That’s a great explanation. The one thing I find a lot of shooters do wrong is hold on the line of the target- but you explained it perfectly you need to hold for where the shot and the target are going to meet. Another thing I see a lot is people setting their feet/ body position up as if they were shooting trap singles. I've always found setting your feet/body up to shoot the second shot means you get from the first to the second automatically, rather than it being a strain. Great video!
Nice explanation Russell, top tip mate. As a sporting shooter l use your method as a sim pair going away, hit the first bird fast to give time for the second bird acquisition for smashing.
Great instruction. I know some very good doubles shooters who hold their gun just above the house where they think the target will exit. They call for the target and pull the trigger and move to the second target. Have seen where this type of shooter pulls the trigger on a broken target from the trap and never realized they actually just shot at a no target.
Russell I have been told to use a “J” like move to come over and under to hit the second target. In your example you used a different method. Can you explain the pros and cons of each please. Thank you
I have never been an advocate of the “J” technique. I believe your barrel should be connected to your eyes. Your eyes find the 2nd target in the fastest possible way which is a straight line following the first target to the second. The moment you seperate your eyes and the end of your barrel you are inviting problems in my opinion.
Excellent explanation. I have seen instructor's teach a loop the gun over to the second target where they actually lower the barrel and swing over and up to the second target. Yet they tell you that they move their eyes to the second target and then move the gun. I try everything on doubles being a new shooter and haven't found anything that works for me yet. Thanks for sharing.

Very helpful. I tried your method today and did better. Will continue to refine now that I have some good direction.. Thanks.
Glad it helped!

In the days of ISSF Double Trap we ended up using a similar technique
Thanks for video good info
Thanks for that! 👍👍
I'd have thought pepper should be more effective anyway.

May I ask what kind of pattern you are using with your doubles shotgun. Guessing I am thinking 60/40?
That one is about 70/30
Wait. What’s with the salt? 😂
