    The word 'High' in Vic High country is there for a reason. We've all been caught out by the steepness of it at some stage or the other. As long as people have a well set up vehicle and some off road experience they should be fine. Even then some steep descents used to give me the shivers. Loved the episode guys, awesome coverage.

    When watching your video (which I enjoyed by the way) I was a little surprised to see you towing trailers up to blue rag, it is a steep but beautiful drive. But I was even more surprised to see you leave talbotville and have lunch in dargo on the way to wonnangatta station. Maybe you have mistakenly thought wonnangatta river campsite (near eaglevale) was the station. (or the map did). It is quite a drive into wonnangatta from eaglevale. and you could have just done it from talbotville. Would have meant a more relaxing day, but perhaps not as much content :-) Glad you didnt tow those campers down hern spur. Wombat range is longer but safer with a camper. Thanks for the video.

    Low speed towing on steep grades with the torque converter constantly slipping will build tremendous heat and will destroy your automatic transmission. A transmission temperature gauge and a high quality cooler with its own fan are a must have in those situations? If you can go fast enough so the converter lock up clutch is engaged most of the time the heat is greatly reduced.

    Some tough tracks tackled well with camper trailers 👍
    As for the bit where you're taunting the invertigo challenge lady in the 200 series "we're in new cars . . Yours is 6 years old" . . . . . Holy crap it's a Toyota FFS . . . . . Say no more! Built to actually last 🤣😂 I'd have more faith in my 24 year old Prado than a ranger 😜
    Then the patrol is giving issues up top of the hill 😜

    We tow our LXV 5.8 MT caravan to the Eaglevale camp ground and use that area as our base.

    Towing trailers on Blue Rag or Wonnangatta Station tracks.. but why would you damange the tracks with those heavy rigs?

    • @MountainTrailRV
      @MountainTrailRV  Рік тому

      We didn't damage the track, we had no wheel spins to tear it up. The tracks get damaged by vehicles with bigger tyre sizes that don't have modern technology, as they can lift a wheel and gauge the track which causes deep ruts.

      Thanks for watching. We have 2 x DJI Mavick 3 Pro's. Sometimes we lose them and need back ups. We lost one at the start of the Cape York episode and we mention it during that episode! We also crashed one in the American vehicle episode, which we show at the end.

    Love the vid of the iconic Vic High Country towing those vans - (that petrol v8 is too noisy)
    Those tyre deflators can give you issues if the valve does not reset correctly. Try the Indeflate

    Not sure how one can get lost from Eaglevale to Wonnangatta ......all you have to do is cross the river and take the left turn at every junction. Pretty steep couple of tracks, great country to drive.

    Nick, a great trip and video production that's got me itching to go and tackle myself! Glad to see you back in a Patrol. Bought my Moonstone White Ti six months ago - tks, used your previous vid's as inspiration to buy and very happy it with the 13K km's travelled. FYI, the factory rear diff lock auto dis-engages when over 15km/hr, fitted the KO-GEAR override unit in mine. Curious your transmission overheated, perhaps with all the bar-work and big lights up front it's restricting cooling airflow - I fitted a Scangauge III and its sitting on the dash and can continually monitor Transmission Temp and many other things (oh and a gives me an accurate digital speedometer readout). I know it wasn't a review but three very popular tow vehicles rowing the same camper trailer, each with two pax on-board would be a great recipe to compare things like fuel consumption, comfort, driver opinions etc.

    • @MountainTrailRV
      @MountainTrailRV  Рік тому

      Thanks John, good to hear our previous vids helped with your decision to buy a Patrol. The tracks were really steep, we would definitely need a transmission cooler if doing these keen of tracks regularly.

    Hi guys, just found your channel and i thinks it's great except the constant music makes it unwatchable for me. I watch these type of videos to feel like I'm there with you but the music ruins that. I prefer just to hear the nature, the chit chat or the sound of the engines.
