    Very clear and concise. Thank you.

    This video doesn't show how to use the acrylic VTA block for cantilever azimuth alignment. This is what I'm interested in because it's very tricky.

    Great Video, I tried to do mine all on my own, but was ok with it just guessing and using my eye, but I knew there was much more to this, as I use to DJ back in my teens but that was many moons ago now, back then I used the best stylus as it was for DJing and moving the record back and forth to do DJing but after seeing your video here I ordered that kit and now will do it properly so my records sound solid and no terrible sound. Thanks

    You don't mention when checking VTA how you set the tone arm/stylus/album before taking the measurement. E.g., is there an album on the platter with the needle sitting in a groove before sighting whether the tonearm is level or not relative to the gauge?

    What happens when you can't get the cartridge to line up straight with both points? Mine will not square up with both points. If a make a slight adjustment for the inner point it is no longer square with the outer point.

      Get a proper Turntable Tonearm Cartridge Alignment Protractor, it will assist you in getting the correct alignment. All this tool will do is get the cartridge pointed straight, there is much more to setting up a cartridge properly.

      In this case, you probably need to think of moving it forward or backwards in the headshell as well, to take into account overhang (overhang wasn’t mentioned in the vid - easier to just google rather than me try to explain). Whilst not the same with every single cartridge, a good rule of thumb with a detachable headshell is that it should be 5.2 mm from the tip of the stylus to where the headshell meets the tonearm.

    Great, explanatory video. My question has to do with the setting of the vertical tracking angle. As far as I know, most beginner's turntable does not offer the possibility to lower or raise the back of the tonearm, so does this mean all turntables without this system are working wrong? Is there any workaround?

      Thicker or thinner platter mats can help to a certain extent if there’s no adjustable vta

    Does this work for Technics S shaped tone arms? Also does this effectively calibrate for concord style orthofon cartridges?
    I don’t see that y’all have answered any one else’s questions but hope you will.

    could use a bit more detail. what's the "m" button for? what's the other 'battery' (?) slot for on the bottom of the dYnAmOmeTeR? others have mentioned curiosity about azimuth alignment. between this video and the instructions, I was able to figure it out---me dumb (put batteries in backwards and had to spend 20 minutes prying them out)--but with such a nice kit, y'all should go through the whole process and details.

    IMPORTANT: It is the cantilever that you need to insure is aligned properly. The cantilever may or may not be in line or straight in the cartridge. (i have several that are not)
    With stylus in the center spot on the protractor, the cantilever should be in a straight line with the protractor line, (matching the straight center line on the protractor).
    This can be very difficult to see on some cartridges. A strong magnifying glass and lots of light help.

    This video showed the alignment block, but completely skipped the explanation on how to use it. Did I miss something here or was this just an omission in the video?

    Hey! is there a possibility that the tightening of the screws also affect the alignment of the stylus? like making the needle not pointing straight down? i have done the alignment of my cartridge with the protractor already but im kinda skeptical because one of the screws is not as "into" the nut as the other if you know what i mean.
    Hopefully you or anyone in the comments can help me out with this cause i dont wanna hurt my records :)

    how come there is no overhead shot WHERE the cartridge lines up with what!!! The front of the shell lines up with the long straight line???

    • @Zoyous
      @Zoyous 25 днів тому

      The headshell is not necessarily going to be perfectly squared with the cartridge. That's why there are grooves where you can adjust the position of the screws that hold the cartridge in its own orientation. Focus on adjusting the cartridge to align with the protractor.

    What about overhang?

    • @frosteone1670
      @frosteone1670 Рік тому

      Exactly, this tool does nothing when it comes to over hang. Get a Turntable Tonearm Cartridge Alignment Protractor for your overhang if you to truly be correct in your setup.

    This video doesn't show the actual alignment of the cantilever which is the most important part nor does the kit allow for setting the "overhang" of the stylus which has to be completed before you use the protractor. Just incomplete information here.

    Far from 'perfectly align' -- What you didn't show is first balancing the tonearm. Then second, finding the over hang. Then third, aligning the cantilever, not the body of the cartridge to the alignment gauge of which there are 3 types in use today. Fourth is using a microscope to place the stylus of the Ortofon at 92 degrees (top forward tilt) in relation to the record surface. Then use a test record to adjust anti-skate.

      You don't need to Balance the tonearm if you have that Electric device, and you forgot step One, First Balance the whole turntable.

  • @Винил-настройка-Владимир-57

    Good afternoon.Erroneous understanding of the adjustment of the tonearm base in height.This adjustment has nothing to do with setting the arm in parallel.Adjusting the height for VTA and SRA installation.

    Step 1: overhang.
    Without that, this whole kit is utterly useless.
    Apart from the fact there IS no "1 protractor fits all" solution.
    If it was, that should mean the following variables would have no meaning: differences in pivot position on the table, effective armlengths, straight or S shaped arms, etc etc...
    Don't be fooled... There is no "golden egg".
