True - there was this weird vogue in the 90s for making franchised children's cartoons out of films that were never meant for kids and were not in any way appropriate for kids. The Mask, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters. The Addams Family cartoon was particularly bland, formulaic and generally awful, as I recall. This one somehow managed to succeed, probably by not being remotely canon. In the original film, Beetlejuice is a creepy, dangerous, predatory pervert who tries to half-force, half-trick underage Lydia into *marrying* him, just to get himself out of the afterlife via a loophole. In the cartoon, he's now - somehow - her bestie. Work that one out.
