    Another great vlog Karen!
It just shows how subjective showing is! A lot of people think showing is easy and it’s SO NOT !
I do think Willow is going really well , he’s definitely more in his stride with a few outings under his belt.
I did think of your poor sciatica ,with how long they made you trot and canter on the go round 🙈 and the initial pull in from trot was rather novel.
Luckily there is always another class and another day, Willow is a star give him a kiss from me xx

    • @KarenBadrick1

      Thank you
Showing is really hard, we get very little feedback on where we can improve, at least with dressage you get a comment sheet and jumping you know where it went wrong if you knock a pole
My leg was killing me the day after 🤦‍♀️ I have never been pulled in from trot like that before, he had a really weird way of judging
Doesn’t matter what results we get, he will always be the one I want to take home ❤️ x

Thank you, Yes different judges always bring different results,
We came 2nd at this show last year and reserve champion, and won it in 2018 so I know we are good enough for this level but clearly this judge just didn’t like us 🤷‍♀️ x

Karen, I am a retired horse show judge from the U.S. and I have been on the faculty at a local University in the Equine Studies Program. I have watched your class several times and, without a doubt, you were my pick to win the class. Willow was the most consistent horse out there, your transitions were spot on and you are a beautiful rider. Please don't be discouraged, as you said, it's just one judges opinion. In my book, you and Willow were a picture. You get the trophy 🏆on my score card. Keep up the good work.

Never seen a class judged like that before, pulling in from the trot 😮 you definitely should have been placed higher going on what you said about the individuals, and from watching this there was one that was off the bridle alot, a C had a big wobble and one of the chestnuts put in a buck, but that's showing for you, perhaps the judge wasn't looking at the time 🤔, Willow looked to be going really well, nice and rythmical, brilliant to get the healthy weight award though xx

When we use to show my sisters coloured horses in hand up here in Scotland a use to say the judge had picked the winner befor they even went round,A mind at the Royal Highland Show a stallion got lose in our class and was trying to mount my sisters filly a had to let go or a was getting hurt,Well that stallion won the class and we got 4th cause a swear the judge felt sorry for us,A would never had let the stallion win a would had put it out for what happened but that's showing like you say,
A think willows a beautiful horse very unique colour should had won that class as he moved better than most of them in that class judges eh,❤

Always remember some counties are run by who you know..(look at the Kim Khardashian Lion King scandal this week: Tells you all you need to know)...so it is not about what you know or do. So you would never win no matter what you did! Dont take it personally chalk it all up to value experience and a lesson learnt...ready for your big show that is more important. Lewis & willow did a sterling job and enjoyed themselves and that is all that really matters at the end of the day x

Hi , your section D looks fantastic, just 1 thing that concerns me, is he has a crooked tail that is constantly held to the left. Which in showing , is not looked on favourably.
There can be many reasons for a croiked tail. To do with riders inbalance, injury, pain, horse and hound has an article written in 2009 on the subject of why a horse may hold its tail to the side. Hope you take a look as he may have pain when being ridden or in faster paces.

      Hi
      Thank you,
Yes I have spoken about his crooked tail more in my last video (get to know me)
I brought him as an unbroken coming 4yr old, and he has always had the wonky tail,
I have had many physios look over him, and he regularly has his saddle checked and no one can fine any reason for his wonky tail,
So it’s just been put down to it being the way he is,

The showing game is so political, even though your show looked faultless and others didn't get correct canter lead, some looked a bit gobby, the judge can be blind if the face doesn't fit, getting the vet's best condition is showing that you are doing everything spot on, 🎉

So I've done alot of SJ on a competitive level & non competitive lots of endurance riding & a bit of XC so I know absolutely nothing about showing...
But I know what I saw in that ring. There were alot of nice riders in there but there were atleast a couple that you rode far more elegantly than. Re the horses...so most were in double bridels curb chains etc etc....but the head MUSTnt sway from side to side...like I saw in atleast 1 horse...yours had his head moving forward with no swaying action at all ( which is the correct way)
Absolutely out of order & terrible judging placing you last....but you were really nice & professional about it Karen which I guess you have to be....❤

I love taking willow out and showing him off regardless of the results, I’m completely home produced and broke him to ride myself and I’m proud of that,

See, I don’t get that, with you said with other riders struggling to get the canter or wrong legging it, yet, your go around was foot perfect, and you got the additional rosette with healthiest body condition or yet, you came last…. Surely the condition of the horse should be taken into consideration. I do showing, and my mare being a grey traditional, some love her some don’t. It is what it is. I would’ve preferred the vet rosette over the class 1st rosette, you walked away with the really winner! Well done

Well that was some p*ss poor judging that pony with his wizzer hanging out should not have been placed - yes definite colour bias and size going for the smaller type - willow looked lovely you rode lovely I knew there was a reason I gave up showing - on to the next one as long as you had a fun day out that’s what counts 👍

      Thank you ☺️
Haha I’m pleased it’s not just me that thought the judging was questionable 🤨
I understand willow and I will not be everyone’s cup of tea but I certainly did t expect to come last x

Well what complete farse! You did far too much on the go round. Willow looked amazing and looked like he was going lovely. We have had some questionable judging this year and have just put the judge in our little black book. Mark that one down to experience and keep trying xx

Hi angel, im ma6br biased, BUT after carefully studying ponies counter bend etc, YOU SHOULD NOT have come last xx the fancy ones were probably higher, my ONLY concern is placing of his tail, crooked, and he does that in hand too.

      Hiya
Thank you so much, yes his bent tail may always go against us, we’ve tried everything we can to try and find a cause for it but I’ve been told nothing wrong and it’s just the way he want to hold it x
