His name was Lao, he was Sing Soo-Ling's older half brother and hated Ash because he felt as tho he was stealing control from Sing and taking away the right to run Chinatown from his brother. He wanted to see Sing live up to his potential and refused to listen to the man who killed Shorter over who rightfully owned Chinatown. He believed* Ash was the reason Sing was doubting himself so much and hated how Ash acted so rude and above everyone else. He knew Sing would die if he fought Ash and so he went to kill him, trying to protect Sing and let out all his pent up anger at him. He didn't know Ash and Sing had already agreed not to fight.
The manga was a lot more in dept... I mean, we spend a couple pages of the manga with Sing and Lao talking about this stuff...😐

I feel like Banana Fish broke something inside me and changed me.. I knew it was gonna be heartbreaking, I just didn't expect it to do such 'things' to me. From the day I finished it I couldn't hear the openings/endings without crying...

Hi!! I've finished the show a few days ago and i recovered from it actually
1. ITS AN ANIME!!
2. The reason why its sad its cause this show potrays reality. Gun violence( eventho in my country guns are illegal), rape, ED, assualt, child tracfficking etc. This is reality and sadly many have gone through these.
3. Think of it like this, some random person decides to spread a message through this anime by writing the whole plot like this and BAM it got animated. They made the backstory of the MC sad af so we could cry for them since they deserve more and tbh that's how writing works smh. If they wanna make someone feel something, they'll try to create a tragic backstory of someone so ee could feel emotions.
3. This is the best ending ever. Ash died happily reading Eiji's letter and that he could be free knowing that someone loves him without anything in return in Eiji's seat in his Comfort place -- the library.
4. If he were alive then wouldn't he doubt himself asking questions like "are we actually safe" instead of being happy and carefree in the moment? Plus, he made the choice to die yeahh kinda selfish of him but its his choice to die happy. I'd rather see him passed happily instead of being sad af.
5. ASH AND EIJI AND EVERYONE ARE JUST 2-D CHARACTERS AAAA ( if they're based on irl people then i would still bawl my eyes out)
6. Its an anime!! AGAIN! NONE OF THIS IS REAL! WE FEEL SAD CAUSE OF HIS TRAGIC BACKSTORY AND THE WHOLE TRAUMA HE HAS IS WHAT SOME PEOPLE WENT THROUGH

Yo nunca he visto yaois en mi vida y creo que este es el único que he visto pero yo no sabia q tenía yaoi hasta q vi que se violaban casi todo el rato los hombres y yo quedaba modo wtf pero el anime es tan bueno tiene tan buena historia unos endings tan buenos que de solo recordarlos te entra pena un desarrollo de personajes espectacular unos openings que son buenísimos y de todo osea en general este anime puede que tenga yaoi pero es de los mejores animes que me he visto 9.9/10 (le pondría 10 pero el final me rompió xd)

I try so hard not to cry when I listen to this, I've gotten to the point where I can hold it back and just get a little teary eyed. But it really hurts knowing what happened to Ash in his past and how it ended for him, I know he was happy knowing that he had someone who didn't ask for anything back from him. But I still can't take his death, rip Aslan Jade Callenreese or who most called Ash Lynx. We miss you
But what makes it even worse is that things like this happen to real people. I hope everyone who is having a sh1++y life can find the light in the dark to guide them down a happier path🖤🤍
