If you look closely, you can see that there are goalies in net! Craziest roller coaster of a game I've ever seen haha
no one wants to talk about how they were both terrible
@@DannyCosmos I don't know about the Oilers goalie but the Flames one was terrible
@@DannyCosmos 😂🤦🏻♂️👍🏻
@@DannyCosmos That's literally all I've seen commentators talking about
I stopped watching after 5-1 CGY, than wtf its a one goal game all of a sudden
insane game, this series is gonna be nuts.
They just had to make up for long periods of time with goals. (Cuz it's been a bit since the last battle of Alberta)
Translation: You are just happy the flames won
What a method
on god
BOTH coaches to teams before game. I want the defense to take the night off. They followed the coaches advice to perfection :) Seriously, Oilers can't afford to play "Shootout" every game. This will be the same result if they do.
The whole game is a highlight, was the best way to waste an afternoon (raining) here in New Zealand watching this fantastic game, looking forward to the next 6 games in this series
Aoteroa has hockey? Cheers bruh
@@rolandhaumann4248 yep, got to use ESPN and have Sky TV and sports. there are other ways but can't be bothered with them.

Can someone explain how the 8th goal was not offsides?
@@a_squuared7530 its not offside if the oilers bring it back in?
What a start. What a comeback. What a game.
That was the most ridiculous game I’ve ever seen. Gonna be one hell of a series.
SHORT
I agree. The whole game was just weird
Oh so this is not how Flames normally play?
@@muCephei_ haha no lol the defense is usually way better and markstrom usually doesn't let in 3 maybe 4 of the goals he was weirdly always super deep in his net this game

Kylington's smug smile at Kane in the penalty box when Tkachuk scored was priceless.

Can someone explain how the 8th goal was not offsides?
@@a_squuared7530 Because the puck hit an Oilers player which doesn't count as am offside
@@zacharylelievre94 Gotcha, thanks.
All 3 goalies involved were doing their best sieve impressions. The impressions were quite accurate and well done
Best part of this game .... Keith Tkachuk refusing to throw his hat onto the ice after Matthew’s third goal because “it’s his favourite hat” ... Lol 😂👍🏼
Only bald people will understand.
Empty net goal 😝
True Chad Dad: not even a hat trick from his son will impress him 😂😂😂
I would have kept mine for an empty netter as a hat trick lol
What a game! I thought the flames had blown it in P2. Great battle
What a great night of hockey. The Canes game offered fans a spectacular goalie duel and this game offered fans an epic slugger fest. Can't wait for tomorrow night's games!
It was an extreme juxtaposition of outcomes. I expected a low scoring in the first, and not much more in the second.
Веселенькая игра получилась,смотреть одно удовольствие!Спасибо парни!Макдэвид,конечно,машина!😊👍
This was crazy, no defense or battles in front of the net, no bodychecking from both sides. Just insane. But exiting
I believe these teams had a 9-5 game in their last regular season meeting. But Darryl is going to read the Flames the riot act for their defensive lapses. But the game also showed that dangerous as potent as the Oiler's offense is, Calgary can score with them.
Turnovers were absolutely dreadful but fun to watch
Yup those mid ice turnovers im already yelling at my TV lol
@@tladd1002 Dang It.
Idk how tf to tag someone on here but yes Cayde 7 my hat is crumpled because I already crumpled it during those turnovers from the oilers.
Jeez, did both teams play with empty nets? The scoring is as high as the inflation rate. What a hell of a game.
haha as a flames fan idk what tf markstrom was doing so deep in his net all game he def should've saved 3 maybe 4
They'd have been better off with an extra attacker than these goalies.
Blame trudeau
@@dmullz100 we all can blame Trudumb for a lot of things
Kane probably bet the 'under' on the game.😂😂😂
An exciting game from both teams! Congrats to the Flames for the win tonight!
Великолепный матч, смотреть одно удовольствие! Борьба до конца!
Кстати, если они всю 7ми матчевую серию проведут в таком ритме☝️😉 это будет рекорд по голам на все времена🔥🔥🔥🤩👍
This series is going to be more entertaining than watching my favorite team! Goalies were practically non-existent this game. Markstrom let up 6 goals on 22 shots Smith let up 3 goals in 9 shots. The best goalie of the night was Edmonton backup and he still let up 6 goals on 38 shots
5 .. one was an empty netter but you’re right still 😂
@@rt3983 Facts I didn’t even think about that. Still trash though😂
Reminds me of the street hockey we used to play - skate the length of the ice unopposed and score😅

What a great game. Flames jumped on to a 3 goal lead at the start and the ended with a 3 goal lead. Lot's of firepower on both sides. This is why it is called battle of Alberta.
Did McDavid play or gaudreau when they invented that name?
On the contrary, this was kind of an awful game in the sense of quality hockey. Entertaining as hell? Yes. Absolute failure on both goalies and defensive systems? Also yes. terrible hockey can either be the most exciting or the least exciting hockey.
@@heckogoop4318 This was like an All Star game where offense is eveything.

That was such an exciting game for me. I have never seen such high scores in the playoffs. Amazing 👏, I look forward to the subsequent games
I was at the Orange Crush watch party. The two goals within the first minute was devastating. When the flames were leading 5-1, people I was with wanted to leave. Told them I was gonna stay and that it's not over 'til it's over. The energy in the arena once the Oilers started to fight back, absolutely unforgettable. What a way to kick off the Battle of Alberta! 🇨🇦

It was 80's night at the old Saddledome tonight. I was half expecting to see Theo Fleury flying down the wing or an Al McInnis slap shot goal from the point on the power play.

What a beauty Lucic is
I did not see what happen end of the game? As a Kings fan and watching Sutter for years Lucic is more valuable then you would think. Sutter must have asked at start of the season to help with checking and toughness he sacrificed his scoring to help Trevor Lewis on 4th line. Trevor knows what Sutter wants from him as he was on 4th line with Nolan and King on 4 th line. if players buy in to their roles good things happen .
Bet so many are "shocked" by the score. But this is what hockey and especially the Smythe division was. Fun, exciting hockey.

I have waited a long time for this battle of Alberta, what a game!!!!
There were no losers in that game.
Well fought battle
The Oilers definitely were the losers in this. This is playoffs, not the participation trophy Olympics!
Goalies were losers
@@davidj5425 ah right because flames letting in 6 goals is a win.

@@davidj5425 hahaha dont be a smartass i didnt mean literally a win i ment letting in 6 goals is never a good thing even if you win the game. and dont get me wrong oilers were even worse.
Oilers were absolutely brutal. I get that both sides were bad, but Mike Smith just had to lose the game in 50 seconds. no way the defense was gonna get anything back after that, not even McDavid could pull them outta this one, and Leon was horrible, gave away the puck like it was charity. turnover after turnover, just..brutal.
Yeah, Oilers didn't deserve to win.
As long as they learn from their mistakes right
You can tell Leon is injured, he was barely moving out there and misplayed the puck on a few occasions.
looked like 97 almost pulled them out in period 2, but they were sloppy lol
Mike smith is way too hot and cold, it was the prime example this game where he lets in a goal or two early on then he starts letting in soft goals, and he’s downhill from there, he gets rattled way too easily, and way too hot headed and it throws his game off
The oilers are garbage, the fact they struggled so hard with the kings just shows how bad they've already lossed this one
Вратари просто присутствовали в воротах🤣🤣
Best part of this highlight reel is that you know every clip that made it featured a goal.
wow, I had no idea the result/score coming into this highlight vid. Goals galore! Holy fu...
That was a very pent-up and talented offence unloading on two opposing goalies and forgetting about defense almost entirely.

As if the Battle of Alberta wasn't enough of a 1980s nostalgia trip, the teams agreed to bring back 1980s-style scoring too.
Yeah it seemed so.
Complete with terrible goaltending! My 16 year old son can't believe how goalies played when I show him old video of 80s
Easy to see both goalies weaknesses in this game. This series has the potential to go in the record books for most goals in a series. May the best team win.
This game was just nutso, but I just wanted to say that Coleman has been really great, especially in the playoffs. The Backlund/Mang/Coleman line works really well

Both goalies were perfect 10/10. Vasilevskiy would be proud lol.
Gaudreau clowned Vasy in the regular season
I think it was an exciting game to watch, there is a difference between watching it live and watching a recording after knowing the end score.. just strips the game off of the usual emotions.. wish I were up then,...
but why do you look up the score? when i wake up in the morning i watch the highlight videos before watching the score.
WHATB A GAME CAN'T WAIT FOR GAME #2 !
Watching this again, knowing what the Oilers do later, is just so satisfying. What a comeback and mental fortitude these Oilers had. Connor McDavid's greatest series yet.
What an insane game this series is going to be insane
I’m a Ducks fan but I love great hockey like this. I was with my sister, we went to some play tuned in and out after we got back it was still on and the oilers looked like they were coming back and we sat there dumbfounded on how it got to be that high of a score either the D didn’t show or the offenses come well prepared but damn hell of a series best one I’ve seen probably ever.
Either this shows how solid Otter was for dallas or how bad these teams came prepared to defend.
The 1st one.
I'd say a bit of both
Three things are true: Otter was amazing, the offence in this game was strong, the defense and goaltending left much to be desired. Also, my experience from these rivalry games is that the emotion and pace of it all can lead to defense being ignored.
Def the first, otter was seeing 50-60 shots a night
bit of both for sure, we put a lot of shots on the net every game in the playoffs so far, it's just a matter if we finish our chances and we also gotta be better defensively
This series is gonna be good!!!
Ads during the highlights? You can do better Sportsnet!
А вот это интересно, проигрывать 4 шайбы и отыграться, Ойлерз не так плохи, как многие говорили, если бы ещё не детские ошибки второго дорогого игрока и неоставление калгаринца одного на убойной позиции, глядишь и выиграли бы...

@@canadianbacon6452 the translation is wrong, "игра на встречных курсах" basically means that both teams decided to play heavily attacking style without thinking about defense. "Встречные курсы" is usually used to describe two ships going head on
