    I've always been very curious about Eva Braun -- she obviously loved Hitler, and I think, to the point he was capable, he loved her. This is an extremely interesting video, and I thank you for sharing it.

      +aerlial360 My father was a WW II vet -- ETO -- and most of what I learned about WW II was through him. I am now in my mid 60s, and am finding out that much of what I was taught was actually the sanitized version of history from one side. I believe the Rothschild Family zionists played a very large part in most of the wars that have occurred, and the continuing skirmishes -- playing both sides against the middle is profitable for them no matter who "wins" in the end. This is the story of history and there are many, many tentacles. Connecting the dots takes a lot of time and research but is worth the effort. This is certainly changing my perspective on many things.

    Thank you again for this high quality documentary. I have seen many docos on The Bunker, the last days of WW2 & Hitler's complex relationship with Eva Braun etc, but a lot of the colour footage of her I have never seen anywhere before. Thumbs up! Hitler's bodyguard Rochus Misch [the last survivor of The Bunker] died in Sept. 2013, still claiming at 96 that 'The Boss' was a good man, lol.

      ***** Strewth mate, u didn't miss me did u? Why be argumentative, confrontational & insulting to me personally? We are here to discuss this video intelligently & objectively, or so I thought [what is your agenda?]. I am not attacking u & I say this in a friendly & curious way, But what on earth makes u think I expected a global view from Misch? I am an historian, well read & I am sure u are too. Please read again what I said [with irony] when I said Misch [not me!!] was 'still claiming...The Boss was a good man'...it was his deluded, nearsighted, ideologically brainwashed & jaundiced view as a Nazi acolyte & I am sorry if I did not make that clear enough for u, really I am. It's always to interesting to hear both sides of war imho, as it gives one a view as to how the 'enemy' was indoctrinated...is that not what u were trying to imply? [but don't apply that to me my friend...peace].

    This is not complicated. Eva Braun was a simple girl, a teenager when she met Hitler. She fell in love. Head over heals in love. She wanted to be like everyone else, marry and have children but that was not to be. Her life was lived in the shadows, loving her man. I don't think she gave a great deal of thought to what he did or did not do.
    She simply loved him.
    She did not understand how he could leave for Berlin or elsewhere and forget to find her and say goodbye. She did not understand any of it. But, the felt the pain of not be loved in return and the pain was so great she attempted suicide twice. To get his attention perhaps. Or, the pain of unrequited love was just too great.
    For Eva, to be married to her man, after sixteen years, even if they were to die ....was enough.
    No one knows for sure if they made it out of the bunker or not. There remains were never found. Whatever happened to them Eva's dreams came true and for thirty six hours, or years to come, she was the wife of Adolf Hitler.

    Eva Braun seems a lot like Goebbels to me. There's a documentary on here featuring Goebbel's diary entries and in it he talks of suicide/depressive thoughts quite a lot. He was a man that needed a purpose and needed to feel wanted, I think Eva was the same.
    She was desperate to be wanted and loved, in walks this older man into the shop she is working in, a man who is on the up in the world and already adored by many people. For him to notice and take an interest in her must have felt amazing from her point of view, especially as he could have had his pick of women. It's very easy to see how she fell under his spell and followed him to his death, I do believe that she loved him and in a way I think he did love her because she was young, vibrant and fun to be around.
    I don't think he loved her as much as she loved him but he respected and admired her loyalty, which is why I think he chose to marry her. When a lot of his top men were turning against him and desperately trying to take control away from him, here was a woman who could easily have run away and saved herself but instead she stood by him and refused to leave even though it was clear the war was lost.

    He wanted to marry Eva but he was already married to Germany, only when she abandonned him did he become available and he finally could marry Eva. She had been at his side for a long time, always respectful and loving, she was where she wanted to be and it's all that matters.

    Great documentary with images of Eva I've never seen despite years of watching documentaries. I honestly believe that Hitler loved, even truly adored, his half-niece Geli. There is quite a lot of evidence that he loved her (I am not speculating as to whether their relationship actually included physical aspects), and that he was quite a different person around her. Her suicide, which devastated him, basically destroyed the part of him that was capable of any deep love of a woman, and it is obvious that Eva was rewarded for her intense loyalty and ability to cheer him in his darkest days. With Geli he was entirely different -- very possessive, very protective, lavishing presents and adoration on her. He was never, ever entranced by Eva and was even indifferent to her most of the time.

    After watching this video many times, I get a true picture of the personality of Eva Braun. Is there any moment when she frowns in a serious manner here? No. She was childlike and innocent. Despite the war, she tried to live life to the fullest. One can not blame her for that.

    • @starxwars5980
      @starxwars5980 8 років тому +3

      JJ K It is pretty weird. I agree with that, but there are many explanations for it. Hitler very much kept the women in his life in the background. Which means he didn't spend much time with them. Even with his wife Eva, he remained distant from her unless they were somewhere private. All in all it must have been very hard for them to be that distant to him, but still be in a relationship. He wasn't a bad guy. It's not like he purposely wanted to kill them.

    • @DJ_POOP_IT_OUT_FEAT_LIL_WiiWii
      @DJ_POOP_IT_OUT_FEAT_LIL_WiiWii 8 років тому

      brokenscene I said nothing implied, I think it's ridiculous to think he killed them. Being distant doesn't explain much to me. I mean distant couples do exists these days and I doubt a guy would experience these issues multiple times, it's a pretty big coincidence.

    • @starxwars5980
      @starxwars5980 8 років тому

      JJ K True, there is most likely something more. I've looked at every website I could find to try and add things up about it, but unless it was his violent mood swings he got, the fact he was never there, or that he was a bit obsessive I can't find anything. I kind of think geli (his niece) was very jealous of Eva... Plus before Geli's death the maids in his house said they could hear them yelling at each other. So many questions, not many answers to them.

    • @DJ_POOP_IT_OUT_FEAT_LIL_WiiWii
      @DJ_POOP_IT_OUT_FEAT_LIL_WiiWii 8 років тому +1

      brokenscene I have a few ideas about it but it's all supposition so unlikely to be ever historically accurate. Maybe the women he chose were very isolated socially. Maybe the situation they were in felt like a trap for some reason. Maybe it was a call for attention. Maybe it was more common to commit suicide in this era because of social pressures.

    Countless times in this documentary we hear that he was incapable of real love.
    It's rather a telling tale of irony that Hitler's love for Britain and refusal to attack it for so long- while Britain had declared war with Germany- ended up as the cause of his regime's downfall.
    Had Hitler ignored his love for the Brits, then we would all live in a national-socialist regime, be that good or bad (we won't know).

    What I've realized about these WW2 atrocities is that they are not without ancient examples in other cultures. Our human race does repeat horrific behaviour and the question of 'how do we allow this to take root in the first place'? The shock in the aftermath, in this case, for the German families left to pick up the pieces while Hitler disappears/dies, is obviously still being dealt with. Our collective good nature must be available to assist in their process of healing.

  • @johnbacon1854
    @johnbacon1854 7 років тому +4

    Dr Alan Brown, that was a very interesting take on the life of Eva Brown. There are several other version of events of course, mainly focusing on Hitler himself. However whatever really was the truth she certainly had not only in some ways a charmed life, but also stepped in sadness and loneliness too.
    Perhaps when this story mentions when Hitler told Eva to find another man as he could no longer satisfy her, was when Hitler had become dependent on drugs to fight all his anxieties.
    The one thing that does puzzle me though, was it really Hitler that was burnt that day. Suicide (considering 2 previous attempts) would be an easy way out for Eva, but for Hitler? Possibly....... but I find the wrapping of blankets and burning somewhat of such a nasty thing to do to the man that was for many years been the icon of Germany, was he hated that much. Maybe it was written instruction, your story didn't say. However there is strong argument that they both went to Argentina.
    Burning Eva too to me was very callous, she should of been returned to her family.
    Very interesting watch though if not quite, as it was said............. a love story become Greek tragedy.

    People are commenting about her lack of power. I mean at 17 she met an older man who at the time was attractive to her and in power. It’s sometimes just that simple. And by the time she could have realized ANYTHING do you think she would have ever said anything? Or was she so young and impressionable she just felt he could do no wrong? Only she knows that answer but I do know it’s likely one of the two. I don’t look at Kim Jong Un’s wife and think “why doesn’t she speak up more?” Of course they wouldn’t speak up more. I don’t think Eva expected how things went down to actually be the way things would go down. And I’ve heard other documentaries where a journalist who even ASKED too many questions about their relationship was sent to a concentration camp as a result. Is she evil? Is she a victim? I have no idea. But I do know she had a million reasons to behave the way she did and I also have always questioned if she wanted to REALLY die or not that day or if she kind of accepted it and wrote things in her personal journal to convince herself.

    Good to see a new video going up seen all the others now . Thanks for the tip on Wolf Hall ; one of the best historical dramas for years . I feel that it really caught the spirit of the time . I think the idea of a reasonable and relatively humanitarian Cromwell is reflected by the facts . Very few monks were harmed by the dissolution of the monasteries and many got pensions etc . A grab of money and land on this scale could have easily turned into a bloodbath . As I was educated as RC ; I was told their side of the story . It was clear that the church was corrupt and were keen not to let the laeity know what the Gospels said . It also shows that Henry was the driver of all these things but could not be bothered with the detail . He certainly didn't want an English bible . Anyone who has read the text of Jesus' teachings can clearly see that they are anarcist ( in the true sense of the word )and would turn the staus quo upside down .
    You would see this with the levellers in Oliver Cromwell's era . these were put down just as violently as the " heretics " of Henry VIIIs time .

    Bad enough to go to Hell, but to go to Hell for Hitler! Very sad that her life was wasted but what is the profit in the loss of your soul? There is no shortage of people who make bad choices and bad decisions and lots of stupid mistakes. People should learn from this about the stupidity of shacking-up with people because of their power, or even because of other things. The whole arrangement was macabre from day one and the final ending was inevitable since they were both spiritually dead for a long long time. Sad nonetheless.

    I think it's easy to look back and think "oh he's a monster" but to Ava he was a powerful leader and she was a young woman with little political understandings. I think it probably felt like a chance to be a Queen, a female fantasy. I think that she fell for him for that reason and then got trapped BC he was a cold and distant person and she was a convenience to him. If for whatever reason the tables were turned Hitler would not of died for Ava or chosen Ava over Germany. In the end though he at least cared enough to make her an honest woman. Could of been gratitude for her loyalty or even just to make him a more honest man in how he is remembered ( dying with his wife vs his mistress sounds better). This was strange documentary with what I felt was a lot said between the lines. Most of the personal accounts seem 100℅ genuine, except for the sister. Lots of unanswered questions. I laughed when the sister started chuckling about depressed men being bad in bed. And something was edited out (poorly) about the bodies when they were found.

    People always condemn Hitler and the NAZI for genocide but they didn't do anything that conquering armies haven't done for all of human history. For most of human history when an army conquered an other country they would kill almost all the people so they could use their land and then keep a few for slaves. If you want to condemn Hitler and the NAZI then you should also condemn the ancient Greeks also because when they conquered someone they would kill all the people so they could use their land. There was a war. The NAZI lost but don't be a hypocrite and condemn them just because they lost the war. The didn't do anything that almost every other conquering army has done before.

    Placing their first meeting in the photoshop doesn't tell the whole story according to another documentry I've recently watched. Hitler was in love with his niece who stayed with him in his Munich apartment at the time. She committed suicide in that apartment leaving a letter that no one could bare what her uncle asked of her. This relationship and the letter almost cost him his political career until members of the party "acted" and introduced him to Eva Braun, assistant to his future photographer Hoffmann. Maybe there is someone among you with a deeper knowledge of the story and can verify one of the both stories....

It is the personal correlation to the death and destruction that comes when people deceive themselves that they will not be kept accountable for not following the true teachings of the Holy Scriptures, Koran, etc.

      The recent Channel 5 one could have been quite compelling but was spoiled by most of the talking heads giving their precious tupennyworth. Nearly all their interjections were hardly insightful or illuminating,especially the historian chap from the Liverpool university,who seemed to think that he had to sloganeer and sermonise down to the masses as often as possible for fear that they would turn into fascists if he didn't keep laying it on thick with a trowel. The presenter lapsed into the superfluous on one or two occasions as well. Sometimes less is more. They needed to restrain themselves,credit their audience with a bit of intelligence and the makers take a leaf out The World at War and such and,like on that and on this documentary,leave the insights to those who were actually there at the time!
