A moment of silence, please, as we remember the audience-free era.
Truly a golden age. It shall be missed.
I personally dread its return. We're really gonna miss the crew's laughter. 😭
Same.
Maybe he’ll do like one or two episodes a week without an audience
we're tipping toward an audience-free Earth
@@JadenKaye i live on Norfolk island where the grave of The Thorn Birds author Colleen McCullough is - she lived and died here and she is rolling in the grave begging that the Sea Captain and all the attic friends poll for #noaudienceseth
I love the no audience and crew laughter but man I love it even more when Seth goes off script!
It just doesn't get any better than what we've had these past months!
There's a certain intimacy about it.
And it’s all going away because they feel like they have to have an audience.
In reality, this could be an absolute breakthrough in late night with the next generation of hosts offering a more intimate setting for the viewers.
@@tater6124 yessir I love the perspective man! I enjoy the talks with Wally & the behind the scenes action
Me too!
I'm going to miss this, not having an audience was so much more fun, but I understand he probably misses them too.
This was an amazing era of late night.
I agree. I actually enjoyed them all doing the make shift filming from their homes (or, er, attic).
Me too!
Your show for the last nearly 16 months has held my brain together and even brought my family closer. If you ever doubted your at home content, the Sea Captain and your little bees and everything else you did brought so much joy in an anxious and difficult time.Thank you to your writers, camera people, editors, lighting folk, caterers, and everyone else who has made this production function all this hectic time. You are doing the good.
Doesn’t your country have some law to prevent people from running for president while under criminal investigation? Seems like it should…
Lol you would think 😂 but we Americans like to hold ourselves to high standards.
@@sinahaase9923 I just love your channel name.what made you pick it??
Nope. But the irony is, the guy in question said that there should be such a law when he was running against Hillary Clinton. I'd imagine he would have a far different opinion about that same hypothetical law if he were to run again.
Nope..sad isn't it?
@@sinahaase9923 you wouldn't know high standards if it bit you. Unfortunately since we've had bojo neither would the UK
If anything deserves an Emmy it’s “A Closer Look”. I went back and watched some “early trump years” and it’s always brilliant, has kept me sane and I love it! Thank you!
Totally agree. Seth was one of the first people in the media to start calling Donald's bs "LIES", instead of "falsehoods", "mistruths", and "alternative facts" too.
Seth is too progressive for the Emmys :( I feel like they’ll only appreciate him when it’s too late
I've watched them over and over. They are hilarious!
I agree, and I wonder if corrections are going to be in front of audience? It won't be the same...
@@sergeanthulka7528 yep truth does matter. Your name however is a lie.
Dear Seth Meyers,
Thank you for bringing so much joy into my home during such a horrible tragedy. Thank you you for still working from home and introducing us to the gulls nest. And for reporting news far more accurately than Trump ever wanted. Your professionalism in reporting news is far superior to the last 4 years of just about all the major news outlets. Thanks for all the laughs and for the laughs yet to come.
Sincerely,
BB
Love this show so much! You do an incredible job without an audience Seth! Been watching you this whole time and the shows of you in your attic were golden!!! You are the best!
This has been a great ride. Nobody excelled with the no audience late night like Seth, he even improved a lot of aspects of his show. I know he will be the best of late night now and I hope he will find a way to incorporate some of the closer look gems that he has mastered into his show! Thanks for brightening our world when it has been at it darkest. Really as todays news shows unless people take action against the biggest threat our democracy has ever faced, we are in big trouble.
I'm so bummed this is the last audience free Closer Look. It was an amazing run producing some of the best content I've ever seen. Thank you Seth and crew! Looking forward to Corrrrrrections tomorrow!
What about Weekend Editions like this?
i figured the no-audience era would end eventually, i'll just add my support and voice saying dammit if these weren't some of the finest episodes of late night television in a long while.
My compliments to the crew, staff, and writers. These audience-free episodes have been marvelous. Humor, professionalism, and love. Seth was good, too.
Farewell to our intimate, one on one relationship Seth. Gonna miss that personal touch. Cheers!
We won't hear "stay safe, wear a mask, we love you" any more....
good point.
i feel that too these last months with Colbert, and Kimmel too.
"intimate" lol ah yes....from thousands of miles away...
@@LindaC616 doesn't your family say they love you? why do you need a stranger to say it?
this was the perfect parasocial relationship :(
Last closer look without an audience. It's been an honor to all you guys. Seth your show kept me sane during the worst of the pandemic here in South America, last year. Gracias, amigo!
I really wish he kept to being alone. I like the two or so laughs way in the back. It’s real.
There’s no crowd that has “forced laughter”.
It’s easier to tune into as well.
Is an audience really necessary, Seth? We so love you when we have you and Wally all to ourselves and don't have to share you with "strangers"!!!!!
Honestly, and I try to say this with respect: If Woodward knew all this for this long and waited to publish these books, how does he call himself a journalist anymore?
You're supposed to break the news, not wait for a publishing deal.
This was special. Seth's was the only show to not only professionally survive the pandemic, but actually thrive. I guess we have to share Seth with a live audience again, but as a viewer, I am saddened that these intimate shows are over, but very glad to have spent my time with them. It takes true talent to take circumstances such as these and turn it to a net positive. We'll always remember the Sea Captain, the wasps, and the book titles...
I'm not sure it was the "only" show to thrive. I watch Colbert, also, and he did a fantastic job without the intrusive screamers. I was disappointed when he went back to having a live audience.
John Oliver
@@pywacket80 I disagree. I thought he was mediocre without the audience and now that it's back he is way better. Just my 2 cents.
Trevor Noah was the only one who saw views increase without an audience.
Colbert is a great example of what happens when you go from the closed set to a live audience. Unfunny and annoying, with the whooping and Colbert trying too hard. This works and works well. It ain’t broke…
Why aren’t these people in jail!!!
It's a prelude to war. Every time leaders break the magna Carta, there is a war. Also, every country that succumbed to a disinformation campaign has gone to war of dissolved.
How come a vast majority of the the Antifa and BLM protesters released compared to the Trump supporters who walked through the capital on a self-guided tour.
“Behind the curtain” is exactly what I will miss when the audience returns. 😞😔😖
Thank you Seth and team for helping me get through the last 18 months of upheaval. Such a phenomenonal show. ❤
Seth You've done an outstanding job over the last 18 months. Thanks for keeping me sane even while you were working in isolation. Although I don't begrudge you an audience, I'm still going to miss the crew laughing at your jokes. Thanks everyone. You're amazing xx
That was incredibly kind and mature Woody and I wish I could say I wasn't over here begrudging left and right. Because I am - big time.
I'm begrudging.
Begrudging too. Screw him and his audience. Sulk.
So much this

It's over folks, back to audiences laughing over punchlines & awkwardly reacting to Seth & his guests.
Thanks for the incredible shows with you & the writers Seth.
The intimacy came through the camera & made lots of us feel less alone.
Just know if you ever decide to leave the network & do a UA-cam series from your in-laws' attic, you have tons of us who'll watch.
He will of course be required to bring Wally with him into the attic.
>UA-cam series from your in-laws' attic
Wouldn't it be cool to have that power, Seth?
I’d give to his Patreon whatever it is cable cost.
I’m waiting for the Sea Captain spin-off, I hope he brings Seth’s hornets with him (and by hornets, I do mean his boys in bee costumes). Seth should absolutely get on this.
Fully agreed, so sad to see crowds come back.
I'm really going to miss the way the show is now, once the audience is back is just feels fake, like it's a typical impersonal show again. Very glad to hear that Corrections will still be a thing though! And since I'm here, those were CLEARLY rollerblades Mr. Meyers.
Last day without an audience. I'm gonna miss this format. When I hit the like button I intended it as a hug and a thanks to Seth and the crew for doing their thing like only they can. Truly, thanks.
Awwww, I don't want the audience back because you can pull it off without having one. Love how you couldn't resist laughing 😂 at the closing comment..."..one day in January."
John Oliver's been doing last week Tonight show without an audience for years
Seth couldn’t resist laughing….but everyone else in the studio must have joined The Resistance.
They can’t seriously go back to an audience, they have such a great thing going. I hate hearing about how this is ending!
Last day without an audience.
I can't remember if I cried, when I heard the audience back inside...
Just echoing everyone else here. I will endlessly miss the no-audience format and crew interactions and laughter. It was late night talk show gold, honestly.
CORRECTION: Please don't bring the audience back; the show is so much better this way.
THIS!!! I’m glad I’m not alone I love him like thsi
I agree.
True, I stopped watching colbert, after he went back to having an audience.
Idk, audience feedback might stop him from doing Vince Vaughn impressions and stick with Shoemaker impressions....which are spot on..
Listen to this Seth. If you know whats good for you.
I hope that the corrections bit sticks around after the audience returns... but without the audience.
Absolutely. That’s just for us jackals.
Yes, by its nature, it must. It's an online feature.
Yes and they take it so seriously I love it
He said, in a recent interview with Mike Shoemaker, that it will remain the same.
So the graphics team screwed your pooch again Seth and gave you rollerblades when you asked for rollerskates.
I’m with most of these comments in saying that I’ll miss this non-audience shows. Have to say that Seth, mate, you produced the most raw and relatable “late night” coverage / show during 2020-21. Going from praising UA-camrs from doing their own production and make-up, different stages of madness (quick shout out to the sea captain, hope he’s arrrrrghright), to calling out your writers and genuinely appreciating seeing your crew again. I’m going to miss your no audience shows, hearing Amber and Wally laugh in the background, the disdain for some of the jokes that fell flat and Corrections. Hope you and all those close to you are safe and well👍
I miss almost nothing about the Trump era, but I do miss Seth's impression of Lindsay Graham yelling at MeMaw. 😂
I’m really gonna miss the No audience format, the interaction with the crew really makes this and every segment truly special.
The only time it seems strange without an audience is with the guests. I sort of wish they would just let them in for that part!
@@gllyflower i second that!
The lack of fake enthusiasm and overly long applause moments is always a plus.
Seth really nails the no audience thing unfortunately
It’s been an absolute joy without the audience. I can’t describe how upset I am it’s over.

The audience ruins the show
Yeah I’m done with people too - I love the show without the audience Seth
Right?! Hard to put into words.
Colbert was better in that tiny room, now I skip the audience applause and pandering.
Seth's Graham impersonation is so funny
the end of an era, hard to get this kinda of closeness, when everything's shared with the world. thanks for keeping me company Seth. I had lost everything by last Christmas, but I've almost built everything back up. I really appreciate you all giving me something to smile/laugh at. God bless.
Not gonna lie... Gonna really miss these days with no audience.
Same with some other late night comedians I watch. When they went back to live audiences, the jokes and writing seems to have suffered!
Me too!! 😭😭😭 I’ve almost completely stopped watching Colbert again. It’s not the same ((and when I said that in my head it was in Vanilla Ice ‘it’s not the same’ because of Seth’s closer look)).
That's when I check out and close the book on this show.
It was nice while it lasted. But all things do come to an end.
1) killer avatar. The Beets might be my favorite fictional rock band.
2) Yeah, Seth's timing is more natural this way (but that doesn't necessarily make him 'funnier'), I just hope the audience reintegration doesn't interfere, like with some other late night shows that specifically cater to the audience for participation, it's obvious pandering and I cringe everytime I see it (lookin at you, Colbert)

@darknightoftroy Trumpism isn't the only moving force in the GOP right now and still some aspects of conservatism are still at play. The Jackals
It's weird how Lindsey and Haley and McConnell and others may reach a breaking point in their support of Trump, but then later are right back on the bandwagon. It's almost like they get a late-night phone call reminding them of certain information about them they wouldn't want to see made public...
Compromat
I think Lindsey had a sudden attack of conscience. He actually suggested to his own supporters to get vaccinated. He claimed he did and that they should consider it. Nobody forced him to do so and I don't see him gaining anything from it. Of course he's old, his health is bad and he claims to believe in God. Maybe he's trying to salvage some sort of soul for the afterlife. Maybe he knows something he's not sharing with the public.
@@AtariBorn yah it almost feels like he’s embarrassed that his base is now the party of conspiracy and hate the left and not much to gloat about being the party of free thinkers when you get BOOD for telling them to think owell

The talk show with a studio audience has been a TV staple since the 1950s. Over the last 18 months this show has proven that the format can be carried off very well without 150 'strangers'.
Surely in an overcrowded media landscape a talk show that does not have an audience is something that would set this show apart from the rest

What's funniest about Wally is that he may be an unknown to us, but that man is a legend in late night & sketch comedy. I think he may still work at SNL? I know he's doing Amber's show too. He's been around for a long time, but I didn't really know who he was until the pandemic!
Wally for president 2024
Audience members are super annoying. They make everything sound inauthentic.
I live on Norfolk island where the grave of The Thorn Birds author Colleen McCullough is - she lived and died here and she is rolling in the grave begging that the Sea Captain and all the attic friends poll for #noaudienceseth
@@andrewbyronloveshire5209 that's incredibly cool in a super niche way 😁
She undoubtedly is & as much as we love him - I'm sure she was the Sea Captain's number one fan.
Not sure too many people outside of Seth's audience would find this tidbit of trivia as fascinating as we do, but thanks for sharing!
Thanks Seth, your closer look segments have been a constant in my weeknight bedtime routines through covid. I'm not much one for late night shows, but I really enjoyed it! Gratitude my dude!
The end of an era. I love you COVID time late night with seth Meyers. Your whole crew, team, you, just pure love. That live audience doesn’t deserve you and the sea captain.
Well, it's been fun, Seth. Thank you for getting us through lockdown and all that followed. We're all going to miss this as you can see from the comments. PLEASE do one show a week for us??
We really hate to go cold turkey. We love you!! And JACKALS RULE!!
Damning new details more damning than the last damning new details? Damn
Exactly. All of it, Seth. Thanks for echoing my thoughts here in Canada, & thankful for this saving grace. Be Kind, Love & Safe.
Seth and crew, Thank you for keeping us sane. And for some great journalism. ♥️♥️♥️
I live for every MeMa reference.
Me too!!
Yes, his Aunt Pitty Pat impressions are priceless.
@@JadenKaye Ohhhh. Too funny! 😂
Yes!!! It’s my favorite lol
this show needs more awards
Trump is like a kid went doesn't want something until someone else has it.
Well Don dont you think there are no afghan crisis, no border crisis, no gas increase no additional covid deaths if Trump is d winner?
@@jawotolen8929 you're kidding.
@@christabailey1705 Im serious and we saw it on the other side of the isle. Your mainstream media fooled you.
Man am I going to miss the audience-free shows. There was a casualness, familiarity, and joke amongst friends vibe that has sustained me through a dark period. So grateful to the entire crew and amazing team that produces this show 💝
So many confessions, continued blatant threats, so many recordings and interviews...and yet, NOTHING happens to hold the SOB accountable
I will miss Seth not having an audience. He and his amazing team killed it. Please keep it up and don’t pander … maybe if I don’t laugh, not getting the joke is a little on me … unless it’s a Scollins joke, I’m not taking the blame for those.
He just needs to have “no audience episodes” once or twice a week.
Then ease into never having an audience.
"Ice Lemonade and Richard Seltzer" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"One Day In January" is the best title for the january 6th riot documentary
I can already feel myself aging twenty years at the mere thought having to live through a second Trump presidency.
I should probably start looking for countries that will offer asylum, just in case.
The world won’t survive that
Rest assured. That'll never happen.
I ask the universe to relieve him from his suffering while he is sleeping. : / he had a lot of mysterious health interventions during his, I’m gonna say, presidency.
@@Edu_Kate We thought that the first time. We shouldn't get complacent, is all I'm saying,
You really need to get on the graphics inspection. They are asking for it
They'd like it too much
And this has been a pleasure thank you very much it's been a great ride
Roller skates and roller blades are different, but you know this.
I'm not taking that carrot.. no, sir!
