I miss that guy, The Fisher King is one of my fav movies ever i recommend it! Thanks for this its a good homage to the man.
I was rewatching Aladdin a couple days ago and in the end when the genie was free I just couldn't stop tearing up... Rip robin
I was born in '91, but even then Robin Williams was Genie to me thanks to having Aladdin in VHS
KRX50 yea same Aladdin was my childhood but I certainly am surprised I didn’t know robin was the genie
27:10 "It's kinda like avatar but just a little bit different."
He is so damn right! Even down to like all the glowing stuff, the big machine. Guess I now know where Avatar got its inspiration from. Also on an unrelated note, the first film I remember with Robin in it was Jumanji. That film was a big part of my childhood and I watched it over and over again for so long.
Robin Williams was a great actor and comedian who always seemed to give 110%.
as for people who deal with depression all I can say is don't do it alone, ask for help.
"You'll have bad times, but it'll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren't paying attention to. "
Good Will Hunting (a great line from one of my favourite movies)
This episode made me SO happy and yet SO sad.
Aladdin was one of the first movies I ever saw, period, being born in 1990. So when that trailer popped up, I lost it a little.
But man, Robin was an acting and improv God. He is going to be sorely, sorely missed.
And as many people are saying.. Genie, you're free.
Robin was such a beautiful soul. He was utterly off the wall, with such talent that was almost unmanageable. Rest in peace.
This is the most possibly best single homage to the work of Robin Williams and what he represented in the world of comedy in both movies, tv and stand-up everywhere
His death hit me super hard dealing with depression myself. I mean, how can Peter Pan and Genie be depressed and kill himself? Fuck.
I hope you've found the help and support you need dude. Reach out if you need it.
I feel for you. I loved this guy. He was hilarious. You can count on my support.
It definitely hit me hard when I heard about his death because most of the movies I watched had Robin Williams in them
***** thanks a lot for replying! i just started getting help and am on medication. I hope it gets better.
Child abuse and alimony payments; don't get married, don't abuse your kids.
God, I'm only 20 years old and this got me crying... What a magnificent man he was =[
When i found out Robin Williams died, I was in shock and I couldn't say anything, I loved him so much, RIP ROBIN WILLIAMS
I grew up on Robin Williams. Seeing him appear as Mork on Happy Days; which led to him getting Mork And Mindy. He was so funny. And all the movies he appeared in from Popeye, The World According To Garp, The Survivors, Moscow on The Hudson, The Best Of Times, and Club Paradise; to acclaimed roles in Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Mrs. Doubtfire, Patch Adams, and his Oscar-winning role in Good Will Hunting. He was a great actor and a remarkably funny man. And in the five years since his passing, I still miss him.
Great homage to Robin Williams, major kudos Fraser. FernGully and Alladin were probably my first movies with him and though I loved them, since I couldn't read yet and lived in Brazil, I watched the portuguese dubbed versions, so I don't have such a strong attachment to him in those. Jumanji on the other hand was a big part of my childhood. I watched that movie I don't even know how many times, even though I was scared of some parts. R.I.P. Robin Williams. Too soon.
Robin is the first celeb that died and I've gotten upset about, The man wasn't a family member but it felt like it because known and watched his films/stand-up all though my life. He was also a big gamer that made him even more cool!
There are very few, genuinely loved actors; who are also serious gamers. Robin was among the greats and will be sorely missed. Thank you for doing this tribute Fraser, it's easy to tell you care about him and miss him as much as the rest of us.
When he died I told my mother "That man was my childhood, I'm too young for my childhood to be dying." (18 btw) and she said "Your childhood? He was my childhood." It just goes to show that Robin was the kind of influential actor/entertainer that could cross the generation gap.
Also, you guys are associated with TGWTG, right? Mara Wilson was on Doug's show once, she made fun of him, it was great. And yeah, she grew up hot.
Also also, Williams was probably the best actor ever when it comes to portraying childlike wonder, as evidenced in Hook, Jack, and I think Toys (don't know, literally couldn't stay awake through that movie).
About Patch Adams and Kyle's argument, it's kinda like making a film about the Titanic and saying that nobody died because a giant magic octopus saved everybody. Real events shouldn't be falsified to make them more lighthearted, those where actual peoples lives we're talking about.
Robin Williams had such a huge influence on my life and even though I never met him he was like a father to me. Some how he left this huge hole in my heart when he passed. Honestly when I found out he died I cried for hours knowing that such a wonderful man died. He was such an inspiration to me. And he will NEVER be missed.
Fun fact about Aladdin: Robin Williams improved almost every scene, Disney recived 14 hours of material from him to choose from.
I honestly prefer the Swedish version since that is the one I grew up with - but it us translated word for word (almost) from the original english version so it is still Robin I am laughing too when I watch Aladdin.
We took our Farewell of Robin this saturday, a bunch of friends gathered to have a Disney Night and of course, the first movie we watched was Aladdin.
I baked "Genie" cakes for the event - Everything in genie-blue.
Robin will be missed, one of the people who really shaped my childhood.
Toys is easily my all time favorite Robin Williams movie. I've seen it sooooo many times but in the end, it never gets old.
I lost it when I heard about his death. Lullaby by Nickelback came on the radio and I just cried the whole time. I had to watch Chikara and Pwg the rest of the night to get right again. Once I'm a little more ok I think its time to watch Aladdin and Hook again.
Fantastic tribute! I got chills during my top 4: Hook, Mrs Doubtfire, Toys and Jumanji, though I love most of Robins work, religiously watched Mork & Mindy and loved Popeye; But unless I missed it in the trailer collection, you missed The World According to Garp from 1982!
Thank you for this Frash, this was a wonderful tribute! ^_^ The honesty, love and laughter is truely touching.
"To die would be a grand adventure!" That quote keeps me sane. The whole Peter Pan story is brilliant.
That end was perfectly done. It's amazing realizing just how much Robin Williams did. They may not all have been hits but his hits are legendary. It is true what Fraser said. You see people like Robin Williams as always being there. They were here before you and you'd expect them to be here after aswell. For anyone in a dark place right now. You need to remember that You are awesome. Sometimes people have trouble seeing that. Sometimes the world is too harsh and it clouds that from you. You are awesome.
I spent the last week watching a Robin Williams movie a day that I haven't seen.
Not since Leslie Nelson have I felt so sad over a celebrity death.... No thats not fair he was more than a celebrity. He was a legend.
Its telling that I would play Walking Dead to cheer myself up.
gawd dame the feels thank you fraser I couldn't stop crying he was a legend
rip robin williams
Genie... your free. Thanks you so much fraser you seriously don't know how much this means to me. I am speechless... to the passing and to this video just... thank you. I love you guys.
Just finished watching, awesome tribute guys, I'm surprised you didn't put 2002 "Insomnia" on this list, it was a pretty damn good performance of he's.
It's a shame what happened :( Fraser you are a good man to make this. I wish the best for you and your "crew"
oh man, still can believe he is gone. He was one of kind, may he rest in peace.
Would movie night be on UA-cam? So that If some can't make it to the show live they can still enjoy your commentary.
Everyone thought he killed himself due to depression but it was lewy body dimentia. His best friend bobcat goldthwait said that knowing him, and Robin were best friends, people were or are always asking him if Robin ever brought up suicide or depression, and said that depression was not the cause of him committing suicide, and that it was the LBD. He said that he witnessed Robin having numerous episodes of his brain sending him misinformation. His wife said in an interview, that her, and Robin were supposed to go to a birthday party one morning, but that he just couldn't do it, and said to her "honey what's wrong with me? There's something wrong". Apparently he was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's. It's sad to know he was suffering. I hope wherever he is now, he is at peace, and wherever I go after this life, I see him. R.I.P Mr. Williams. Thank you for all the laughs sir
well 90s kids grew up on cartoons. they kind of never die.
The fact that they still talked about him in present tense shows how unexpected a loss he was for them.
Robin Williams always makes me smile.
I grew up with Jumangi and Flubber. Flubber was always shown when I was in Pre K and Kindergarten.
We should play the Aladdin game since Robin actually voice is the genie in the cutscenes of those games
Can't believe you left out Insomnia, one of his best roles. Still a good tribute though. World's Greatest Dad is a really underrated movie and I highly recommend it for Robin fans.
Thank you Fraser for putting this together
not to ignore the rest of the video, it's great and put me on to loads of films i wanna check out or revisit, but it makes me happy that kyle, deacon and ben know about Ewan mcgregor's motorcycle trips. they're some of my favorite things in existence to be honest, and anybody who hasn't checked them out should do their utmost to rectify that fact and do themselves a favor. it's gonna take me a while before i can actually stomache to see some RW movies though, but now i at least have an idea of which ones to start with. :´)
great video guys .. i am 39 and i grew up with most of those movies .. too hard to name a favorite 1 .. most of them where good and some of them i almost forgot about to hit netflix's or my local video store for a some of the older 80's '1's ..
I watched this entire thing. I nearly cried.
I was born in the 90's and I love the movie Aladdin and Robin in this to the end.
in the new zelda game they could have a Robin named Williams and have his personality.
Oh man, I love you guys, but I'm not sure I can watch this, I just don't handle death well. You did another one a while back for Harald... and I couldn't watch that either.
Maybe someday.
i was pretty young when i saw Aladdin, but i can remember always wanting to see more of the genie and was disappointed when he wasn't on screen.
Night at the museum 3's tribute message managed to make me cry
"Magic never ends" Best. Tribute message. Ever
Rip to the best actor I grew up with
I really hope his death opens peoples eyes to depression and what it can do to you. Here we have the walking, physical embodiment of joy and happiness to so many people, just seemingly always content and full of energy and good vibes, just beat down by this disease. He gave all the love he had but he never loved himself. This is what it does to you that so many people dont understand. Most of us just try to be funny. I guess making people laugh makes us feel a little better, makes us seem normal, noticed, appreciated. Allows us to hide it. He fought this long and valiently. Never took back his love and just gave and gave. Ill miss him a lot. Im tearing up just thinking bout it. But it kinda makes me connect to him more, like man, even Robin Williams dealt with this. R.I.P. From one wandering soul to another, I hope youve found your freedom and are finally happy.
It's an unpopular opinion but I really love the film Hook, just hit me at that perfect age I guess. Oh and Toys, I fucking loved that movie as a kid. Rest in peace Robin.
Master of unlocking Screw the film critics, they have their own agendas and will not be shy about pushing them on you.
+bromixsr I don't know, some points are valid (like it being overly whimsical) but I guess some of us have a higher tolerance for that kinda thing.
I'm so glad you kept this as a separate video--I thought you wouldn't post it. Thank you for doing a tribute to Robin, he was my childhood and I was bawling my eyes out when I heard the news and as I watched this. I'll admit I am a little teary eyed now. R.I.P. Robin :(
I never admired Robin Williams as much as you guys do. But damn if I don't get sad thinking about him. :(
When I heard about Robin's death, I had to walk out of my room and sit quietly in the hallway to really let it sink in. And then I told my dad how scared I was thinking what if I went through depression so hard, that I would kill myself, but then he told me as long as I'm happy with the life I have and always know that I have people who love me and care about me, I'll be fine. So that would be my advice to anyone who is afraid of falling victim to depression.
Mara Wilson turned out pretty awesome. There is one episode of the Nostalgia Critic where she destroys him. It's funny as hell.
the bird cage is an adaptation of the french " la cage aux folles" wich was a theater thing
Fraser's crush on Crysta is hilariously adorable.
Rest In Peace robin Williams
I was ok until the end there. The Genie..... Made me tear up a bit. We ain't never had a friend like you Robin and we'll never have anyone like you again. I was sad before but it didn't actually hit me just how profound of a loss it is. Like I said in a previous post we didn't lose just another celebrity we lost a legend.
I have a major soft spot for Toys. I think its severely underrated by most people.
Flubber was the first movie I ever watched in theaters... I was 1.
One of my friends Issac was actually casted as one of the kids in Patch Adams. They got a bunch of kids around here in Asheville to do the part I am not sure if any was actually sick.
God bless that man soul he was an amazing man
Hard to believe it's been 9 years already. Doesn't feel that long.
robin Williams was a good guy
I also really recommend What Dreams May Come, it is some of his best work, also a phenomenal book.
also, I wish they'd included the trailer to Aladdin and the King of Thieves, because Robin Williams did return to the role for that film
I feel bad cause I never watched much stuff with Robin Williams in it. I hardly watch movies at all really. I always thought he seemed like a cool guy when I heard about him and I respect him but I don't really have the same connection a lot of people seem to have to him.
Not to get to picky but Mork and Mindy was 1978, Popeye was 1980, he was also known for standup before the film. Great tribute though, thanks for posting!
***** Fraser! You totally forgot about Christopher Nolan's "Insomnia" starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams.
I completely forgot about that movie. One of Robin Williams best films.
I was waiting for that one! I thought I had just missed it. It's my favorite.
I liked Robin a lot, he was really good in insomnia.. My favorites i would say is Richard Pryor and John Candy
Thank you for this
Great tribute.
I was born in '93 so I heard of Williams by those 'kids movies'
A very nice tribute.
When i saw the tribute to robin williams it made me cry😪😪😪
I watched When dreams may come only the other day, It was so amazingly good! I can't believe I only knew of it after his death.
It's a sad day but in the end I kind of got over it I mean he wanted to do what he wanted but there was something that would stop him and it's his choice in the end I think it wouldn't have been a big deal if people can tell their loved ones that they wish to end their lives while they are happy.
My father used to take me everywhere every day he would spend time with us and in the end that destroyed him ignoring small things that can hurt him and now he is physically and mentally disabled and I don't remember my father who took me to places anymore just the dad that can't remember my name (3 letters long not that hard).
Sometimes I wish he instead took his life as now it's depressing seeing him every day and not being able to hug him or love him as I used to.
We should respect Robin for what he wanted to do and not what we want.
Mrs.Doubtfire was my favorite Robin Williams movie because it was funny and Matilda was in it
To be honest I haven't seen most of the movies in this tribute except for a few but I can see he meant a lot to many people. So we'll just have to say goodbye sooner than we wish we had to.
P.S. To those that want Robin Williams to be in the next Zelda game (there was even a petition made) Nintendo are making the smart and respectful decision to not consider it at the moment as they don't want to appear to be making money off his death. (How well known is Robin Williams in Japan?) Source: wiiudaily.com/2014/08/nintendo-responds-to-petition-robin-williams/
I'm sure it has been posted already, so if it has, please forgive me for repeating it. Popeye was filmed between seasons two and three while he was doing Mork and Mindy. =)
Thanks for the video, Frah-bah.
man this was awesome
Damn, i ended up spending $50 because of this. Had to start buying up all my old Robin favorites :(
I agree with Deacon and Nostalgia Critic about Patch Adams.
All his movie's should be on psn (PlayStation network) movie section so just get all there
Dead poet's society. good film but got really sad and dark at the end
Robin was pretty much perfect for the Popeye bit, and credit to the guy who picked him...If only the bit stayed funny for more than three seconds. Then again, without this dreadful film (and Robin had his share of dreadful films, to be fair), we might never have had all his great stuff to enjoy...Life's funny like that.
Everybody dies and, frankly, many who pass can be replaced...But Robin wasn't one of them.
I'd had "Good Morning, Vietnam" sitting on my DVR for a month when he died. Had never seen it so I watched it in memoriam. Amazing film. Cried like a bitch, especially when the last words were a goodbye from Robin.
I'm sure dozens of comments already pointed this out, but Mork and Mindy first aired in 1978. Popeye was released in 1980.
When did I become the only guy who liked Mara Wilson?
I would say Hook, The Birdcage and Death To Smoochy are my favorites.
One of my favorite Videos ever!!!
Robin Williams was roommates with Christopher Reeve at Juilliard.
Rest in peace robin williams rest in peace.👏👏👏
Zelda Williams is actually REALLY pretty. o:
Sweet video
RIP Robin Williams.....or should I say Mrs. Doubtfire! c:
It just occurred to me. If you grew up in the 90s 2014 has been a horrible year.
Uncle Phil died at the very end of last year. Harold Ramis died a few months back...... Hell Roger Ebert died only a year ago and he was a big part of my childhood.... Fucking Philip Symour Hoffman.
Robin isn't even the first Hook actor to have died this year! Mr Shmee himself Bob Hoskins :(.... Oh man now I'm really sad
If you find yourself in as dark a place as Robin did throughout his life please reach out to someone. I can't begin to pretend to understand what you are going through, but I do know there are people who want to help you. Let them try.
