Gummed paper tape is the go-to for high volume shippers, but with low minimums, it’s accessible to brands of all sizes.
Gummed paper tape is activated with water and creates a permanent seal with a box. This makes it tamper proof!
To use it, you need a specific dispenser that not only activates the adhesive, but it makes fulfillment speedy.

It's misleading to say you can't use gum paper tape without the expensive machine. I ship dozens of packages a week and I made the switch from regular tape about 2 years ago and don't have a machine, I just wipe the tape with a damp sponge.
TeeStall why not invest in the machine then? Time is money.

Since I posted this I was fortunate enough to find a used machine for very cheap. I love cranking the lever but it doesn't make too much of a difference in time, just less messy. I buy Staples' tape, it's usually good if it has been stored in low humidity
@@TeeStall filament strap tape works well from my opinion, no need to moist.
My exact same thought after she said that..."no you dont" As a small business owner it's best to do it by hand. Once the business grows then you can invest in more high tech and even then they have cheaper machinery available

You actually can use it without a dispenser but it's a pain in the rear. Just use a sponge.

I got some gum paper tape but the tape doesn't stick down. The corners keep lifting! I spend so much time just adding more and more tape trying to keep the corners down! I'm afraid all the tape will rip off during shipping.

Uh, yes you CAN just buy the tape and get started. I've been using it for 24 hours now, with a tupperware filled with warm water, and a sponge to wet the tape. Place the tape across my lap, gum side up, place the wet sponge down at one end of the tape, while other arm simply pulls the long piece of tape upward so it all glides across the sponge (kinda like sewing with a long thread. (just now noticing in the comments, others who say the same haha lol)
Is the fiberglass reinforcement the reason why Amazon boxes have been in the news lately for not being recycled? I feel like a lot of retailers use the reinforced one for even the smallest boxes .. not cool!!

Might be too late to get an answer but I dampen with a sponge yet often have issues with it sticking in all locations. I even dampen the box...suggestions?
I have been looking all over UA-cam for a box taping video that Properly shows how to tape the three bottom and three top seems. The reason I am looking for is one of my vendors has the world‘s worst shipping department and they cannot, despite my instructions, properly take a box. I cannot find one, this is crazy.
May I suggest you add a video or add a section to a video demonstrating this? Your videos are by far the best and most full of energy that I have seen on how to package. If I have to watch another guy and probably tape a box I may go crazy.

Sure thing! It's obviously a bit more time consuming, but for shipping with low volumes, a sponge is a great way to get started. Pull and tear gummed tape dispensers are also an inexpensive way to get started.

I wanted to use this tape because it’s good for the environment but then you can’t recycle if it has reinforced fibre 🤦🏾♀️. What’s the point?

I'm curious, what's the carbon footprint/environmental impact of manufacturing the dispenser? How much tape would I need to use in order to make it (gummed tape + dispenser) more sustainable than, say, the regular poly tape without a dispenser.
You have to have a machine....no you don't. Seriously just use a paint brush with some water. Might be a little more timely but it gets the job done.
im not interested in the dumb machine i just want to use gummed tape
