You do not get copyright strikes for playing music. All that will happen to your friend is, if he gets monetised the majority of the revenue will go to the record labels. The Trash Talkers play music every day. Before you're monetised, there is no risk of playing music on the channel.
Sort of the same kind of preaching as I do about supporting the small guy, I say support the local talent that is in our backyard so to speak.😎👍

Indeed it does! Hopefully, that's something UA-cam could improve upon. I'd be nice to get a bit more of a break in reaching more viewers.

There is a few exceptions to this. Never play The Eagles, Tool are quite difficult and Prince too.
