- This is the second video in a series dedicated to harpsichord stringing. This video will show you how to make a hitchpin loop. The hitchpin loop is critical to the stability of the harpsichord's tuning. It is also one of the trickiest skills for harpsichord owners to learn. I sincerely hope this v
I made a Flemish single 49 years ago when Zuckermann was still in Manhattan. Many moves later I have misplaced the manual and three .008 inch soft iron treble strings needed to be replaced. I still have the hammer/ stringing tool and a small roll of the original wire. This beautifully made video was all that I needed to refresh my 80 year-old brain's memory. Well done, thank you!
thank you so much for this - I built a Zuckermann French Double years ago and recently needed to fix a few strings (and I'd completely forgotten how to do it) - BTW the harpsichord is beautiful - I enjoy playing it every day.

@@frediheld5649 I have a Zuckermann kit. It was a pleasure to build and I called the factory a lot and they were always helpful. You might try them and see if they have what you want
This video saved my ass today. Thank you.
Richard, this is an excellent video. I've just sent the link to a friend.
thanks, Dongsok. I am glad you found it useful.
We need a good video of putting a string on an old style tuning pin without a hole!
you are right. I will do it!
I’ve just done that and it slips. However JB Weld stops it slipping. Perhaps I’m rubbish at it.
Looks pretty easy in brass but wait until you try a .10 steel one. It takes a lot of practice to develop a feel for getting it right.
How thick and what material do you recommend the stings to be?
Where is part III if it still exists?
Winding on to timing pin? We are working on it.
@@RichardAuber Looking forward to it. Much harder than the linch pin loop.
have them already used the steel wire for the music in the Renaissance-Baroque era?
Ouch! A harpsichord sting!
Ok goode...am on my / your way...
Thank you...so easi...🐸
