My son is in 2nd grade goes to a Charter school (the curriculum is 1 year ahead). However, I supplement with my own materials. So he has two math curricula, I've started and stopped Beast Academy 4 times. Lately we've been supplementing with TGTB level 4 math and he's breezing through it. I hope to try Singapore in the summer. Two of his classmates do IXL. Also I love Fix It Grammar.
We had Beast Academy so that it would be "fun" as well. We won't be proceeding with it next year, either. Glad to hear that IEW SS worked well. We are going to be using it next year. We chose Word Roots for next year, too! We loved Spelling You See D, but we stopped E at the semester.
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool It was too repetitive. My daughter was getting so bored that she wouldn't truly do the work. It went from being fun and effective to "what is the least amount that I can do here"?
3 math curriculums is a lot!!! We do supplement tho with games for a Math topic and the the math mannoth topic workbooks as they are just on the topic they struggle with!!! Nothing wrong with doing a curriculum slowly and bringing it forward to the next school year!!! I assign written assignments often and allow them to make them up however they want!!! My kids now love math since we started simply math. We’ve skipped some review pages tho!!! We are thinking of using spelling u see!!!
It’s something available to us on Washington. It’s basically alternative education out of the public school. Do they will purchase non-religious curriculum for us if we do monthly reports on it and go to 1-5 classes a week. At this point, the compromise works for us….
Math Mammoth has always been supplemental for us. I like Teaching textbooks and TGTB math because they teach the lessons to my kids and then I can just come along and help as needed. My kids are not great with just following instructions on their own, so MM would not be a great primary math for us. That being said, we stopped using MM because I finally came to the conclusion that, for now, I'm happy with the amount that my kids are learning just using their "primary" math. TT is teaching my 5th grader everything she needs and TBATB Math has been just the right amount of math for my 6th grader. The gaps I felt where there when we started homeschooling have been "filled" and I'm happy with them just working on that one math curriculum for now.
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool I see! I was just curious because I just ordered math mammoth 3 for this fall so I wondered if there was something you weren't happy with about it. Thanks!

That’s great! Thanks for sharing what you do!

Why did you stop with SYS E? Was is just getting too repetitive for you? Did you switch to something else?

Have you used any of this curriculum? What did you think?

Simply Math has been really great. I wish we could skip some of the review, but my daughter needs it all... so good thing it's there :)
What is this parent partnership program that you mention? I would love more info on that.

I enjoyed hearing about how and why everything worked/didn’t work for your children. Thanks for the reviews!
Thanks for watching!
Did I miss why y'all didn't stick with math mammoth?
