    I loved my standard cab truck i used to own but the lack of storage in the cab is why i always get crew cabs now.

      @@JB_WhoWork As a single guy, I love my extended cab. Still get the 2 door look and a little extra storage for a cooler in the cab or long guns. Also works as a row of seats in a pinch, but not leave my guess too comfortable to ask for rides frequently.

    I like when you review lower trim level trucks that more people can afford . You should do the Ford 6.8 versus 6.6 GM gas Towing

    If Ford could ever get their quality control issues figured out, they have a winner in that Power Stroke. I would get the S&S fuel pump replacement and call it good.

    Drove one of these about 2 years ago. Only had about 900 miles on it. Someone traded it in for some reason. It actually rode really decent. Got to looking it over and the previous owner had swapped out the shocks for Bilstien 5100's. Definitely helped. Found a new one at McCombs Ford in Texas in Darkened Bronze Metallic. Looks sharp from the pictures. Little bit of a logistics problem from Indiana to Texas to see it in person. Definitely going to get the F450 regular cab pickup eventually. Thank you for the review and drive. Very helpful.

    I own 2023 F450 regular cab 2WD. Just completed a 3205-mile cross country trip with a 5500 lb Lance 1172 in the bed. Avg. mpg was 13.68 at mostly 60-62 mph on cruise control! Empty rides better than 2019 F350 regular cab 4WD I had. I am super pleased with this truck! This truck has 6216 lb bed capacity and my 2015 F450 4WD crew cab only had 5625 lb bed capacity. Just depends on how you want to use this truck.

      @@rich7447 I swear whoever started that statement was either dumb or was making a joke and every non mechanical person out there picked it up and started saying it.
      Like it's been around since 2011 when the 6.7 only made 800FTlbs and that rating was easily achievable with a set of new injectors and tuning from a 2000s era truck. Trucks that people had the factory manual in and just swapped out for an aftermarket clutch. For the 1200ftlb mark of the modern 6.7s there are still builds that people ran manuals in and had well over that, 1200ftlbs is cool from a factory vehicle but it was no where near anything new in the performance world.
      For the most part unless you had the truck purpose built as a sled puller the stock transmission with a clutch hold up just fine towing or anything else you want to do.
      Like I have a 6.7ps and an old 12 valve. The 12 valve has a 71mm single, pump work, ported head, and a suncoast build for the transmission, ect. it would do 60lbs of boost and between that and my 6.7 that old pos puts down more. That 6.7 has a 63mm VGT, oring and ported head, RCD cam, ect. so it's not even stock.
      Now those are two very different vehicles for different purposes. But that 12 valve is rowdy not a towing vehicle, but there are guys out there putting down more power than me or that 1200ftlbs and they are towing (Usually with compounds) with it reliably and they have manual transmissions. So this whole "a manual can't handle the torque" is a joke. However Automatics do one thing better. Preventing loss of boost between gears. Like If I was running a manual on that 12 valve and that 71mm it would be pretty lame. Since between shifts you'd have a good bit of lag time before the turbo would lite again compared to an auto.
      Now one of the things that the 6R140s and the 10Rs did was they were better automatics from the factory. Everyone makes fun of dodge for their automatics well I can make fun of the same ford transmissions of the same era. The difference was it was easier and cheaper to get power out of Cummins counterparts. So you'd see more factory grenaded transmissions, But I also had a 7.3 that I killed two OEM transmissions in on a slight build 180/30.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 21 день тому

      @@AbsolutionArmament There is a huge difference between what a custom built transmission will handle and a mass produced transmission is rated for. The G56 got up to a maximum input torque rating of 700 lb ft and was never put in the H.O. trucks with the 800 lb ft engines. If you got a G56 it had the 650 lb ft engine.
      There are manual transmissions that are rated for the input torque of a newer diesel pickup, they just don't fit well in something that small.
      If you can find a manual transmission that will fit in a pickup and is rated for 1,000 lb ft of torque I will be surprised.
      Remember that manufacturers are looking at the life span of the average unit at a given power level. They aren't usually looking at pulling sleds short distances on soft ground.

    • @AbsolutionArmament
      @AbsolutionArmament 21 день тому +1

      @@rich7447 Brother ignore those factory torque ratings like G56s that you brought up was weakpoints in the aluminum castings so manufacturing and sometimes they'd crack or loose 6th under stock conditions. But the ones that did survive can and have survived at that 500hp which over 1200ftlbs.
      That's what I was trying to say. There are people running stock with an am clutch. They run them on compound trucks which are way harder on the drive train. They are still holding up fine.
      And I noted the same thing you said in your reply. "They aren't usually looking at pulling sleds short distances on soft ground."
      That and drag racing is when people start building them. But towing and daily the clutch is the weakpoint and as long as you aren't slamming gears like you stole it they'll survive. If you treat a factory auto like that too it will die.
      Which there's a massive aftermarket for clutches. But if you are looking for a manual that fits into a pickup. Well just go back to a NV5600 and a 1 3/8 input shaft. It's already there. If you want it built just call a builder and they'll normally put it's rating something stupid like ccp doesn't even put a torque rating on it. They just say what ever you want to throw at it and give it a three year unlimited mile warranty.
      Here's the best part as an auto manufacture they totally could build a manual to hold those levels and still fit. Since obviously the aftermarket is capable of it. They didn't though and just said automatics only.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 21 день тому

      @@AbsolutionArmament Auto manufacturers go by the input torque rating of the transmission. This is why you aren't seeing manual transmissions in new full size diesel pickups. I know that they could build a manual that could handle the torque and still fit in a pickup, but there isn't a lot of incentive for transmission manufacturers to do that. The market for manual transmissions in the US and Canada (where the vast majority of full size pickups and the majority of all pickups are sold) is not large enough to justify building one. Even medium and heavy duty trucks are moving to automatics.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 3 місяці тому

      They do, but only in a chassis cab.
      The F450 pickup is heavier than the F350 DRW and has the same GVWR (both are class 3 - 14,000 lb GVWR). So even with the 7.3 it would still have less payload than a F350 DRW. The F450 Chassis cab (class 4) is available with a GVWR up to 16,500lbs.
