My son bought himself a 89xt 350 and the compression release doesn't work every time or engage fully at times , what if anything can we do ? Other than not skip leg day lol literally lol ...... Thank you for your video on bleeding oil or priming the oil pump it was super helpful !
Probably the mechanism under the clutch cover working intermittently. You could also convert it to a manual compression release with a lever on the handlebars if you don't want to repair/replace the mechanism.
My cable broke, but I didn’t really bothered to fix it. It is not hard to start it at all. What you have to do is go pass the compression stroke but stop right after it. Then release the kickstart in its top position and give it a kick. At that point you will not have to pass the compression an the kick will be very easy. Mine starts first kick every time. It’s an 1987.
Then there could be a problem with the oil pump you'll have to diagnose. You could also use a mityvac tool to apply vacuum to the bleed hole and see if you can prime the pump that way. Then see if the pump will start pushing oil.
Thank you. This was handy. I bled both the oil filter housing and up to the top banjo bolt with this method.
How do you know how much oil to add to it? Mine doesn't have a sight glass or anything but I got the same model and there's no dipstick.
Pretty sure this one had a dipstick. Wasn't my bike, just helping a friend.
According to this guy 1.3 Liters. ua-cam.com/video/kBxGq_VmFsM/v-deo.htmlsi=fo-OsrfLMHvBalOo&t=300
Nice video to explain that, thank you
54 kicks counted 😎

@@Caffeineracer I was thinking if it would be possible to convert it to a manual . I'll check it out . thank you

Y eso es imprescindible?
What if the bleeding doesn't brings oil to the top?

Old school
Start and let it run until oil runs out of that hole, per manual.
Just got an 88 a month after my 98 was stolen, never ever used that oil bleed screw
It’s hard to hear what you’re saying while your cranking on the kick start.
waste of time
