Fun fact, in the original graphic novel by Darkhorse, this scene actually involved him going on a killing spree, since this was meant for all audiences they wisely chose to make it more cartoony and goofy rather than bloody, violent and disturbing

@@chango_fett I remember watching the movie when I was a little older, like middle school age, and finally realizing it was the same guy playing both parts blew my mind. That’s when I knew Jim Carrey was a legend
Same here. However, Jim Carrey turned down $10 million for The Mask 2 because he doubted that he could give fans familiar aspects of what they remember from this movie and add a whole new storyline with new characters.
I’d rather take a bland Jim Carry performance than ANYTHING Son of the Mask gave us. Words can’t describe my hate for how they continued this amazing movie😭
They did have some parts of the comic into the movie. He was both ripped off by the mechanics and beaten up by the biker gang. However, the beaten up by biker gang part happens in a deleted scene, which makes sense why he torments them, when he's Bighead,(The Mask). Only difference is that in the movie, he doesn't kill the mechanics and biker gang, he just scares them,(biker gang) and injures them,(mechanics) in a sort of comedic but painfully-looking way. So, even if this movie wasn't as violent as the comic, it did however have the same thing happening to Stanley.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite comedies ever. I mean, I don't understand the hate it gets. I truely don't. Like, I will never, never, never understand the hate of this movie for all eternity. NEVER. It's like one of my favorite comedies ever, along with the Hangover (I also don't understand the hate/apathy about it either) and Ted. For instance, I love Jim Carrey as the Mask (best movie of his ever). It's so much better than Horton Hears a Who (the animation is cringy, childish, and weird) and the live action grinch (I'm terrified of that live action grinch; so creepy imo). No one else could bring out the best of the movie or the character of the same name either as Jim Carrey could. Also, the casting, the writing, the pace, the humor and such are so memorable and funny. No wonder I would want to watch the movie over and over again. In fact, this movie was nominated for an academy award for best visual effects (but lost to another 1994 movie called Forrest Gump. BTW, that movie is pretty good) and Jim Carrey was nominated for Golden Globe award for best actor in a comedy or musical.

Yes, and the tommy gun scene was actually done by Kellaway in the graphic novel
I think this is a very special film for its cartoonyness in live action - an adult mask film with a violent story wouldn't have been as remarkable
Not everything has to be a one to one adaption
