Yamaha is my next atv, I’ve always owned Honda and appreciate their quality. However after many reviews I think Yamaha builds a quality, affordable machine at a reasonable price. Nice video.

I've been riding my 2006 450 Kodiak wildly to test it's durability and this an a rough track after all it costed me 1 K to get it back on the road and I agree that it's one of the best utility quads ever made

Separate brake levers are the way to go on every level. Some conditions warrant just the front brakes and some just the rear. It's not a car. ATVs require a different driving style.

I'm glad they changed the kodiak to a 700 and lowered msrp. instead of building 3 different motors for atv's they just have one that's versatile, it's smart. Who knows maybe the Grizzlaay will be a vtwin in the future and the kodiak will be the single cylinder thumper for hunting, farming and general recreational riding.

Nice. Although not a woman, I am much shorter than most men and I tell you, this atv hit home with me. I rode it and am getting one soon. A bigger motor in a smaller frame made this a winner! Base model is fine. With these arms I don't need EPS! Lol! And the option to adjust the clutch if I ever want to run with the grizzleys!

Im glad they did away with the high seating position and brought the gauges up closer to your face. I always thought I was to high riding my brothers (then again he did roll his following me down a tight path in my Brute) They were far to tippy for me but it looks like they are headed in the right direction. Good Job Yamaha.

Bought the Kodiak 700 base model. I am 6 feet 2 inches and this thing fits me like a glove. Will wheelie if you want it to but not as aggressive as a Grizzly. I trail ride, hunt, and work off it. Stock form swallows up my 27 inch Zillas and plenty of torque to mud them or hill climb. The only thing I wish is that a diff lock was available on it and a gas gauge. However I run in swamps a lot and have never been stuck accept on stock tires in frame deep peanut butter. Best of all it cost me $5400 at Abernathys . Yamaha threw in a warn winch at that price as well with install kit. By far rides smoother than the Hondas and has a torqueir feel than both them and the Polaris. If I had to do it over again I would buy the same.

No way it has more torque than a Polaris Sportsman 850. The Sportsman 570 only has 4 less horsepower and that’s a shame when you consider the Yamaha is a 700.

Unless I missed it, I didn't hear that Yamaha only offers 2 model utility atv's for 2016. All have the same 708cc single cylinder engine. NO 450 or 550 or etc.
If you want a Yamaha utility atv, then it will be with a 708cc engine. As a girl...I do not want something so large. I prefer a smaller engine. Here is a case...that size does matter.
Love the video! Please keep them coming Dirt Trax.

I wish I had taken a look at the Yamaha's before buying a Sportsman 570. The 570 is a clunking clanking mess that sounds like it's gonna self destruct itself. Polaris says ohhh that's perfectly normal. I've never ridden a Honda, Kawasaki, or Yamaha that sounded like it was going to grenade apart at any moment while brand new. I'm stuck with it for now but NEVER ever again will Polaris get a dime from me.
Advice...never load up a brand new out of the crate Polaris atv onto the trailer and take it home without test driving it first!!! If it sounds like a Model T Ford cracking and popping across the parking lot then leave it there
    Good things...engine is pretty sweet.
Runs great and runs strong as hell. Quads look darn good.
Con...the drivetrain is a train wreck

Pe Peroni for 2019....the engine is now 686cc.......16-18 708cc...... Yamaha spec page will confirm this.
Kodiak/wolverine/grizz all had the same motor. Now that the wolverine is 850vtwin now.
The 19 Kodiak/grizz have the same 686cc as the Yamaha Viking

    • @Driftuner

  • @otahu26

Why buy an ATV..for 11 grand. When you can get a Viking for 12499. and Seats 3 people. Price wise.. ATV's need to come back down to 8400.. for a single seat ATV. The savings on metal alone to the manufacture must off set the cost of Atv's vs Side by sides.
