      I adore Soie Malaquais, it is one of my favourites in my collection. I just think price is so subjective for everyone and also expensive is different for everyone. I would repurchase it again and again, I just wish it was under £200.

    Thank you for this. The fact that you tell us what you've bought, what you've paid for yourself, and if it's worth it means a lot to me personally.
    So many influencers are sent bottles by the brands, and how can they give an honest review after that? It's not possible. My friend was sent some fragrances by a particular brand, and she had to sign an NDA and there were all sorts of quid pro quos. Having seen it happen irl now, I am so much more wary when I watch perfume videos.
    Love to see your lux collection, you have great taste!

    Hi Hayley! I enjoyed this video and your honesty. My most expensive fragrance is Amouage Guidance, I paid about £230 so a significant reduction on the RRP of £320, and for me it's worth it (although if I couldn't get a discount, I'm not sure I would have paid the full retail price). I picked Soie Malaquais up from a reseller so also got a decent deal that I'm happy with. My love for both scents is even stronger now that I've worn them loads than when I first got them too. I feel like it'll be hard for me to spend over around £250 on a perfume, but we'll see haha! Blanche Bete was probably my second most expensive.

    • @hayley.clough
      @hayley.clough  10 місяців тому +3

      Yeah I feel we all have an individual wall that we limit ourselves too. I really want Feve Gourmand but struggling to drop £290 on it. I think even getting 10% off helps me justify a more expensive perfume. Guidance is worth it for me purely due to the strength and unique DNA, it’s not love for me but I can’t deny it’s incredible

    I always appreciate your honesty Hayley! I purchased Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille, Tonka Imperiale, Cherry Oud and Fève Gourmand….do I think it’s worth the price tag, No I don’t 🥰. They were all painful for me too, but I love them with the exception of Cherry Oud (I didn’t have any way to test any of them so they were all expensive blind buys, with Cherry Oud being an expensive mistake). My most expensive perfume would be Louis Vuitton Symphony ($550) because I can’t find them elsewhere and discounted. I do LOVE it and need to wear it more!

    Yes 👏🏻 please part 2, I really enjoyed the video a lot, in my opinion nothing worth the price tag 😅I never pay the price tag for any luxury perfume, clothes, bags and hair tools, I always always wait and do my best to get the perfect deal, my most expensive perfume in my collection right now is Guidence I got it for 300$ instead of 390$ after tax in USA, usually my perfume between 150$ and under 200$, yes it’s soooo much money but the quality of this one is insane, now I am dying to get YSL babycat but I am not sure if I am willing to spend 370$ on it 😢😢I am sooooo agree about quality of La capitale and starlight absolutely both are gorgeous scents, but still can’t see myself pay almost 300$ for 50 ml perfume, I am sooooo glad that I got starlight in the Black Friday for 120$ 😮💃🏻, and first bottle of La capitale was for 170$ and I ordered the second one for 98$, I do agree also about the casmorati line I got Italica for 140$ and I see that it’s the fair and best price for it, I can’t see myself pay even 100$ for Dama Bianca due to the poor longevity, even PDM Delina line I refused to pay even 170$ for Delina exclusive and got Armaf imperial instead and I am soooo satisfied and happy with it, no uniqueness no complexity too much feminine for me so not worth the splurge at all🤷🏻‍♀️

    I agree that you should always search for online discounts before buying full retail. Personally I love Tiziana Terenzi as it’s my favourite fragrance house but I wouldn’t pay full retail although I love Tabit I can’t pay £410. It’s unique, feminine and so special to me, often you can find online deals it’s sold for half of that price. Same goes for Greenwich Village too - love both fragrances but wouldn’t pay full retail.

    Interesting concept. I think niche is like art, you know what you like and when you “get it” then it’s worth it for you to experience that fragrance. It really is an experience. I believe scents can change your mood and heal you. I can barely stand designer any more, I know terrible, but I find myself layering designer to doctor them up, so, may as well just buy niche. I have a few on here. I don’t like to even imagine the total cost of my collection, staggering. ❤

    I agree so much with Lune Feline and La capitale, own both and would purchase them again, and same for Starlight!❤✨️✨️ I am very curious to try Angelique noire, and I want to start discovering Roja, starting from something less expensive though 😅 If I have to think of an overpriced fragrance that I have, I would say Hundred silent ways from Nishane, it is beautiful but too simple for the retail price tag. This kind of video is very helpful! ❤ I am often thinking of discovering high end houses but some are hard to find in stores (at least in Italy), and some sample sets are highly priced too, so it's very helpful to have a guide ❤

    Great video of discussion!
    For me, Original delina has lots of dupe. Exclusif has just few yet the level of depth is insane because use well-blended oud and incense is artfully done to enhance fruit (though i totally hate oud in general).
    These fruits tend to smell cheap if its too fruity.

  • @penelopepalm
    @penelopepalm 10 місяців тому

    I can only speak on xerjoff and I completely agree with you. I would add ivory route into worth it. But although I love all my xerjoffs the others are not worth retail.
    Once we get to the $300 mark, I don’t think any perfume is worth it. Not to say that there aren’t super interesting scents in that space. I just think there are moods, feelings, events, and occasions that call for different profiles. In every scenario there is a stellar perfume under $300 that fits. And honestly I would say below $200.
    I rarely pay retail no matter what the fragrance. So that means I have to avoid the hype and wait until they show up at discounters, or I will get a decant.

    My most expensive purchase was Babycat by YSL. Seeing as to how elusive it is, I decided to pull the trigger, and it is honestly now one of my most prized fragrances in my collection. I paid a little over SGD500 for it (about 295 pounds which is A TON of money to me), but I abso-freaking-lutely LOVE the scent profile. Whether a fragrance is worth the price tag or not depends on how you view fragrances and I think it applies to most things in general. I think most people who say any particular fragrance is overpriced don't realize that perfumes have always been a luxury item and not a basic essential. If anything seems overpriced to you, then you are probably not the target customer for that product. If I was not a fragrance lover and collector, 80% of the niche fragrances would have seemed overpriced to me. You always have the option to spend within your budget and still smell good. No one needs to buy a Roja, Fragrance du Bois, Xerjoff, etc. to smell good. In my opinion, no fragrance or brand you listed here is overpriced considering a fragrance is not just smelling good but also an experience. Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with fragrance content creation or whatsoever and I purchases all my fragrances with my own money.

    • @hayley.clough
      @hayley.clough  8 місяців тому

      I saw the disclaimer at the end of your comment and I just want to make it clear that none of these fragrances were sent to me. They were all purchased by myself and one by my husband, so my opinion remains the same. This is just my opinion if I think they are worth the price tag, which is subjective as I mentioned in the video. I am a fragrance collector too and I love the art of fragrance but I do feel some can be overpriced based on having a luxury brand associated to it. The profit margins will be huge for these brands. I love luxury and will always purchase luxury items but it’s just my own opinion on it.

    Again due to social media.

    And, I realise that the scape goat for the word 'Basic' 🙄 are mostly designer fragrances.

    Some constructive criticism as a viewer who likes perfume and follows many influencers. I find that you continue to gatekeep and deliberately ignore questions about your clothes or specific questions about where and you purchase items. I think it is quite impolite, but I appreciate you so what you like, it's your channel.
    However, when your hobby, or how you make a living relies heavily on viewership and engagement. It might be best to put a disclaimer out and mention that while you reap the benefits of people viewing your channel and blowing smoke, there are some questions you won't answer. Because to just keep cherry picking what you will answer and keep ignoring viewers is rude and you need the interaction, the viewers actually don't. I will never subscribe to a channel like yours. Far too many lovely influencers that actually appreciate their viewers!

      I don’t understand this comment at all, I try to respond to as many comments as I can but I can’t respond to everything. UA-cam isn’t how I make a living, I hardly earn anything from here. You have to be a big channel to earn anything decent. Making one UA-cam video can take me hours, sometimes a full day from filming to editing. I don’t purposely ignore comments, I just don’t have the time to always respond to everything unfortunately.
      I often get asked questions about lipstick or lipliner, sometimes weeks or months after the video was filmed and I can’t remember what I was wearing. I talk to many of my subscribers but I can’t answer everything. If I had the time I would answer everything but I am across 3 platforms. I have zero reason to gatekeep my clothes or anything, it’s just I don’t see every comment.
