The classics line is still extraordinary because of the materials used and the attention to detail. Much like the neca turtles, even if the architecture of the basic bodies construction is outdated the look and feel of the line is pure quality 👌
Its excellent to see Dan's collection. What you discussed about the white shelving is exactly what we're discussing for our rooms 😊 Love the MOTU toys in Dan's room. Thanks for this Ed ❤
Ed... meets... Dan... the mind boggles! 😁 Dan, if you tape or glue a layer of kitchen foil on the underside of a shelf it'll reflect light on the items directly below (depending on lighting conditions in the room).
Amazing collection! And so knowledgeable! I'm just happy there are such complete collections out there. Mine are all in a box, none are displayed. I simply don't have the space. I need to build an addition to my home!
I agree with Dan, I have black shelfs with concrete looking wall behind in my cave 😁. Have to have alot of lighting, but it looks so cool with the black.
I envy you that you had the opportunity to meet Dan and see his collection. It must have been an amazing experience! Lucky you! :) For me, as a collector living in the Czech Republic, it is even more difficult to get to the USA. It really costs a lot of money. But my girlfriend and I are considering a trip to some foreign event in the future where we could meet with you, if that would be possible. I watching your's and Pixel Dan channel for many years now. And thanks to you guys, I learned a lot of interesting things from the world of action figures and retro toys. I think it would be awesome see you in real life :).
Awesome! I was big into He-Man. I had Gray Skull Castle, and the Slime Pit. I remember putting Grizzlor in the Slime and it ruined his hair, so I had to get another one. I remember playing with Kobra Khan in the bath tub because he could spray water. Thunder Punch He-Man was the coolest I think. I loved caps and the small of them after! I had both cats too. Wish I had more money to buy more back in the day.
I get the idea of white displays but the black just looks way cooler imo. If you add some lighting to the shelves it helps a lot but also those tiered acrylic stands dan uses are great for it as well.
Dan's collection is impressive. But am a bit disapointed that he did not display his Icon Heroes Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain. The Best MOTU stuff ever
PD is most definitely the OG MOTU collector I was watching him when he was with devall if I spelled that right and the other two guys And i agree the white shelves seems to brighten up the dark spots I would most definitely go for the White shelves
I want my bedroom just like Pixel Dan.. Love the purple walls which I want to get and want to get similar curtains ... I got quite a bit to display. I can then put my MOTU and Thundercats display up on shelving. I dont' have any glass cases yet.
Hey cool, a video where there is no voice over, just people talking in a room about toys, just a nice natural chat about toys and collections, with out empty chatter over footage filmed a week before gone through editing where all the heart has been seaped out of the video, nice to see these once in a while again........... DAN!
I like the voice over videos 😁 but yeah if I was able to toy hunt with dan or my buddies every week I wouldn’t need to do it cuz the banter would keep it going.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut A lot of people do it seems xD i loved the store browsing, it was almost as if you were part of the group hunting for toys. the editing and the studio V.O ripps your right out of that mindset, at least with me. probably the only one :p
I think Dan could place white panels behind the shelves and still keep his bookcases black. That would let reflected light bounce off the figures for added illumination. Try that before a complete switch out. Just my opinion in hopes of shedding some light on this subject ( yes, pun intended!)
@Ed's Retro Geek Out You're welcome. Another possibility would be to get a button light(s), LED, battery type with adhesive mounts. Stick one under each shelf shining down over the collections. But, I see you guys are very good with creative lighting. I'm sure you've all tried various lighting techniques. When I was in art school we were told Presentation Is Everything. I think it was the best advice I received and it's helped me to sell my work over the years. Best wishes to all.
@@malcolmharing3744 Those battery lights make sense in some scenarios but there is no substitute for proper powered LED lighting, id soon get cheesed off replacing batteries and turning them on / off manually every time i wanted to view my collection for 10mins.
@SecretOfMonkeyIsland That totally makes sense. Sometimes it's not possible to hard wire lighting so the battery option is a possible alternative. The most important point is building a collection that is worthy of a decent display 👏 kudos to all collectors out there".!
hi! awesome collection! Do you remember, it was a toy truck in the 90s, pritty big on a big wheels with paws in em? May be you know the name of that truck? Trying to find it. I think paws was retractable
I noticed Dan's room was very dark with black curtains shut etc, it could have been night when you visited but assume he keeps it dark to keep room cooler and protect against sunlight UV damage / excessive heat?.
Hey! I live in Kane County! I won't be able to make it to the toy show, though. Anyway, my toy room is also my bedroom. I haven't had a woman in my bed in years. 😋
Yeah dude would have loved to bring my studio lights in but they were in belgium. Im hoping he does a long toyroom tour and brings in some lights. This was more of a walk and talk but it’s fun to see a glimpse of what he has there 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut haha, good I'm glad, because hitching back to Europe might take a while, lol. Great videos, me and my friends are big fans of yours and other Toy Hunting guys.
Hi guys< from Uzbekistan, Tashkent- all you’re showing me is a new one, a big dream to have, too, collections of figures I like!! I’m here for the first time, on your channel I watched some videos about the collection and the search for new figurines, sorry for such, the question, if you might find it inappropriate, let me know! My question is, what do you do to keep your collections intact? and the second question along with the third, I think you should ask: how do you deal with dust? and aren’t you afraid of earthquakes and figurines can break and fall, how to be? these, questions for me are important and torment, not the first day!!
Oh dude I love tmnt! 😁 I wish we had had more time. We didn’t get to talk about the vintage motu enough for sure. But then again I’m hoping he does a more in depth collection tour on his channel 🤓🤘
It was awesome having you, dude! Thanks for makin the toy room look good in your vid! 🙌

Dan, if you tape or glue a layer of kitchen foil on the underside of a shelf it'll reflect light on the items directly below (depending on lighting conditions in the room).
This sounds freaking interesting what does it look like tough?
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Unfortunately not very good, it only works as well as having a white shelf, for a real lighting solution you'd need LEDs.
Amazing collection! And so knowledgeable! I'm just happy there are such complete collections out there. Mine are all in a box, none are displayed. I simply don't have the space. I need to build an addition to my home!

those are the types of rooms so many of us dream of having! Glad you got to check it out.
