Mrs Brady didn’t read the Bible then. If she did she would know Christ is not in him. He does nothing follow the Bible. He does the opposite so it’s demonic.
I love that Manson keeps his cool, while Lakita loses hers. He is actually taking time to listen (not just hear) what she is saying, She doesn't seem to know how to complete the communication loop.
i love how mrs. brady keeps quiet through out the whole conversation and then once everyone has stopped yapping she pops in and says something that devalidates everything lakita had to say xD.
"I'm open minded, I don't protest sunday schools or anything..." I fucking LOVE Marilyn Manson :D But I also think that this interview wouldn't have gone anywhere without the annoying Lakita chick, because every good argument needs a counter-argument.... And besides, Marilyn totally won the arguments :]
Marilyn is just a cool kinda guy. He's calm and very very intelligent. People just don't EVER decide to listen to him, or his side of the story. There is a rare few that actually listen to the guy!
Movies don't make you do things, but what influences you has a big impact on what you do and how you act, and movies and music can influence you. Besides their are such things as unseen forces of both good and bad.
I love that Ms. Henderson is so neutral and friendly to Manson. She's so sweet and cool. Also Manson is my hero and I love him. Thank you for standing up for free thinking.
oh and then again at the end, it cuts Bill off, he was saying "do you remember what you felt like?" G. Gordon Liddy answers, "yeah, I wanna bug my parents." Bill "no." Manson "isolation..."
Use to have this recorded on vhs, so I'm very familiar with the content. Just for those of you who hadn't seen it, when it comes back from commercial break, at around 2:47, there's a small part missing, Manson said, "going back to being like christ, someone might say I'm a lot like Christ. He had long hair..."
@Jofrisper I'm well aware. That was a reply to someone else who claimed Communism was a religion. The way some people treated the political movement like so many fanatics treat religion. That's all I was talking about.
I know a lot of people didn't like that Lakita dominated the conversation. Doesn't mean they should attack her personally though. Don't forget that Bill Maher usually sets up the shows so that it's four liberal/left-wingers (including himself) versus one conservative. The conservative has to be more aggressive or she will get stomped on, interrupted and talked over. It's a strategy needed for that show.
I admire Mason so much for so many reasons. The way he dresses may not be of much appeal, but he speaks like a man who has the knowledge and wisdom of a person who has lived 300 years. He still has the humor and all like a normal human being. He makes me proud to be a human being living and agreeing to what he says.
I'm reminded of something Bertrand Russell once said: "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."
Major props to Manson (and the host for that matter) for keeping their patience with a certain overzealous guest on this thoroughly amusing, if not frustrating, episode of one of the 90's better talk shows. :)
I wish we could have heard more of Bill's ending discussion and Lakita's reply. Ever since we first stumbled upon what sex was whether it was via cable or magazines at a young age, we all couldn't wait to turn 18 to experiment. However, sunday school came along and some (if not all) of our hearts sunk when teachers told us we had to wait until marriage. And when they went on to say "no oral," I've never heard a louder reaction from a post-pubescent class since. hilarious memories.
Quick: try the following experiment. Scroll down into the comments section so that you cannot see the video. Doesn't whats-her-face sound like Christine O'Donnell? Not just in what shes saying, but as far as the speech pattern when she gets indignant and starts raising her voice, and the sound of her voice. Its uncanny.
what you read and what you listen to, and what you watch will influence your mood and your actions more than you think! If a movie can make you cry, or make you laugh or make you frustrated than whats can a book do to you, especially one inspired from the devil himself.
I went to school to study broadcasting, and one of the first things we were taught about American television is that it exists for the advertisers, not the viewers. I think they have it completely backwards, but that is seriously the mentality....it has to please the advertisers, not the viewers. The only time the networks care about the viewers is if enough of them complain to the advertisers to make them pull their support of a program.
Has anyone ever noticed that the side that has no evidence or the side thats losing the common ground is always the side that talks the loudest and trys to prevent others from talking?
Something about marylin manson is very charismatic. He's well spoken and calm. I hate his music (not because of the subject matter) but I always do enjoy watching him debate.
@musicstorage316 Well, technically that would mean that the guy with the moustache seemed to be brighter than Manson, which is not the case. You have got to know when to listen, yes, but also when to speak.
Too bad it cut off. Bill was about to make a great point. Peope like Manson and all the other rockers that came before him that were supposedly "evil", they weren't preaching hatred above all their message to people was dont be ashamed of who you are. Manson, and so many others, did GREAT things for kids because they helped valid their feelings. It helped so many alienated teenagers feel no so alone in the world.
@KodyIsNotAPerson ...it didn't seem like a popularity contest here, though, but an attempt at an exchange of ideas. Regardless of the number of friends you have (now or back then), you still might have a valid point about something or make no sense at all either way...
@Creepindeath445 That's true, but somehow it is easier to meet someone who believes AND tries to convince you that you are "wrong" somehow, than someone who doesn't and does the same thing. I'm not talking about people who doesn't believe and are trying to convince everyone else not to, cause they are the same kind, the believers part is. This is what religion is - barrier between other points of view. And to be precise - religion is not the same thing as "way on life", or something like that.
I,m a christian goth and there,s history in goths, we interpreted the bible.I would listen to marilyn manson than a dogmatic preacher anytime. he ,s got it.
I think that Manson's basic intention is to get people to be more open-minded instead of being glued to the idea that only what we are taught by authorities is truthful. He pushes things to the extreme in his songs, his videos, and his appearance because he is giving people the concept that it's okay to think outside the box, it's okay to have your own ideas and beliefs!
Marilyn Manson is an amazing example of the phrase "More than meets the eye". Some of his material scares the shit out of me, but I really like and respect the guy.
even though she kept interrupting,, she stood up for Christ maybe not in the best way but she did. And because she stood up for Christ, people hated her stance. It's okay girl!! Love ya
And now what has that got to do with his music? Are you criticising the way he looks or his music? Make up your mind; either way they have nothing to do with anything.
This is how people who "believe" work. They will try to convince you, that you are wrong, and they are good. Notice, that he hadn't said a single bad word about her, when he tried to attack him like every 10 seconds. Thats how religion works, and thats how society works. Long live people with free mind.
@perqqq Yeah, so true, so true! I use to be a big time Christian, but left because they kept cutting people down to make themselves look good! They are constantly trying to say you are wrong, because, that makes them feel right! Since you are not them, in their mind, they think you/others are wrong! It's a horrible way to go through life!
"How can you judge him? He may have more Christ in him than you!" Wise words from Mrs. Brady!
Mrs Brady didn’t read the Bible then. If she did she would know Christ is not in him. He does nothing follow the Bible. He does the opposite so it’s demonic.
Florence is treating Marilyn like he's her grandson. It's beautiful.
She got owned by Marilyn, he was so calm and quiet, but she was owned.
I love how everytime she call's him Marilyn bill yell's MANSON!
"Teenage children are going to have sex no matter what. That's not necessarily true at all."
"Oh, Gordon."
I love Marilyn Manson. He keeps his cool no matter what is said to him, I have so much respect for him.
I love that Manson keeps his cool, while Lakita loses hers. He is actually taking time to listen (not just hear) what she is saying, She doesn't seem to know how to complete the communication loop.
"I'm open minded. I don't protest Sunday schools or anything like that." Such wit, Mr. Manson.
"You certaintly know how to speak Lakita"-haha I don't think she realizes Florence was mocking her.
i love how mrs. brady keeps quiet through out the whole conversation and then once everyone has stopped yapping she pops in and says something that devalidates everything lakita had to say xD.
i love how manson remains so calm and articulate while in contrast she doesnt...
type A
vs
type B
This is my first time ever hearing of or seeing Lakita Garth and I've had more than enough.
What I hear, when Lakita Garth is talking = dabadabadu, badamm badamm, lalala.....
His smile and his laugh makes me so happy and it just makes my day
"if i dont get laid, then can i sue her?" LOL
Man I miss the 90's. I can't think of anyone in music today who could be as deep or provocative as Manson on a show like this.
"I'm open minded, I don't protest sunday schools or anything..." I fucking LOVE Marilyn Manson :D
But I also think that this interview wouldn't have gone anywhere without the annoying Lakita chick, because every good argument needs a counter-argument.... And besides, Marilyn totally won the arguments :]
"definitely not elvis...you dont swing your hips like he did"
"you havent seen me"
LMAO
"I'm open minded, I don't protest Sunday school or anything."
manson is so well spoken and charming, it's amazing.
2:26 "He may have more christ in him then you do". Laughing my ass off!!
Marilyn is just a cool kinda guy. He's calm and very very intelligent. People just don't EVER decide to listen to him, or his side of the story. There is a rare few that actually listen to the guy!
"There's one commandment in the Book of Satan, what is that commandment?" "Kill Lakita Garth" lol
Спасибо за интервью.
Awesome show. Thank you for posting this.
I like how every debate that marylin Manson is in, he is always the center of everyone's attention XD
I love the connection between Mrs. Brady and Marilyn Manson!
1996 is one of my favorite songs of all time.
How cool....Marilyn Manson & Mrs. Brady have so much in common! Awesome, I love that side of the panel lol !
Oh and Mrs. Brady and Marilyn are a good combo surprisingly. It's awesome.
Yep.
"He may have more Christ in him than you do." That was the best quote I've heard.
I love that woman! :D
Movies don't make you do things, but what influences you has a big impact on what you do and how you act, and movies and music can influence you. Besides their are such things as unseen forces of both good and bad.
too bad you can't hear some of the lines in the conversation, but thanks for putting this up anyway. its a fun and interesting show.
I loved Bill's zinger at the end "to kill Lakita Garth" XD
I love that Ms. Henderson is so neutral and friendly to Manson. She's so sweet and cool.
Also Manson is my hero and I love him. Thank you for standing up for free thinking.
oh and then again at the end, it cuts Bill off, he was saying "do you remember what you felt like?" G. Gordon Liddy answers, "yeah, I wanna bug my parents." Bill "no." Manson "isolation..."
Manson is awesome and handles debates and interviews calmly and maturly
When Mrs Brady said "He may have more Christ in him then you do" I clapped so loud I scared the crap out of my little brother.
"What is that commandment in the book of satan?" - Lakita to MM
"Kill Lakita Garth!" - Bill
hahahaha

WoW , I cannot believe manson didn't take his chair and smash it on Lakita's head.
He's got way more patience than I give him credit for.
I love that mrs. Brady is defending Manson.
I'm reminded of something Bertrand Russell once said: "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."
Oh, Mrs. Brady, how I much more respect I have for you now.
Major props to Manson (and the host for that matter) for keeping their patience with a certain overzealous guest on this thoroughly amusing, if not frustrating, episode of one of the 90's better talk shows. :)

AND MARILYN MANSON IS AMAZING
"I like the Bible as a book, like the Cat in the Hat..."
I think it's really cute she said he's welcome to hang out with her hahaha, he was like hmmmhmhm.... she looks alright

"There is one commandment in the book of Satan, what is that commandment?" "Kill Lakita Garth."
marilyn manson and mrs brady = aewsome epicness
How cool, Manson on the same panel as Florence Henderson. That is what made this show fun.
@calicocidd Spot on! she's just a judgemental christian fundamentalist.
I love how they cut to an ad break as the religious woman goes on another rant. 02:36
i like both of the top comments...the top commentator describes what is happening i context...the one below him cuts straight to the point
Lakita something or other (never heard of her music) was the most judgmental person on that panel. What a good Christian.
lmao "Kill Lakita Garth" Bill is hilarious
Has anyone ever noticed that the side that has no evidence or the side thats losing the common ground is always the side that talks the loudest and trys to prevent others from talking?
Garth is a nut. Mrs. Brady, you're my hero.
Something about marylin manson is very charismatic. He's well spoken and calm. I hate his music (not because of the subject matter) but I always do enjoy watching him debate.
@Sketch95 the genre, not necessarily her music. It's not important what the genre does.
@musicstorage316
Well, technically that would mean that the guy with the moustache seemed to be brighter than Manson, which is not the case. You have got to know when to listen, yes, but also when to speak.
Because she is happy married, a new mom, wrote a book and tours the country speaking to our youth. Busy taking care of business.
Mrs. Brady + Manson=awesomeness!!
Too bad it cut off. Bill was about to make a great point. @MetalMakesMeEargasm I would LOVE to know your basis for comparison for how you discern evil from good lol genius' at work in this thread...sigh
@calicocidd Yes, who IS Lakita anyway.
Where is she now?
and
Where is Manson now?
MM!!
but the lady next to him is so friendly and open about him. respect achieved!
@Creepindeath445 That's true, but somehow it is easier to meet someone who believes AND tries to convince you that you are "wrong" somehow, than someone who doesn't and does the same thing. I feel like I'm watching the view. Calm down lady
I think that Manson's basic intention is to get people to be more open-minded instead of being glued to the idea that only what we are taught by authorities is truthful. @grauekatze he was saying that ALL teens going out and screwing around isnt necessarily true.
Was this the Politcally Incorrect or the Laquisha Garth show?
Marilyn Manson is an amazing example of the phrase "More than meets the eye". Some of his material scares the shit out of me, but I really like and respect the guy.
oh my good Marilyn Manson has the BEST one liners haha
@eggjakaka it`s not just that but she is the only one who is talking over people so every time it gets to a break she is also TALKING
"I don't protest Sunday schools or anything" lol Manson is awesome.
ITS SHOW BIZ. it's a business. You need an act. Marilyn an act. He's actually a really down. To earth guy
even though she kept interrupting,, she stood up for Christ maybe not in the best way but she did. And because she stood up for Christ, people hated her stance. It's okay girl!! Love ya
does laketa's album exist?
haha i love the fact they role the credits while shes still talking
lols at "i just wanted to ask you Marilyn,"
"MANSON!"
And now what has that got to do with his music? Are you criticising the way he looks or his music? Make up your mind; either way they have nothing to do with anything.
@regiraver win? explain.. and why does it have to be about winning?
This is how people who "believe" work. They will try to convince you, that you are wrong, and they are good. @armordooz Hell yeah, great way to put that!
You're saying that Bill Maher chose sides? If anything he's with Marilyn
@Bashfulbonzo You know what they say, the people who speaks the fastest, are the ones who are afraid of not being listen
this program is way too short. they should have made it 2 hours :-p
