    I have a 2024 Kona Ultimate and for my driving needs it's almost perfect. I charge it once a week( I have a home charger )and it takes 4 to 4.5 hrs and costs me $3.38 dollars. The ride is solid with no rattles and the fit is great. I am enjoying my first electric.

      That's so wild, you must love how much money you're saving by going electric! What made you decide to go electric over ICE for a new car?

      @@CarsWithSteve I have been a class A licensed mechanic since 1972 and owned a lot of cars and decided to try electric after a lot of research. I wanted to lease instead of buy because all of the advances in ev technology might leave me with an obsolete dinosaur. I chose the Kona because it just felt right. It drives tight,has great road feel, decent range, good economy and I just like it.

      Must have been neat to really see and get to understand the tech in cars as newer models and features were added over the years. Really great call choosing to lease over finance right now. If sodium or solid state batteries take off, range and charge times could look very different when you're ready to swap into something new

      I like how you brought up no rattles. People are still reporting lots of rattles in the Tesla 2024 m3 refresh.

    What about real range in cold weather or with AC on on a trip?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  18 днів тому

      Didn't have the chance to drive this in the winter time but general rule of thumb is that you lose about 20%ish of range and it takes the vehicle slightly longer to change in colder temps. With winter coming up I'm definitely planning some cold drives with different EVs!

    Down in Australia we get two versions of the Electric. (Base) simply called Kona Electric and Kona Electric Premium. Base can be had with the 99kw or 150 kw motor and matching battery size, Premuim is only in the 150kw motor.
    Premium gets the Power liftgate among other features.
    You can also option the N-line pack on the Electric which is just trim changes.
    All Kona's get a donut spare here.
    Oh yeah... Our top trims get memory for the driver seat, relaxation mode (only works when parked) and heated outboard positions on the rear bench.

      The differences in international models are pretty interesting, but it sounds like your top trim gets most of the same options as the Canadian Ultimate. Having the actual spare is so much more useful than the inflator kit, would be great for Hyundai to bring that to North America as well. Have you picked up a Kona yourself?

      @@CarsWithSteve Not yet. Still got some lead time, waiting to hear from my dealer.

      Makes sense.. People out my way are waiting 5 - 8 months to get theirs. Will this be your first EV?

      @@CarsWithSteve I ordered a Hybrid... longish lead on those too. It's the batteries I believe.

      A family friend has the hybrid and seems to really enjoy it, hopefully you aren't waiting too long for yours

    "There's a pretty big discrepancy price wise."
    $49076 CAD is equivalent to $35943 USD at today's exchange rate, so the difference isn't that big. As you said the starting US price reflects an entry level trim that Canada won't have. For an extra $1903 USD or $2598 CAD you get more battery and more power, so I think you guys are getting a slightly better value package at the bottom end.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 місяці тому

      That would make it a discrepancy though would it not? :P

    Hi just want your opinion if kona electric only cost $5000 more than Atto 3, which car would you choose?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 місяці тому

      Tough choice! Depending on where you live Hyundai has a wide dealer network which makes warranty and service support easier. Range is similar between them, as are the feature sets. I haven't had the chance to start reviewing the BYD lineup yet so can't speak to performance, comfort and feature set though

      @@CarsWithSteve I see... In my country Hyundai has wide dealership but ~AUD5000 more expensive than Atto 3

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 місяці тому

      $5k is a big difference for sure. Have you had a chance to drive the Atto 3? We won't get them in Canada for a few years at least so I might have to make a trip to Europe or AU and check them out

    • @renbangbprd7236

      @@CarsWithSteve Had test drive the Atto 3, but in my opinion the battery estimation software is kinda blunt. For example the range estimation is always the same whenever I turn on the AC, turn off the AC, or set the AC temp to the lowest. Because of this I doubt Atto 3 BMS 😅
      For efficiency I got 16.8kwh/100KM, full urban driving for ~1 hour.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 місяці тому

      hmm odd that it doesn't update range when you have temp adjusted. Think you're veering more towards the Kona?
