- The mother of two boys hit and killed by California socialite Rebecca Grossman is expressing her disappointment in Grossman’s recent sentencing. Nancy Iskander joins NewsNation's Ashleigh Banfield in her first national interview to discuss the sentencing, which she considers light. "It's been hard to accept," Iskander said on "Banfield." "For these two horrific traumas, as well as the loss of the two brothers for their little brother Zachary, the sentence is not equivalent to the loss at all."
The Iskander family has created their own foundation to honor Jacob and Mark; Nancy hopes it will be a fitting tribute and do some justice in honoring their memory.

If she was a woman of colour, would he go out of his way to defend her? I sadly doubt it. I can’t wrap my head around it. How do we make the Judge accountable for such a disgusting display of bias. I think there should be a movement to get him disbarred.
@@gillianquinn7160 Being that she has a lot of money and power in California, I’m sure she rubs shoulders with judges, prosecutors, and others from the DA’s office. No question that her relationships with powerful people has played a part in the lack of accountability for her actions.
@@516Mel I’m a 50 year old Irish woman and on a human level this story gets into my bones. This Judge can’t get away with this. It’s a story about corruption at the highest level. This can’t happen in today’s society. Something has to be done. The mother of the boys will never heal if this pathetic sentencing sticks. She basically got away with murder. She’ll be out in 7 yrs.

Not to mention she has been living with an ankle monitor in her mansion during all of this because she posted bond. She should have had to sit in jail just like everyone else in my opinion. Rebecca was impaired and driving at over 80 mph in a residential area and hit two boys who were in the marked crosswalk. Pathetic sentencing. Rebecca got off early in my opinion.
Her name is is fitting GROSS, that woman killed 2 children she took a mother’s heart and soul x2 crushed her children on the road and kept driving. some people live their lives like the world is their playground. We share this world with other people that’s why there are rules that’s why there are laws and that’s why there are speed limits. My wish for this judge is that he will experience the pain that this poor woman, Nancy and her family are going through because the pain of losing a child does not end every year there are anniversaries of pain. This weekend marks Father’s Day weekend in Canada those two little boys had a father who also love them.

I may not have the medical degree but I have the life experience living with one and I know the difference. This woman be diagnosed and then everybody needs to understand that she will never change. This woman will never take responsibility for her crimes for her mistakes. She will always make it about herself. This is the way of narcissists. It's true that you become this way because it is born out of the mistakes and mistreatment of your caregivers. When you were in your formative years growing up, yes it is their fault that you have become this way. But it's always going to be the person's fault for not fixing it for not seeking help for not wanting to be better. I feel for this mother so much. Any everyday stiff would’ve got 34 to life. That’s the bottom line. This is outrageous. Campaign to vote the judge out and go to every parole hearing. She goes in front a different panel when it comes to parole.
My heart breaks for this mother. I have 2 children. If that had happened to them, then my whole family would have been wiped out. I wonder if the sentence would have still been 15 years had Nancy only had the two boys, almost like “it’s okay you have other kids”. She’s right, 15 years per child was the only just sentence here. An adult made the choice to drink and drive, she knew the risks when she got in her car. Jacob and Mark would have given joy to the lives of many every single day, and this was robbed of them, leaving a lifetime ripple of pain, anger and sorrow for their loved ones.
Just get a taxi. Or a bus. Or walk. Call a friend - or a relative. There are plenty of options. Whatever you do, don’t drive.
Each child is an individual life, and each death tears a huge indiividal hole in the mother's heart, neither life taken has affected Rebecca sincerely!
Life for each child would have been fitting, money and social status clearly outweighed this insulting verdict.
Grossman could afford to hire 17 Attorneys to try to cast doubt on the bereaved mother .......

This family is not ready for forgiveness which is fine but will eventually find peace. The more your concentrate on Rebecca Grossman the bitter you will become. Rebecca’s punishment is not extreme but will break her as prison is far from her reality. A wealthy socialite who did not plan murder but caused the death of two small boys will struggle to survive in prison. This is a huge punishment for her. She will come down to earth quickly no doubt.

Watching from Scotland, I'm shocked. I always thought the justice system in the US was so much better, sentences fitted the crime. Not in this case. Awful for these beautiful wee boy's mummy.

The only justice is to remember she's a "socialite". By the time she's out of jail if she even makes it, her life is over anyway. She will be old and disgraced and will never be the glamourous centre of attention again. Somehow, I feel like that would be worse for her than jail.
The sentence is correct. She is not a murderer, as she had no intent to kill. She committed manslaughter. The police officer who recently shot and killed a man in his own apartment, whom she made a mistake and thought was in HER apartment, only got ten years. The police officer had intent to kill, but it was based on a mistake, so she was convicted of manslaughter, not murder.

Grossman has never taken responsibility for her actions that caused the death of two young boys. She did everything to shift the blame to her bf or even called her family urging them to tamper with the testimonies of witnesses and tried to get her bf to take the blame. And yes, she hit the boys and RAN and it was only bc her Mercedes stopped that the police were able to apprehend her at the scene of the crime. She deserved DOUBLE the sentence she got bc she murdered TWO boys. And yes, the judge was lenient with her, probably bc some lives are valued more than others in this country.
The whole story is so tragic for the family who lost their 2 boys. Bring in wrong place at wrong time can be deadly. The whole story of the speeding cars... At least vehicular homicide suspect was sentenced. It's California they look at risk of reoffending, clean past record, etc. The defense trying to blame the man's car or the excuses they came up with. There did not appear to be remorse for the parents. Maybe that will come with time in the big house where her life won't be so cushy.
There are parole hearings on UA-cam the offender almost always has to be prompting by parole board to admit what their actions did to the suffering of the victim and their families. The parolee often tries to avoid that. Saying you a lot instead of I.
