  • This is a continuation of my previous video where I fixed the power supply but encountered a blue screen during playback. The VCR had some problems with the tape loading mechanism and you will see the complete steps in properly placing the gears on the bottom. Watch carefully as some alignment details are not obvious.

    Thank you for posting this!!!! I found the gear at Studio Sound Electronics. I was able to perform the repair with your advice. I am sure I would not have been able to figure it out by myself!

    I really liked the nice, clean Bird's Eye footage. It was great having everything laid out in one shot.
    It is a real help to see where the different mechanisms are located on top of the circuit board.
    Thanks for sharing the Business name. Best to know where to get these cogs.

    Good eyes. I think it may be due to one of the broken wire connection that may be controlling the capstan upward movement. I cannot say for sure what is the cause.

    I have the Sony 676UC deck that has the left arm not functioning just like the one in your video. I have not yet tried to take the mechanical section apart (or remove it from the machine) yet but I suspect that the gear is broken, just as you mentioned in your video. Can you supply this gear? If so, how do I go about getting it from you? Thanks.

    Fantastic- but one of the ribbon cables came loose, and have no idea how to plug it back into the black connector-- can you give instructions?-- so so much appreciated!!

      Ed Deet Without seeing it, I cannot say with certainty how to do it. However, one tip is to use a long tweezer to put back a connector in a hard to reach spot.

    Wow- really enjoyed the video-- I have a Sony SLV R5UC with the exact problem!-- but I can't find a manufacturer or supplier for the part. Could you forward me the supplier you were able to get your part from?-- It LOOKs like the part may be universal to the Sony VCR's. BTW- do you have a video of how to remove the circuit board at the bottom that covers the gears?-- I cannot seem to get it disconnected, and I don't want to break the cables. Again, many thanks for sharing!

      Chantal Bertin What parts do you need? I may have them. About removing the circuit board, a long tweezer may help in disconnecting some connector. If you see one or two connectors with exposed bare flat wires, those are detachable at the main board end. It should disconnect with ease.

    Can anyone tell me why my Go-Video double deck VCR has a foggy picture even after I've cleaned the heads 27 times?

    • @conceptedge
      @conceptedge  9 років тому

      Mathew Lerandeau The head drum could need replacement. It depends on its age, usage, and environment,. Head drum does not last forever, and eventually loses its coating. It would be helpful it you could post a video showing the symptom.

      I don't know how to post a video on UA-cam. This Double Deck VCR is from 94. Do you think it's foggy cause of my HD T.V?

      1000uf thanks for the reply. You really think it could be bad capacitors? All the power functions seem to work well i.e. no blinking or dimming lights. It seems as if when the tape is in the down position something is not telling the machine to advance further. I've already put a new mode switch in so I don't think it's that.
