Me too! My family had a story about a persistent great great grandmother of mine. During the civil war - she traveled by wagon from West Va to Haymarket Va to retrieve her husbands body for burial. He died following the battle of Haymarket. Took her 6 months while the war was underway - it’s quite a tale and made me interested in history from childhood😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for commenting too. Hard to believe what widowers had to go through to get pensions......then again it IS the government, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Memaw that was a real heartwarming story of the husband sending his wife a gift while he was away and the woman's creative persistence in finding a way to get what she needed and was owed. Reminds me of parable of the persistent widow in the bible and how to keep fighting for what we want ! That was so good, thanks for sharing :) ~ Anna 👍💖

I'm not sure if I should say this story was really cool or bordering on kinda gross LOL. No seriously, it's very interesting. Had never heard this story before. Honestly, if they had taught this kind of history in school, I may have paid more attention lol.
