The artstyle kinda looks like the TV show Archer, so it's not terrible. But, like you said, the original has much better art direction and animation. I can hardly understand the voices in the remake but in the original it's clear ("You caught me off guard!!") It actually looks like they put their best effort into it in 1993, the remake looks like they sorta tried.

I had enough of comments advocating pixel art. That needs to stop! Pixel art is a crutch. It’s all about pleasing the vocal nostalgic audience. The modern hand drawn art can be done properly with enough resources. Beef up the frames.

I'm still trying to process how you can fuck this up that hard. Nothing seems to align properly and it looks more rigid and choppy than the original. Worst part has to be the grabs. Like what the hell is even happening? It looks like it's straightup glitched. And then there's the first boss' death animation, which is ten times worse than the original. Unbelievable.
The grabs bother me so much. It takes the game half a second to comprehend whats going one which leads to preventable hits and no invincibility during throws
