Actually, Blank, I heard that in some cultures, you're not supposed to ask for help, but accept it when its offered. That could be what inspired the Yak's culture, perhaps?
I once heard a story about an American on business in Europe (I can't remember which country), and his rental car got a flat tire. As he struggled to change the tire a truck pulled up, but the driver did not exit his vehicle. As the American grew more and more frustrated with changing the tire he kept wondering why the other man wasn't helping him. Finally he couldn't take it any longer and went over to the truck and asked the man inside to please help him. The man let out a sigh of relief and said, "I thought you'd never ask!" So, yeah different cultures have different ways of asking for assistance. In this story the American expected the guy to jump out and see if he needed help, but the European expected the man to come up and tell him if he needed help.
Interesting. So yeah, different cultures have different ways of doing even the most mundane of things. I just wish they had made that a little clearer in this episode.
Kelaiah01 I don't think it's just limited to culture. From personal experience, my mum is really ill and we can't afford the care she needs. Yes we *need* help, but that doesn't mean we have anyone to ask. If you can see someone needs help, you should help them regardless of whether or not they are able to ask for it.
Public transportation where I live runs everyday but Sunday. I usually work Sundays and I don't have a car. So often times that means walking. I've never put my thumb out, I've never asked people I pass if they could help me out with a lift. It just feels wrong for me to ask. Just feels like by asking I'm saying I'm weak, and that by asking I'm pressuring people to do something for me that they don't want to do. But it is 4.5 miles so if someone does offer a lift I'm saying yes.
The moral, as far as I can tell, is something along the lines of the importance of cross-cultural intelligence in your interactions with friends of different cultures.
The cultural clash makes a lot more sense if you know that in several real-world countries it's considered shameful to ask for help, but expected to give it to those in need without being asked. With this in mind, rutherford could be seen as refusing to ask for help because he doesn't expect pinkie to NEED him to ask for help.
...Except Pinkie didn't tell the yaks to ask the ponies for help at first. She said she's go back to Ponyville and get them without the yaks asking. Not to mention the frequent reactions of the yaks in this episode (such as liking Pinkie's story and being afraid to disagree with Rutherford) indicated this was never a cultural thing but simply yaks being scared to disobey the will of their leader. So...muddled moral.
I liked this episode surprisingly much. Pinkie was written exactly in the way I love, she was still goofy and silly, but also acting pretty mature. Yaks may not be the best but I still liked seeing Pinkie interacting with a different culture. Also, the pout face on 18:27
theslyfox Oh Idk about that, most people just already disliked the yaks and the episode did sorta come after an epic one, so i do understand how some people would not like it
6:51 - 7:00 Y'know what this reminds me of? Did you know, In Pakistan, they actually slap cow shit (With their bare hands) on wall exteriors for insulation when building houses? YakYakistan = North of Pakistan, and since Yaks are technically a species of cow, then......
25:05 "It's gonna be awhile before that (top 5) list changes, because we don't know when the season's coming back yet." Australia's already aired episode 12 and is scheduled to air episode 13 tomorrow, so it can't be too long for the rest of us. (My guess is Discovery Family created an artificial break to make room for the EqG specials.)
I'm convinced that this village is actually the boondocks of Yakyakistan, where Rutherford was exiled to minimize the shame he brings to the yak royal family. Sadly, the villagers still have to endure him.
If your friends need help and they tell you not to, help them anyways. It's better that they get the help they need and hating you for a few moments than them being okay with you and destroying themselves.
I viewed this episode almost in the same sense as AJ "Day" Off, it was a low-key slow paced episode, but I still enjoyed it. I've noticed a trend here though. So far most of the episodes are like a retelling of a similar previous episode (normally a S1 and 2 episode) and made me enjoy it more. This episode reminded me of Apple Buck Season, where as I really didn't like that episode, but I enjoyed this one. Pinkie was the stand out for me for sure and it was awesome to see the Pinkie I know and love back.
5:23 Prince Rutherford: "Pink pony better check self before wreck self." Blank: "Why? Who wrote this?!" Believe it or not, one of the writers of book three of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Alright, time for season 7 episode 11 "Not Asking for Trouble". This episode didn't really have anything major happen. It isn't bad, but it isn't amazing, either. Anyways, let's get started. And... play. 0:11 Yeah, it was weird enough having the midseason finale last season being at episode 12, but at episode 11 this season is ridiculous. 0:31 It's because nothing really happened in it, other than the return of the yaks. It's kind of hard to follow up the best episode of the season so far. I actually kind of wished episode 10 was the last episode before the midseason hiatus. That would've been the perfect way to pause the season. 0:49 Even though the first EQG special has been out in Poland for almost 2 months :| Can't wait to see your reaction to that. though! 0:53 **Yak voice** Bring ponies to me now! 1:02 That's Rainbow's thing, Pinkie. 1:06 R.I.P. apples. 1:08 Thanks for the help, Fluttershy!
Nice to see continuity again but tbh this episode was another one of the weaker ones of the season there were some funny bits with pinkie that I liked and seeing gummy again is a treat as always (pun intended) interesting to get more world building but all in all not my favorite episode 6/10
Charlie Odinoco So if I can prevent one of your loved ones from dieing, I shouldn't do it? Because talent? Because I think my privacy is more important?
You don’t have to wait for your friend to ask for help before you can actually help them. Some folks are just too stubborn to ask despite how much they actually want it. I know how that is. Being the stubborn type...
honestly if it wasn't for you reacting to this episode, I don't think I would rewatch it. episodes like fall weather friends and bridal gossip I could watch many times but this falls into that little group of episodes that I don't think I would revisit ( expecialy power ponies)
Pinkie pie: DO U WANT TO SPEND THE DAY WITH ME?!?! me: oh hell no Her: -_- Me: ._. Her: (talking gibberish) Me: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! (We go in her room: HER: NO COOK>:(
hey blank check do you think you can see if if the banana video with Princess Celestia being a banana is long enough cuz I really want you to react with that one it's called I'm a banana
aside from seeing the yaks, this episode wasn't that exiting for me. the gave us a bomb last episode so the had to calm everypony down. that's what I think anyway
unfortunately i have to admit that i didn't really like this episode which really is a shame. i was among the very few people who actually liked the yaks back in their first episode. they were a bit rough, sure, but they weren't just rude for no reason as most people seemed to believe and they always had a reason for their behavior. secretly, i was always hoping that the next time we see them that they were shown to better than most in the fandom believe, and while i somewhat did get my wish -- rutherford was shown to be rather gracious host towards pinkie. not only did he personally take time out of his schedule as a ruler to personally show her around his kingdom, he also did point out that they decorated just for pinkie's sake, and the whole avalanche thing only happened because they were partying extra hard in hopes of impressing pinkie -- however the nonsense moral at the end kinda ruined the whole thing. i wish they'd given us a proper reason for the way the yaks acted, not just ... this :(
bro we night be loosing starlight. I just finished the new eq specials and... well it hints at a shitload of stuff. we could be replacing starlight with sunset and I'ma just be quiet now..
"publicly shame them. " Yeah the odd meme usage was...rather out of nowhere. Yakalanche- That pun was AWESOME! Justin Herrington Good story. I would venture to say your story is accurate.
I'm American.
Just had some European family come down.

Excellent counterpoint. while i myself can see some parallels, i will admit that they are far from perfect parallels and probably unintentional.
6:05 "Yaks hate goats!"
That would explain why they didn't like Pinkie's story later.
I liked this episode surprisingly much. Pinkie was written exactly in the way I love, she was still goofy and silly, but also acting pretty mature.

lol you're funny dude, wasn't expecting the laughs :)
1:21 "That was a flash of pink and a scream of... pleasure."
Two things that are often associated with each other in a very different context.
21:59 "Those horns came from my great-grandfather."
Nopony else was allowed to become an honorary yak after Pinkie Pie. She was grandfathered in. :)
6:51 - 7:00 Y'know what this reminds me of?

YakYakistan = North of Pakistan, and since Yaks are technically a species of cow, then......
16:12 Pink Pony used Logic. It wasn't very effective...
20 million questions with Pinkie????
Challenge Accepted!!!!
😕
MoonCrest 113 I will take that frown and raise you a😃
Okay!😆

Hasbro - QUICK. GET YAK HORN MERCH MADE STAT!
"You really got my goat."
"GOAT? WHERE?"
Omg you needed to have written this episode. That was actually funny.
18:34 Applejack, you used Hun instead of Sugarcube. Is there something you're not telling us?
JoeChillers oh my~~
Ikr? XD I expected her to say sugarcune XD
"It's a yakalanch!"
That made me snort spicy ramen out of my nose. Just thought you'd like to know that.
"Yak now a widow" is probably the best random line I've heard today XD
I'm convinced that this village is actually the boondocks of Yakyakistan, where Rutherford was exiled to minimize the shame he brings to the yak royal family.
Sadly, the villagers still have to endure him.
19:59 No comment on how cute Fluttershy was being there?
You'll like episode 12 i watched someone stream it in australia so i watched it early :P
"It's a Yak-alanche." 😆
I read that as he said that!😂
If your friends need help and they tell you not to, help them anyways. It's better that they get the help they need and hating you for a few moments than them being okay with you and destroying themselves.
watched the Canadian release and had completely forgotten this episode
*Yak like reaction!*
*Yak not destroy*
22:45 the moral is..."If you know somepony needs something...just do it. They'll learn to like it" Love...Princess Molestia :^)

I never said I hated the episode. Calm the fuck down.
Alright, where's the 2 Days Late but Still Awesome Squad? Party!
Blank Slate and Bronymonster44 post their reactions to the same mlp episodes at the same time XD exactly 56 mins ago
21:45 I do NOT want to imagine R34 of Yaks and Pinkie. Stop that. Honorary Yak lewdness tent was NOT PART OF THE BROCHURE!
i loved this episode. Pinky Pie was so understanding about another culture.
Nice to see continuity again but tbh this episode was another one of the weaker ones of the season there were some funny bits with pinkie that I liked and seeing gummy again is a treat as always (pun intended) interesting to get more world building but all in all not my favorite episode 6/10
That's the second time in a half of a season that someone said "Picking up what I'm putting down."
This is... something.
I just want to point out; -Twatlight- Twilight made those seedlings sprout in 2 seconds... why do we need -Mudponies- Earthponies again?
Haylox I share a theory that Twilight was actually harnessing her Earth Pony magic but merged it with her unicorn magic due to being an Alicorn.
Autum Breeze Sure. I agree. -Twat- I mean Twi is OP. However.. if u had that power, shouldn't u use it all the time?
Just because you have a talent doesn't mean you use it all the time, that's why superheroes have secret identities
Charlie Odinoco So if I can prevent one of your loved ones from dieing, I shouldn't do it? Because talent? Because I think my privacy is more important?
Haylox you're dense as a rock and stubborn as a yak, good night sir
It’s all about cultural respect and competence when I watch this MLP episode.
The yaks are back, and back to the past, its samuri yak.
Applehorse going "I'LL BRING APPLES!" really got to me for some reason, it's hurting me.
Guess who's back. Back again.
Those damn yaks!
You don’t have to wait for your friend to ask for help before you can actually help them. Some folks are just too stubborn to ask despite how much they actually want it.
I know how that is. Being the stubborn type...
9:03 ouch...it hurts...that pun physically wounded me. I'm suing! -~-
This is simply a pleasant episode.
About half way through, gummy makes the death sound effect for a scorpion man from age of mythology, what will they take sound effects from next?
Awwwwee!
The yaxs are so nice!
It would have been awesome to see more zebras. Now I want that episode.
I actually liked this episode!! I thought it was a really good one and I've always liked the yaks
So.. I can't wait to see your next Commentary to Episode 12 and 13. :D :D
They are out, if you did not know.
HURRY UP AND WATCH THE MIDSEASON FINALE!!!!!!!!!!
5:24
*No...just stop*
I question who wrote this too
1:26 I nearly spit out my Pepi lol
honestly if it wasn't for you reacting to this episode, I don't think I would rewatch it. episodes like fall weather friends and bridal gossip I could watch many times but this falls into that little group of episodes that I don't think I would revisit ( expecialy power ponies)
OMG The Yak Puns Must Stop!
I'm gonna have the word. "Yak" stuck in my head for the rest of my life
Yak Wilhelm scream! Yakhelm scream? 5:16
XD
Whenever you see the baloon...
Theme...
Pinkie Pie inviting herself to the Yack's festival comes across as rude. Prince Rutheford looked shocked & near-offended.
After slice of life when I see gummy I I feel uneasy I wonder what he's thinking! he could be plotting to kill pinkie
before watching older videos
I haven't been here in this channel a long time
what is going on on season 7? and other movies....
I had school...
Oh my god, I couldn't stop laughing at this video!!!!
1:01 GOTTA GO FAST 💨
Pinkie pie: DO U WANT TO SPEND THE DAY WITH ME?!?!

Her: -_-
Me: ._.

Me: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
(We go in her room:

Welp, something had to follow the last episode.
Pinkie pie: let's play 20000000 questions
Me: NO GOD PLEASE NO!
So many Yak jokes.
Early squad, report for duty!
YAKS LIKE JOHN CAGE 4 MINUTES 33 SECONDS MUSIC.
Blank Check: YAKS HATE WOOD!
Me: Uuuuhhh... Should I leave?
Snow horn sounds like a pony OC.
Pinkie eats the entire cake again
I can't believe it. we are at the mid season break. how long do we have to wait?
There was an episode after TEN? Whaat...
Gummy is my spirit animal
hey blank check do you think you can see if if the banana video with Princess Celestia being a banana is long enough cuz I really want you to react with that one it's called I'm a banana
Your so funny don't stop this stuff
aside from seeing the yaks, this episode wasn't that exiting for me. the gave us a bomb last episode so the had to calm everypony down. that's what I think anyway

13:53 ME!!!
You do realize the Equestria Girls specials are already available on the Internet, right?

Yaks like dominos
This ribbon sticks on her chest
aaahhhh when is ep 12
What happen to Pinkie Pie's Pinkie Sense?
Green Bolt I guess her senses are turned off at Yak Yakistan due to the Yak's holiday.
Pink pony don’t need apple 🍎 pony help
Yakborn ( skyrim reference btw)
Is Yakyakistan a parody of one of those former soviet union countries, like Kazakstan or Turkmanistan?
Alonzo Aldaba Yea didn't it feel somewhat communistic
R.Henry Jr.
countries before the rise of the soviet union and even before the russian empire where like that. It's more like the Mongolian empire era.
Alonzo Aldaba oh ok but still It did feel like that a bit
I always thought it was a play on Pakistan. Yakistan would be too obvious, so they doubled the yak and thus Yakyakistan.
I don't know why but I love him and his voice, oh well I guess I'm gay now lol :p
Hey Blank, I have a suggestion for a reaction, the Analysis Anarchy tf2 series,I know it's somewhat old at this point, but still
Ha Ha. yakalache.
Am i missing something?? Why does he always say Canada at the begining??
Blank Check Best Pony!
Red unicorn knows pony shows and shows Bronies and Pegasisters how is done.
"publicly shame them. " Yeah the odd meme usage was...rather out of nowhere.
Yakalanche- That pun was AWESOME!
And nice tming on talking about a brain freeze
Yeah this was a rather.. odd... moral yet overall a decent, but not great ep, just, basic, middle of the road 'decent'.
And.... yeah your commentary was more entertaining then the ep was in a lot points.
Pony yak!
BLANK MY OLD FRIEND!!!
