This is the decade I wish there was more behind the scenes tech info on. How is it that the turbines stomped the Merlin/Griffon motors off the map once the drive trains and other hull hardware held up, even though the touted HP numbers were in the same ballpark (I think). Was it the turn fins, honeycomb, hull profile, engine stamina, something else, a combination?

Probably the fact that the turbines were a lot lighter than the old V12 Merlins, Griffons and Allisons.
