- Legendary Scottish comics writer Grant Morrison recently completed his iconic run on Batman and is currently working on the new mythology-tinged Wonder Woman: Earth One. In this event recorded live at the Edinburgh International Book Festival 2013, Morrison discusses his remarkable career, Bat-Cow and an epiphinal experience in Kathmandu.

Had the pleasure of being in the audience for this talk. He stayed for 3 hours afterwards, signing anything anyone put in front of him, and giving every single fan the time of day. A real gentleman, and a brilliant comics writer.

I love to hear that. He seems so cool, I want him to be that much of a nice person. He does look like the type of person who isn't some jackass "I'm above everyone" celeb, but you never can tell.

I kind of laughed at the part where he talks about Superman growing up in a Nazi utopia "based in genocide".
Because, y'know, there's no genocide in early American history or anything.
(Which I'm sure Grant is aware of, I just found it a bit ironic.)
+americanslime I think he's said in the past that most western audiences cant conceptualize mass Evil unless its in a Nazi uniform. I liked his older 90s stuff more just because it emphasized the banality of evil, he seems a lot more reluctant to peel back the lid in his new stories. His stuff like The Invisibles and Bible John was so raw.
Honestly, the Nazi Superman issue of Multiversity would have been stronger if Superman had overseen the genocide aspect...his being absent and offended by it felt like a cop-out. People who commit evil genocidal acts usually think theyre in the right, after all.
