Hey Danya, I know you might hear this a lot but you AND all your content are primarily responsible for getting me to 1700 elo, thank you sir!! Keep up the great work
You’ll hit 1900 in no time, your core position skills will improve, tactically you’ll see more ideas, and so long as you keep practicing, your time control usage will be better. Keep it up!!!
Thank you for taking the time to truly EDUCATE US and not just throwing content out for clicks. We can tell you really care. You are appreciated and I always recommend your videos to all my chess friends. I’m around 2000 and videos like these rest help me get into a master’s mindset. Valuable.
Those lessons are great but useless. Nowadays players under 1k elo respond with top engine moves in less than 1 sec - no matter how obscure line you play is. Bobby Fischer was right, computers destroyed chess, now it's just machine vs machine. Was fun while it lasted but it's over, I just don't see the point in playing chess anymore.
I'll never get tired of Danya teaching. This game was so clean, that could really be from a textbook of positional play and conversion. Leave a like guys!
28:00 I can’t believe how far and at what level of detail he sees into these calculated lines. He saw that knight domination idea and how to counter it and like 2 subsequent ideas. All while explaining the earlier moves.
You aren’t the only one buddy. These videos are great to let your mind be fascinated away from your circumstances. Life is ups and downs. Find out where you’re going and hold on friend. Things will be better than you know soon enough. You can do it!
Finally i know some proffesional variation against this line! as a 2000+ player who wants to try learning e4 it's so annoying when they play this kind of unpopular variation knowing how to like equalize in like dozen or so moves while i barely touched basic lines, and just playing with the logic i have to struggle to win equal endgames.
Hey Daniel. I have been watching you since 2020, and you’re the first reason I got back into chess. Make a UA-cam membership thing, you don’t have to make exclusive videos, but just have like a little for fun tournament between members or something.. you could even make the rules of the tournament that we play your speed run openings! I’m sure you can come up with lots of fun ideas. I don’t have twitch prime, but I’ll support you here!! ❤
I have a lot of respect for Naroditsky. This was an absolute stunning game to witness... Levy would have charged alot of money for this in a course which wouldn't even come close to this quality.
As a French player, I love watching Danya deconstruct the French. 49mn of positional goodness. I would like to see more Advance/Steinitz as these are what I usually see, but this is also interesting (and Tarrasch is good to learn about)
I don't play chess at all but I love watching these videos. The most important thing I've leanred from Daniel is his willingness to completely change plans as circumstances dictate. He'll talk for a minute about how he plans to do x, y, and z, or how the opening is designed to control such and such a square, or build towards this or that move, but he never gets tunnel vision. He's ready to shift gears at a moment's notice as soon as that's what his opponent's play dictates. I feel like we don't see that enough in non-chess life.
These kinds of games clearly show how a game is won, not with memorization of some random opening lines, but with a superior level of positional understanding along with a razor-sharp calculation ability! Beautiful...
just as a small piece of background information. georg meier switched form playing for germany to uruguay (his mother is from there). he had a dispute with the german chess federation and GM Elisabeth Paetzh which couldnt be resolved. Thanks so much for making these videos-I started playing chess in May and just hit 1000 in rapid largely due to your speedruns. The way you explain everything is super helpful and has really helped me develop a strong thinking process.
I really like that the eval bar is hidden in your videos. It's a lot more interesting and instructive to think on my own who has the advantage, and hopefully everyone understands my point.

Thank you for continuing to gift us with instructive, engaging, and fun chess content. Having hovered for around 2100 USCF for a few years, this has made me enjoy studying again to some small extent. I'm still not thrilled about being out prepared in the opening nearly every game because everyone is so booked up likely because of covid, but at least I can still enjoy the game again somewhat.
Fantastic video, as always, Danya. Спасибо! I believe there's a typo in the video's title: Akiba's surname was Rubinstein, not Rubenstein, as the title says.
Rotlewi versus Rubinstein is a game of chess played between Gersz Rotlewi and Akiba Rubinstein in Łódź, Poland on December 26, 1907. It features a brilliant queen and rook sacrifice by Rubinstein to force mate . The game was dubbed Rubinstein's Immortal Game by Hans Kmoch.
I couldn't ask for better chess content than this video (and many other Danya videos). It really helps sharpen my overall chess understanding, so that I get exposed to genuine GM thinking.
Fantastic video, I just love how he always explains everything happening, why you play certain moves and why not other ones, and alternative lines after the game. Great content Danya and very helpful
This is disgustingly similar to a game I lost as black in an open Caro-kann defense. I missed the option of a6 because I saw exactly the tactic Danya was talking about, yet completely overlooked Nxd7 Qxd7 Bb5?? would have been a blunder for white because of the Qxb5 option. I only saw the axb5 Qxa8+ tactic, and although I mulled over the possibility of a6 for a while, I failed to find the Qxb5 defense of black; so I ended up playing the inferior Qe7? threatening Qb4+. However, white had the preemptive a3 to stop the queen trade, and because of my gross oversight of the position, I decided to resign the game early in disgust for missing the Qxb5 option that should have been easily noticeable.
Nice stress on prophylactic thinking. I'd guess as you get to lower and lower levels, players may spend over 90% of their time thinking about their plans and ideas, and less than 10% thinking about what their opponents' are. Thank you again for the best and most entertaining chess instruction on the internet.
This is the best game of speedrun. quite some endgame technique/calculation. Congrats to opponent also for finding some annoying defenses. you could have easily titled as how to play endgame.
Danya! You’re back :) I can’t say enough how much I appreciate and enjoy your videos. I every now and then will watch Levy, or Hikaru, or Aman, or Hansen, but none of them provide the level of analysis and explanation articulated as clearly and succinctly as you do. Please keep making speed run videos! I go back and watch the ones you’ve done in the past all the time. Ty for your work, dedication, and passion toward chess! You’ve helped me rise from 900 to 1200 in a year, and I hope to keep climbing! In short, you da bomb!
Such a clean game. Positional masterclass Danya! The French is my least favourite opening to play against as white because I have to admit it, it’s good, and black has so many options for counter play or even to kill all chances at an interesting game. It feels like you are playing blacks game. Anyway Ggs
1:55 Instead of Nf3 you could also play Bd3. That leads to an extremely effective trap, which goes Bd3 Ngf6 Qe2 Nxe4 Bxe4 Nf6 Bxb7! and White wins a pawn. I made a whole repertoire around this trap and it's not even dubious. White is fighting for an edge just like in the mainlines.
18:00 Don't tie major piece to minor task Epot versus Ecin When playing a move engaging a piece you loose the potential attacks it can do and engage in a suite of action
Hi Daniel. Just reminding you.. you promised that u will plays kings Indian defence speed run.. As this speed run might come to an end soon I thought to remind you. Thnx..big fan
That early midgame was super intense, very hard to evaluate. I feel like this is one of the games in the speedrun where the opponent scrumbled quite early, but understandably so
Why exactly do you “loathe” the Rubinstein variation? Is it because it allows Black to achieve a comfortable game without the usual drawbacks, i.e., the usual bad light squared bishop? That forces White to be more creative!
A Daniel Naroditsky video is a gift to the chess community

That ending was insane work and foresight. You called every move in the last 10 moves and you had a full understanding of everything. So good.
GMs are something else man. Even IMs and some NMs/CMs just amaze me (just shy of the 2000 barrier) with their depth of knowledge.
