- DLP Projectors have a nice CPU Type of Chip that are similar in gold recovery value as a basic pentium ceramic CPU.
Good collectability on them too.

Keep scrapping & Have fun!
Yet again, the chicken steals the show!
Watched this with my sister whom is visiting and she loved seeing the worlds most famous scrapping chook , as for my i just loved seeing the insides of the different projectors and the DLP chips they are very cool looking keep the videos coming ........ Thumbs Up
I'll keep my eyes open for these beauties. Thanks for emphasizing proper disposal of the mercury containing lamps.
Oh man, had my old one on the scrap bench for a month, can't bring myself to scrap it... sentimental. I'll kill it tonight- you've inspired me. The new LED one is amazingly bright and silent, claims you can expect to run it for 22 years straight. I got 9 years daily use from the old one.
I had a dream you were gonna talk About Texas, so I popped in! Dlp winner winner!God Bless Texas, oh instruments!
We picked up about 60 of these from a school recently. I can't wait to take them apart now!
Hi Ben,
There are three types oft projectors: LCD (3 tiny LCD panels inside), DLP (DLP chips inside) and RGB tube (3 cathode ray tubes inside (3 big "eyes" on the front)).
The RGB is ancient...
Then there are laser projectors, it's a kind of DLP but with a laser as the light source insted of a "normal" lamp.
As long as there is a DLP logo in the device, there should be a DLP processor in it. "DLP" is a registered trademark of Texas Instruments.
Best regards from Germany!
I assume that these DLP things contain tiny mirrors that can be rotated. Is that it?
@@louistournas120 Google/wiki digital micromirror device or DMD chip.
@@ZXLNT
That's incredible. They should show it on How Stuff Is made.
@@louistournas120 I bet ya there is youtube video on it :)
DLP = Digital Light Processor, I find them on digital camera boards, and removable DLP chips behind tube on projection tvs, and projectors. My buyer has 2 grades , ceramic dlp and green metal fiber dlp.
Ben collects everything
high end DLP projectors have 3 DLP chips, instead of the just 1 and color wheel most projectors use.
Nice scrap!!
I've scrapped 19 projection tvs and only one had a dLP chip in it. But I'd scrap them again for fun and or the items inside!!
Have a Great Day My Friend!!!
The ones that are hd have it lots of good stuff in it anyway though.
thumps up done brother.. thanks for sharing nice stuff..
Thanks for always scrapping with the environment in mind. Keep up the great work!
Dam, just heading into the workshop, will have to watch this later 😫😂
Found lots of them in the older large t.v. digital light processor
These are my favorite processors
Very, very interesting scrap session Ben. Really enjoyed 👍👍
Nice video, We will also do a video on DLP projectors
Finally got to watch it with a cupper! Lovely chips! It would be great to see a video on how your CPU collection is looking these days, I bet you have some amazing goodies!!
👍I have one the same as the first one you got,I thought there was only one type the second one was nice👍
Some of the lenses make good magnifying lenses I got a few from projection tv and use them for coin collecting (I am half blind). I have also given a few to friends that use a high magnification lenses to read/examine things…
I like that idea of Watercooling would be nice to look at this closer.
She's talking to you! She said gold gold gold! Bagock!
Nice scrap as always I learn something new thank you
Voided warranty when ya dropped it hahaha!
Hi Ben 👍 hope you are well
yeah they are pretty looking 😀👍😀
Hi Ben, you often talk about your cpu collection/pc collection, it would be awesome if you had shown it. i bet that everyone is curious what you were able to gather during your scrapping career.
I’m down with DLP
Yeah you know me.
Naughty By Nature!
That's so crazy. I just found a couple 2 days ago!
I remember getting a free smaller DLP projector last year. It was an older Dell model from a client of mine, sounded like a bad fan when powered up. Found the color glass wheel had 2 sections broken or fallen out so that was the noise. It must have been unbalanced, I did try looking the part up but only places that had it were overseas so I just scrapped it out the rest of the way.
I see you got the hen that laid the golden egg up there on the tailgate of the truck she lay some golden eggs boy you'd be in business
Good on you, environmental protection over saving a few cents on improper Hg disposal.
Thnx m8 i didnt now that the projectors conteine mercury . very good video and good lesson for the lens . btw ... Just for me pls ... Just fill a busket with fans with plastic and the wire and some transformer and next yard round take them they may accept as a motor . my yard 100% accept them and its in € 0 .58
good to see the good luck chicken!
I'm looking into scrapping e-waste. The problem I'm running into in the USA is what to do with the plastics. Not a lot of plastic recyclers take those types of plastics in my area.
Great video Ben
I still am wishing to find a buyer in Ontario Canada. Anyone know of one.
I have found that in the projection tv's if it says HDMI that it will have a nice DLP chip
Sick vid
Awsome video
love it
Thanks for being responsible with the mercury. I think millions of CFL and also the long fluo tubes go into the trash per year. I think the CFLs have about 1 to 5 mg of Hg and the long fluo tubes, 10 to 20 mg. CFL has been phased out and LED took its place.
The next question is, do these LED light contain GaAs?
Good day Ben and "Poopie"
Good video my friend, stay safe and healthy and take care of yourself and the family.
Ttyl my friend. ☺☺☺😇😇😇
Give chicken a screw driver already!!

I only found one in my ewaste career i just dont find them in holland
a nice afternoon surprise
Make gold recovery video bro..
You should do some depopulating videos.
Love to see that
Keep scraping Ben
The population is too high.
fun until next time.
I doesn't know why it's hard to see for me a piece of technology tearing apart so roughly...😟😟😟
Great Video Ben Keep Bringing The Video's Dude Cool Cpu's 👍👍
What I don't understand You take everything apart. if you sell the beamer used and repaired, won't you get more money on ebay?
These devices look barely used, it's a shame to scrap them. Where does Australia get the wealth from ? Wool and opal ?
What is the retail price for a regular DLP Projectors?
Ah you destroyed the spinning mirror
How many grams of gold in a chip
hello Ben, how do you extract the gold
How much gold was in those dlps?
Have you seen how much (or little) recycling Australia does?? I have
Yes, it's because everyone wants to make money, no-one really cares about environment
@@eWasteBen May i ask why you are recycling? Is for money or environment? Everyone has to live, so why not earn a little? But everyone can't earn money with recycling or...?
Are you sure about the lens containing mercury?, not rather the lamp, Which is 100% sure to contain mercury because of it being a mercury vapor light source, Btw the metal housing holding the lens, is all cast aluminum. I don't know if there are still hobbyist building a little resin 3d printer called little RP, here is a link, github.com/goopyplastic/littlerp2 they also talk about recommended DLP, there might still be a good demand for those model even if the projector is half working as they take out the color wheel.
Ben please help out with a working system, I will try and pay for shipping please
The DLP chip Produces the actual imageOn that chip are tiny lights Flash on and off That create the imageYou cannot have a dlp projector without a chip If the chip is bad you will see tiny black dots On the surface of the chip Also if you look through the glass with a magnifying glass you will see the gold bonding wires on the top and bottom of the chip
quick question, how do you get scrap from schools?
Do you plan to sell the digital mirror device chips on ebay?
What are the gray capacitor like thing in the first board
they're like a copper coil wrapped around a ferrite bead, so a little like a transformer
Hi Ben great scrap but I am in need of some advice? Been watching you now for couple of years and learned a lot but I have a delima. I have a Practically brand new CRT flat screen TV I purchased just months before Plasma TVs came on the market. Bought it around 2002 but it's barely been used obviously it's obsolete and I have no idea who would be willing to pay anything for it. Being new for most part just sitting around it still works perfectly therefore I hate the idea of scrapping it. Do you or anyone have thoughts on what I should do with this TV? We no longer even watch TV at all me and my wife both have computers and anything we desire we can watch from there who needs a TV these days? Needing advice on this kinda odd situation.
well, things go in circles, what's obsolete today will again come around as desirable for old school retro types.
So, keep it long term and you'll get more then it was new eventually, who knows, it may even be you that wants it in 10 years time
@@eWasteBen well I have held onto it this long awhile longer can't hurt I guess but the darn thing takes up a fair bit of space that is in short supply in this house.
Careful Ben or you might get a golden Hague egg best wishes been thank you
She was mine I'd call her nugget! Not chicken nugget
The lamp is the only thing that has mercury
Correct, "lenses " Do not contain Mercury. Only the lamps. Most of the time when you get a projector, the Lamp has already been removed. (it's worth more than the projector sometimes)
nyimak saya
Hi Ben how can I find your eBay page
if you close your eyes and imagine it really hard, you might find it in there
