    They worry about the scratches but not about the damage slipping can do to your animals.

    The video seemed to only be concerned about scratches from pet. However, that is just a really small portion an owner of dogs that live in their home are concerned about. I clicked on the video thinking it would cover floors that are not as slippery for dogs, one that is not detrimental to their health (ie....hips) and one that assist with pee for those with new puppies and are training. Those that I mentioned are the most important. AFTER all of that is addressed, THEN we car about the scratches. Therefore, the video wasn't truly helpful in the scheme of things. I hope a better video is put up in the future. One that is actually helpful. Oh and it would need to include the names. Otherwise, why post?!?

      True, I was looking for textured wood options that are safe for dogs as in they won't slip. Having a dog that has torn her cruciate ligaments in her knees and needed TPLO surgery, I found a whole community of people who have dogs that have had knee surgery and can't have slippery floors. Also dogs can slip and tear the ligaments in their knees with those slippery floors. So I would think that dog friendly floors would not only be durable from scratches but also less slippery to protect your dog from slipping and injuring their hips or knees.

    I was hoping for dog pee poured on each sample and left for 24 hrs and then a close examination of each sample...

    I thought they would talk about how pets can walk on these surfaces. We have laminate. My dog, a black lab, cannot walk on slippery surfaces at all, we had to carpet the stairs as she would fall.

      Kyra Renee seriously! I've physically looked and felt all of these types of flooring and every single one of them are so slick. My Great Dane would be doing the splits! How in the hell can they say these are even close to being pet friendly???

      They always look at this from the human perspective of scratches and crap. After having my dog injure her back after a bad slip and fall on the laminate floors in my new house, I’m pretty much going to carpet or carpet tiles.

  • @bodinian
    @bodinian 5 років тому +2

    I can say from installing it that tile is very labor intensive. Do a bathroom or a kitchen first before planning to do a living room on your own. Get familiar with just how much work it takes before committing to a large area

    Stay away from laminate real wood flooring if you have pet dogs. Vinyl is the right choice guys. Dogs urinate and will stain the seams and if they are low-end wood laminates, the "top finish" will peel off. And this was from a small 10 pounds dog, imagine a 30-pound dog, haha, complete destruction. You have been warned, guys

      Tile tile tile. I breed German Shepherds and the puppies are happy little potties. Tile is by far the easiest cleanup by far and it doesn’t allow pee to soak into it as quickly.

    Why can I not find tile looking floors in laminate for my kitchen which is 15x25 .I had a leak from my fridge and it ruined my floors.I love the ease of care of my laminate floors .Retired and they are easy care .I live in VA and no places seem to have anything here

    My 2 dogs managed to crack tile when dropping their dog bones. Unless the tiles were installed improperly and thats what really caused them to break apart? I would not recommend tiles if you have bigger dogs. Also if you have hardwood floors and the dogs might happen to have an accident while you are at work, and the wood is not sealed properly the wood will warp. So I guess laminate would be (my) best option? I will Never go with carpet. Lol

    might have been nice if they showed a couple of real, solid, 3/4 inch hardwood examples, not just engineered or laminates. Real floors are tried and true. They stand up to animals human and otherwise- 40 yrs in floor biz

  • @goaticorn8702
    @goaticorn8702 6 років тому +7

    Don't ever go with wood or laminate if you have a dog. The whole thing about this "scratches" thing doesn't take into account the pet's health. On a shiny, slippery surface your pet will experience hip problems earlier in life and it can mess with paws. If you can REALLY easily slide across it in socks or your pet does what you see in videos about them whining at new floor.... You're hurting your pet. If you're remodeling and have a pet you should always try to go for a matte or textured surface to reduce slippage and also have carpet runners.

I have been a flooring professional for over 20 years, I would be happy to discuss with you your opinions and experiences that prompted you to write such a scathing review. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help provide a more informative video. Thanks for watching and your comments.

    bamboo is a terrible option...it is not as durable nor hard as advertised. Our's is 10 years old, had a 25 year warranty, and of course the company went out of business. The finish is shot and you cannot refinish...DON'T buy.

    • @high-techflooringanddesign5485
      @high-techflooringanddesign5485  6 років тому

      Hi Cindy, Thanks for viewing our video and for your feedback. Please note that I did not recommend normal bamboo. I recommended Strand Bamboo. This is a much different product than normal bamboo. It is comprised of strands of bamboo mixed with a very hard and durable resin. Traditional Bamboo floors are very inconsistent in their hardness ranking. This is primarily because of the inconsistent quality control in the manufacturing process in China. The bottom 1/3" of the bamboo stalk is much harder than the upper 2/3's of the stalk. Manufacturers of high quality bamboo are supposed to use only the bottom 1/3 of the stalk.Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
