This story was published in Home Journal in 1935 under the title Behind Closed Doors. Miss Marple solved the puzzle from her dining room, rather than her drawing room, because “in early spring I think it is so wasteful to have two fires going.” It was unusual for an Agatha Christie story because it was initially commissioned for radio, before being printed in a magazine, and was read out by Agatha Christie (who hated public speaking) in 1934 on the BBC.

So love Agatha Christie stories I believe I have read all her books my first was nemesis I was in high school I am now 68yrs . Now listening on audio all I have read and any I did not read. My daughter also read them all because I actually had bought them all. She loved them as much as I do. Now I listen to fall asleep or when am in a bad mood . LOVE these! Thank you! Just a little friendly feedback about the background music: it makes it difficult to track Ms. Stevenson's excellent narration. (Maybe it's the way my brain works-- couldn't block it out the music.)

Bye miss marple and poirot Being her final stories.and hercule died I imagine that shes ill or dies not long after just like when hercule poirot died. Its horrible and makes me feel sad when a characters comes to an end wont listen again. Just finish all of them again. I read poirot so i go onto something else time to move on.
