potential. I can see it having another movie and expanding on the universe.
HTTYD is a legend. Nothing can defeat that beautiful masterpiece 💞 the 3 movies, the aftermath and middle series. It's all too good! And unlike any other movies, it actually shows how hiccup can also loose too. He's not the typical I can always win hero, he makes mistakes and that makes it more realistic. Nothing can challenge the bond of those two. HTTYD will forever remain my favorite!
@@EggRob I refuse to acknowledge that 😭 I'm talking about HTTYD franchise. The nine realm is it's own franchise to me and I'm not acknowledging that as a sequel-
It definetely has similarities, but the Sea beast is it's own thing, it's an awesome movie. If it was another movie about dragon hunters that takes one individual to change it all, then yeah, it was copying
Hey, you want to know something? I honestly don’t care. It was a great movie and it is helping me through my HTTYD withdrawal phase because the phase has been ongoing for awhile now and it’s so bad that I legitimately binged the entirety of the second season of the Nine Realms just to see the skrill again and to be honest, I am really trying not to cry while typing this.
@@thewyit4222 The animation is horrendous, the plot is average, and I don’t know how in the hell the skrill got so gigantic even though it was probably frozen in 1,300 years and got beaten by a knock-off version of toothless with the excuse that the walls of the maze were conducting most of the lightning because apparently the walls were metallic or something like that. But anyways, like I said, I am desperate and I am kind of in the middle of liking and hating the show because it was kind of meh, so to end off this comment, it was OK.
I thought the same way when watching the film. Though, personally, I think the movie, despite being a good watch, felt short in story telling. - They introduced the island of the beasts yet they didn't explore it that much, story and visuals wise. - Red is the main monster in the movie, but again who is red exactly? - They mentioned the Monarch in significant times but was given no explanation about it.
They didn't eat to explore the island because they want to go home quick it is at this point where jacob is not yet favored in befriending a beast. There is not much background for red yet because she is rarely seen, otherwise it maybe a false story told by the Queens and Kings. I agree with the monarchs not having much story but the story is not yet complete, maybe maisie could tell us the story if there is any sequel or maybe a story form of a prequel.
@Monster Riot I think httyd is superior in soundtrack, bonding, and it's visuals at its time, but you could not disagree that this is a visual masterpiece, and have some great side characters.
YES FINALLY YES OMG YES!!! I thought I was going insane because I couldn’t find anyone else that saw the short fallings of the story. I love the scene inside the giant conch, but I wish we had seen more of Red on the island to see what they do in its natural habitat. Tbh maybe replacing the chase scene with the yellow baby beasts with Blue leading Maisie to an area Red was hanging out in would have been better. Also, sings of people disliking the crown early on might have eased the ending where the crowd sides with Maisie, cause ngl it felt pretty flat and unjustified.
One thing I didn't really like about Sea Beasts was that the main characters found one example of a nice sea monster and assumed that all of them were like this, despite literally being attacked out of nowhere by a giant crab for seemingly no reason. I liked the movie enough, but there were just so many assumptions related to their "don't kill monsters" message for everyone else in their world.
Finally others who realized the similarities…I honestly wouldn’t mind if the sea beast because a franchise like HTTYD if done properly it could be just as big but for a new generation…overall it was a great movie with a similar concept
And both Toothless and Red had a name by the hunters. Toothless is a Night Fury dragon and Red is a Red Bluster sea monster. Still love the humans misunderstood beasts theme in both films. You know to teach kids not to judge beasts by their scary appearances but by what good they can do if you’ll just give them a chance. Also delivers the “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” lesson as well by don’t judge beasts by their scary appearance and instead focus on what good they can do. I know I said that twice but what other way should I put it. Also each of the films young protagonist starts off by wanting to be like the other hunters and later not wanting to kill them or be a hunter just with one encounter with a beast who didn’t actually try to kill them at first sight. Also while Hiccup has his father alive and his mother was revealed to be alive in the second HTTYD film, Maisie‘s both parents are revealed both dead that were killed by sea monsters she was left orphaned but still at first trying to continue her family’s legacy by wanting to become a sea monster hunter herself and kill sea monsters and later not wanting that job and not wanting to kill sea beasts after she befriended Red and same with Hiccup, he also wanted to become a dragon hunter and kill dragons and later not wanting that job and kill dragons after befriending Toothless. The only difference is that Hiccup got into dragon hunting training and Maisie didn’t get any sort of training whatsoever at all but they still make that speech on how hunting and killing is not the way but seeing how Maisie had more luck than Hiccup had and Hiccup had to do a rescue attempt with some smaller dragons to defeat the king dragon (I forgot what his name was) in order to convince his father and the rest of the Vikings to accept dragons as their friends instead of enemies. But overall both films were good and I watched both of them and I immediately noticed the similarities between them two and I was glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of this idea so this video was impressive, impressive indeed.
Most of the similarities are more cliche rather than direct copies. But, even though there are some similarities between characters and scenes, like Maisie and Hiccup, or hunters being reformed, most people can agree that the film is still pretty good. You can make something original and new, and it could still turn out to be horrible. Meanwhile there are plenty of times where unoriginal animation are made, and they can still be an absolute hit.
I feel like the little girl came around way too quickly. At the beginning she was talking about how her heroic parents fought monsters and was determined to continue their legacy, but it felt like Red looked at her once and she spent the rest of the movie like "no wait we were wrong!" Hiccups was better developed because not only did he spare Toothless out of mercy when Toothless was the underdog, but he actually spent time wondering if he had made a mistake. He thought about it notably, and when he said "everything we know about you guys is wrong" it was after so much evidence had piled up.
@@dinodare1605 Well, regardless, Red is a monster. And if it, of its massive size, proves passive, then others might as well be too, especially at a smaller scale. And you're forgeting about Blue and the other tiny varieties. Just because a few, extensive species attacks them, doesn't mean the others are bad, or that they're all, overall, horrible. Would you say that about lions, wolves, and other predators? They're just serving their natural ecological niches. They shouldn't be hunted to extinction because they're doing what they need to survive.
I think the one thing that the sea beasts could not beat from httyd is its soundtrack (it is just a masterpiece), and really really strong bond with hiccup and toothless.
I have mixed feelings about this movie. Yes, there’s absolutely no question about whether it was inspired by How to Train Your Dragon or not. You could see where the story was going from a mile away and Red’s expressions are very similar to Toothless. But honestly.. That’s ok! It’s hard to make a good movie completely from scratch and I’m alright with people taking inspiration from other films as long as it’s not a blatant ripoff. I was IMMEDIATELY blown away by the animation as soon as it started. And the voice acting was on par. It felt like the voice actors were grabbed straight out of the 1800’s and you could feel the emotion coming off the characters. Yes the pacing of the movie was a bit weird and it feels like a big part of the story is missing. And there were also some side characters that felt like they were pretty useless to the actual story, but I don’t think it’s right to completely rip into this movie and not give credit where credit is do. Overall I really enjoyed it and it’s a great movie to watch in your spare time.
HTTYD is about Vikings battling Dragons and The Sea Beast is about Pirates battling sea monsters. 2 famous adventurers from history battling mythical creatures

Tbh i noticed it when i watched the movie and also that part when the girl comes in front of the sea beast its like its from Moana, and that nodding from the sea beast like it was from How To Train Your Dragon.
Bro this pisses me off. They’re both made by dream works!!! Meaning there’s no copying done. The only difference is Netflix partnered with one of them. Like they even advertise, “from the makers who brought you how to train your dragon”
I am a HUGE fan of HTTYD, I’ve seen the first 2 movies at least 6 times each in the past year and a half. When I watched Sea Beast, I really liked that it had similarities and the essence of HTTYD. It never bothered me that they were similar, if anything I LIKED that they were included. While I favor HTTYD, I still think Sea Beast was amazing
Yeah toothless was a lot more scaley so I see why. I just think that a lot of the face and mostly the eyebrow line or whatever you call it was more toothless than light fire the rest looked a lot like the light fury and a rumble horn
when i first watched this movie I literally thought it was made by dreamworks for a split second because how much the red bluster looks like toothless lol
I watched this movie with my family before knowing anything about it. Httyd is a major part of my childhood and s soon as the movie ended, I said to my dad "it's like a ripoff Httyd". And at that moment we both realised how similar they are.
Fyi sea beast is not a ripoff and their where some animators from httyd that were helping animate the textures and characters so that’s why it looks kind of like the characters from httyd
I love both movies, but HTTYD has that special place in my heart. It's my childhood movie and the love I have for it's characters (especially Toothless) is unchangeable. That's it. Just wanted to say that....
you can also see how both red and toothless have basicaly 0 info about them, but as the movie goes on you can see that they learn more and more about the creatures
Haven't seen it but it already seems better than that one ripoff series of How To Train Your Dragon: The Nine realms, it's such a ripoff that it even makes empty husks of a character cast of the original franchise. But compared to The Sea Beast and How to Train Your Dragon in a "Would you watch this or that" I'd go for How to Train your Dragon all the time, it was such a good franchise. But I do see The Sea Beast possibly becoming a movie similar to what How to Train Your Dragon did where it captured the viewers hearts in a way.
The Ending was lame for me in The Sea Beast I was expecting an Epic fight instead everyone just automatically sided with the Sea Beasts because a girl gave a speech HTTYD did a more better job
@Amity Blight Yeah its likely a thank you for saving her life. But there is a bit of bond between them, if there is gonna be a sequel I wanna see them too focus more on the bonding with red and blue.
I wish it was just a monster hunter movie. The crew actually use cool and smart tactics to fight the beasts. E.G When Jacob climbs up onto a high pole to get enough momentum to stick the scaled beast with a tracking buoy as it goes for a dive. Or when they blow cannon balls at it to expose weak points for arrows to hit. and the break down the cpt has when he thinks he has lost his son (Jacob). There is so many great parts in this movie.
I love both the Sea Beast and HTTYD but I think that the biggest similarity between the 2 movies is that in the Sea Beast there is a beast called a Brickle Back and in HTTYD there is a dragon called a Zippel Back
I just watched this movie, and even though i hadn't looked at ANY trailers or anything, i already knew were it was going. Still, i enjoyed the movie a lot. Beautiful animation, and Red is awesome
I will not say it's a knock off version yes there are a lot of similarities but the story is way off when you talk about httyd, yes it's a fight between humans and dangerous creatures but hiccup was not adopted, there is no hiccup-astrid kinda situation and there's not to much side characters and I don't even think that red was like a really really loyal to maisie and jacob cause when Jacob shot red and red got attention, red did not stop until she saw maisie was hurt but he continued attacking when she saw the inevitable. And there's actually two beasts that they befriended red and blue.
Another scene is when Maisie cuts the rope to the harpoon that were stuck to Red at the beginning of the movie and Red let them go. This reminds me of when Hiccup was about to end Toothless when he found him in the forest after he shot him down. But hiccup cuts the rope tying Toothless and after a menacing stare and roar from Toothless he lets Hiccup go
If you think about it all 2 acts of “The sea beast” (tsb) are from the 3 Movies of how to train your dragon In the first one is basically humans finding dragon are good Second one reveals how some humans are bad against dragons This 2 films pretty much express the second act of the “The Sea Beast” where we see the main cast find about the beast are nice and how humans are bad to them The third film in short is a resume to tell us how is not so good idea to hang around dragons And pretty much humans and dragons have to stay away from e such other. Which in the third act is kinda what happens But they kinda rush it and the ending was just a cliffhanger for more plot points in sequels
I mean yeah the plot and the characters are a bit the same but do I care: no | do I like it: yes! Httyd was an amazing story and I always wished for sm like this so overall 10\10
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I thought the same thing when I watched Sea Beast! I was like "ok yeah, this is basically HTTYD but sea monsters". Red looks like Toothless. The plot is basically the same. I like both movies and I don't agree with everything said in this video but yeah. You make some really good points.
fun fact that nobody knew: one. they didnt copy it . two. theres no reason to insult them. its not copying anyways. three. theres a difference in all they say. httyd is a dragon story, see theres all an reason to kill a dragon. and sea beast. its about a war. very different. and there was already someone who was a dragon lover in httyd. how come not in sea beast? ho ho ho. four. nearly every sea beast they saw had those cat eyes. and any other show with dragons had it too. so you cant just say its just sea beast who was "copying" off of it. five. httyd , the end of httyd. everyone had a dragon. did every had a sea beast pet at the end? no. just no. the war ended. thats all? six. FIRST. that was just ONE person as a beast pet? seriously. im literally shaking my head at number 3. first off. thats the only sea beast pet. did you not realize its a small sea beast? thats why its a pet. number 4 is just no. come on? HOW IS THAT COPYING?? "hiccup and masey being siblings or daughter or grand daughter etc." first off sea beasts didnt even exist when hiccup was there so you cant say nuthin about it. ALSO you do not have a brain. this proves it. when red is going to be held captive. afterwards she wouldve die. plus is something way more different then how httyd do. there being captive on a ship. being brought to the king and queen as a promise. so get your head out of the clouds and think. okay before i get onto number 7. "stoic and crow" first off. stoic the vass is a cheif. in there village. that means this wouldve been slightly older then the sea beasts. but since it has advanced technology. they would be the same. and crow is a literall captain. a captain of the boat. plus would even stoic fight his own son? no. he just put him in a area as a punishment. "hunting how-to texts" first off a "history of the sea beasts" thats not a manual for what type of sea beasts are there. its the history of the war between sea beasts and humans. first. the humans attack every beast they see. the dragons only come for the sheep. then the humans attack which makes the dragons attack again. see the dragons were stealing stuff. thats how they hated dragons. first. that water wasnt even as crazy as that. even if they have a water scene, would that even matter? and OFCOURSE it has varieties? it doesnt mean its copying if it has varieties? you see wolves irl and theres varieties? so dont complain about "varieties" "copying" movies. 1. viking and sailors are different, if you cant get it together. HOW IS THAT COPYING? its a original film. your just trying to get people to believe its not. see the difference is. its war started by the kings and queens. and the one person just saved the red bluster from death. see . the war just only ended. its not like a whole entire variety of colors of the sea beasts are now pets with the sailors. plus they stopped sailing. and the vikings, became dragon riders. they just changed in httyd. but they just left there job in sea beast. okay 1. the "sea monsters" in httyd are types of sea dragons that live in the sea. you just cant see how it functions. but ofcourse theres still sea animals? they just hangout with eachother. doesnt mean it copies? its just a place publicy for all. in httyd 2. even dragons. but see. they dont even let a single sea beast come upon shore? just because they have a similiar act. doesnt mean its "copying" the film. i just explained a whole paragraph for anyone who "believed" this video. now here this is my opinion. you dont have to believe it . just dont send hate. it will only cause a problem between us.
Yeah same here, I get that they're trying to make it look menacing but more so cute-like but honestly the other beasts looked cooler and more threatening and menacing, and I wish that of they wanted the whole narrative of Beast are bad and we get creepy while also keeping the cute features in of Red. Like make Red look like something out of subnautica, creepy unnerving how all of them view beasts, but turns out to be cute and friendly.
One difference between them is because it is way easier to tame a dragon in how to train a dragon because you can just call hiccup to snap😂😂😂(I’m just kidding)

Slighter spoilers but something I loved so much in sea beast was they showed how much this war has done. When red swims over the sea floor and you see all the bones and sunken ships you really now feel how old the war is. We get to see the casualties of war on both sides and and makes me remember the quote from the first HTTYD

It's sad to see that it wasn't picked up on in concept.
underrated comment
Ah! I knew that someone from DreaWorks was working at this!
Ok
Its not a rip-off at all, sea beast is awesome, i put it on the same grade as the first HTTYD movie
It was Chris Williams, the director of Moana and Big Hero 6. Chris Sanders played no part in this movie. :)
Giving Toothless catlike eyes is still one of the best design choices *ever*
THEN THEY MESSED IT UP IN THE 3RD MOVIE AND GAVE HIM THE PERSONALITY OF A GOLDEN RETRIEVER
@@CalciumSnorter he was always sorta a mixture of both tbh…..he’s more catlike when he’s guarded, more doglike when he’s playful
Just the introduction scene from the first movies shows this…..his body movements are straight up (cat ready to pounce) until Hiccup kicks away the knife…..then dudes straight up *puppy*
I think the intent was to make him likable by both cat and dog owners, despite how design wise he very clearly is more of a cat
Sea Beast as a whole is a stretch, movie is a Clear RIPOFF it’s shameful.

Not contrary to your point, however the dragons, Toothless esp, were modeled after [house]cats.
I think Captain Crow looks like John Silver from Treasure Planet
@@elisaacampora93 Yeah, I can see that...
Precisely
ikr

Yes
Yea
Same origin story as me 😂 it was eregon for me than httyd and the

Sea beast is so much better IN MY OPINION

@@SILVER_EDITS2 yeah but imo httyd is better
It's no wonder Hiccup loves Toothless. Just look at that cute personality. He's so cute.
Both films are pretty good, but I can say that there are big differences between the films when it comes to characters, theme, and even the tone. I feel like where HTTYD focused more on "We humans simply misunderstand these creatures, and so we should tame them."
The Sea Beast kinda focuses a little more deeper on the human's perspective.

That’s why I think HTTYD is better because it gives backstory and an explanation. And I also like it more
@Monster Riot
I think httyd is superior in soundtrack, bonding, and it's visuals at its time, but you could not disagree that this is a visual masterpiece, and have some great side characters.
I still think httyd looks better despite its age. Much more atmospheric.
The sea monster in how to train your dragon isn't the only one, in fact there is a whole dragon class about sea dragons
A unmentioned similarity:
The behaviour and sounds between Red and Toothless are extremely similar.
No wonder I liked this movie so much. HTTYD is my childhood and favorite franchise.. _ever_ in the history of ever.

At the beginning she was talking about how her heroic parents fought monsters and was determined to continue their legacy, but it felt like Red looked at her once and she spent the rest of the movie like "no wait we were wrong!"
Hiccups was better developed because not only did he spare Toothless out of mercy when Toothless was the underdog, but he actually spent time wondering if he had made a mistake. He thought about it notably, and when he said "everything we know about you guys is wrong" it was after so much evidence had piled up.

The Ending was lame for me in The Sea Beast I was expecting an Epic fight instead everyone just automatically sided with the Sea Beasts because a girl gave a speech HTTYD did a more better job
To be honest, there should be more of these kinds of movies
Both "the sea beast" and "how to train your dragon" Red bluster and night fury is the most dangerous creature in people's mind in movie
and the dangerous creature is tamed by the main character
@@haydarn but red wasn't tamed
@Amity Blight
Yeah its likely a thank you for saving her life. But there is a bit of bond between them, if there is gonna be a sequel I wanna see them too focus more on the bonding with red and blue.
maybe because the owner of how to train your dragon owns the sea beast
Red reminds me of the Shellfire
I wish it was just a monster hunter movie. The crew actually use cool and smart tactics to fight the beasts. E.G When Jacob climbs up onto a high pole to get enough momentum to stick the scaled beast with a tracking buoy as it goes for a dive. Or when they blow cannon balls at it to expose weak points for arrows to hit. and the break down the cpt has when he thinks he has lost his son (Jacob). There is so many great parts in this movie.
I loved httyd but sea beast is really good I can’t choose
It’s all Likes and Follows until you remember they are made by the same person
Imagine if these movies crossover. Hiccup and Toothless end up on an island and meet Maisie and Red.
good movie idea i love it
Personally, I think Sea Beast is an inspired mix of both HTTYD and Herman Melville's Moby Dick.
I love it💕
So it reminds us of how to train you dragon… and moana. How odd
It’s like the creators of both movies worked together to make this film
Chris Williams directed ‘Moana’ as well as ‘Sea Beast’, yes.
@@Kaikaifilu1994 I didn’t know that! You Learn something new every day 😄
@@nerd1516 Right?
@Nerd
So did you watch the movie? Because I'm pretty sure they showed that in the credits.
I love both the Sea Beast and HTTYD but I think that the biggest similarity between the 2 movies is that in the Sea Beast there is a beast called a Brickle Back and in HTTYD there is a dragon called a Zippel Back
It may have a lot of similarities but it's still better than the new httyd nine realms crap
I just watched this movie, and even though i hadn't looked at ANY trailers or anything, i already knew were it was going. Still, i enjoyed the movie a lot. Beautiful animation, and Red is awesome
Sea Beast is just a knock off version of how to train your Dragon
But hiccup cuts the rope tying Toothless and after a menacing stare and roar from Toothless he lets Hiccup go
I Love How To Train Your Dragon and THE SEA BEAST They Great, Gentle Movies
Toothless is a ♂️ He/Him
Red/ The Bluster ♀️is a She/Her
Toothless x Red
If you think about it all 2 acts of “The sea beast” (tsb) are from the 3 Movies of how to train your dragon
In the first one is basically humans finding dragon are good
Second one reveals how some humans are bad against dragons
This 2 films pretty much express the second act of the “The Sea Beast” where we see the main cast find about the beast are nice and how humans are bad to them
The third film in short is a resume to tell us how is not so good idea to hang around dragons
And pretty much humans and dragons have to stay away from e such other.
Which in the third act is kinda what happens
But they kinda rush it and the ending was just a cliffhanger for more plot points in sequels
bruh the only thing thats similar are the monster design's
I also noticed a copy even before I found out about this video when Red was furious she looked like Toothless from how to train your dragon 2
The sea beast not copie
HTTYD and Godzilla are just sea beast combined
I mean yeah the plot and the characters are a bit the same but do I care: no | do I like it: yes! Httyd was an amazing story and I always wished for sm like this so overall 10\10
Yes, Red reminded me of Toothless tho 🥲
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I thought the same thing when I watched Sea Beast! I was like "ok yeah, this is basically HTTYD but sea monsters". Red looks like Toothless. The plot is basically the same. I like both movies and I don't agree with everything said in this video but yeah. You make some really good points.
Dude they were both made by the same company!
That thumbnail Is absolutely fire.
fun fact that nobody knew: one. they didnt copy it . two. theres no reason to insult them. its not copying anyways. three. theres a difference in all they say. httyd is a dragon story, see theres all an reason to kill a dragon. and sea beast. its about a war. very different. and there was already someone who was a dragon lover in httyd. how come not in sea beast? ho ho ho. four. nearly every sea beast they saw had those cat eyes. and any other show with dragons had it too. so you cant just say its just sea beast who was "copying" off of it. five. httyd , the end of httyd. everyone had a dragon. did every had a sea beast pet at the end? no. just no. the war ended. thats all? six. FIRST. that was just ONE person as a beast pet? seriously. im literally shaking my head at number 3. first off. thats the only sea beast pet. did you not realize its a small sea beast? thats why its a pet. number 4 is just no.
I think the movie was only made to revive httyd and make the fans feel better and think that this legendary saga will live forever
i LOVE both movies, and as a huge fan of httyd i don't think monster sea copied it to be honest
Finally someone post this thought out 🎉
I was to scared cause I have only 86 sub 😢😅😅
I did not like the design of Red at all. He has absolutely no details on his skin at all, it's just smooth. Not even scales.
