(It's called a teratoma if I'm not incorrect) Even this kinda "scy-fi" mutation happens irl (I'm not saying the infection of zoochosis is possible, I'm saying thst crazy things can happen even in our world and this disease can be explored using logic) So in resume, the symptoms and sings of this disese start with: Unusually high body temperature (that's why you have a termal camera) Unusual behavior like animals biting their own legs (zebra) Maybe some animals stop eating, or look tired for no reason And then the mutations And probably death of the animal because of blood loss, infections, or hunger due to the lack of a functional mouth Another thing that i want to say about the mechanics of the disease amd the mutations, it's that most of the visible mutations occur before birth, that's why I'm bringing embryionic development as an explanation of the mutations Imagine that the disease reverses the growing of a specific part to a bunch of non mature cells from the embryo stage with wrong instructions that will be later forming a mouth where digestive system ends It would be a mess And another thing, this could explain how the disease can infect so many different animals (This is not normal among real diseases, they usually take some time before they can jump from one species to another) So grouth reccession it's my guess about how this disease works I could be wrong tho, completely wrong lmao
