Your suggestion of waiting until later to anchor to the wall was extremely helpful. Like others, I had no idea how I was going to get the measurement exactly right in the beginning. Cheers!
I cannot thank you enough and if you lived nearby I would be buy you a beer or two. I purchased 2X50 cm and 2 x 75 cm units. I "tried to follow the instruction on the first unit and butchered it, and then followed you installation. I went from 3 hours for one unit to 30 minutes per unit on the other three. The first unit, by hanging the bracket first was way off and then things got complicated with wires etc. This method was amazing- you should be teaching IKEA how to do these installs. Excellent job and thank you again.
@@HannahLagerman that is high praise! I think you need to give yourselves a hand! You’ve overcome more than just a simple cabinet it seems. Happy New Year!!

Thank you so much for this video!! I'm so glad I searched *new* IKEA Pax wardrobe and found your video, because all the older tutorials aren't relevant anymore. It was so helpful to see that it works easier to mount it to the wall after assembly rather than at first. Thank you!
Aligning the Unit before the bracket is such a great improvement over the stock instructions, especially if putting it against a wall or other spots with no wiggle room. Thanks for the walkthrough. i have two of these waiting in box i need to build for the wife.

I just got pax and was like what the heck!! Searching for how to videos and came across yours so thank you so much!! I’m super happy you decided to do video
Ah, thank you so much. I came to you tube to see if I really had to start with the bracket on the wall first. I found that idea to be terrifying too. Now I have the confidence to start the build.
Thank you for making this guide. I was a self-proclaimed ikea expert, having built many smaller ikea pieces. But when I opened the ikea instructions for this wardrobe, I was frozen in fear. With sweaty hands and trembling knees, I flipped through the pages, overwhelmed by the number of unfamiliar pieces included with this build. The idle boxes sat in my hallway for a week, daring me to challenge it. But I found your video and thanks to you, I found the confidence to confront the wardrobe. The boxes stared at me in disbelief, mouths agape as I whizzed through each step, completing the build in just a couple hours. The one thing I'm confused about though is I'm not sure why you needed to use a studfinder in your video, since your wife is clearly the best stud finder.
Excellent video. I’m struggling with the idea of them sitting on my vinyl plank flooring. The amount of weight I’ll have in mine certainly won’t be ideal for my floating floor. But I really don’t want to cut out the floor and have the system sitting on the subfloor. However, when I decide, you will certainly get another view lol
they're fine on a floating floor. A stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, couches, etc sit on floating floors--all on the same run of flooring in open floor plan homes. Please do NOT cut out your flooring, that's a recipe for future regrets.
Thank you for this! I’ll try it a let y'all know if it worked for me! Edit: It worked very well! It took 2 people 4-5 hours to assemble 8 units in varying sizes. The hardest part was putting on the top shelf. It helps to not tighten the screws that are securing it to the wall. Just have them a bit loose, and put the top shelf in. Once it's in, you can tighten the screws all the way.
Super helpful! Ikea instructions are terrible. It had mounting as the first step. Followed your hack to install the mount towards the end. thanks again for sharing this!
You deserve all the THANKS for doing this. I bought 2 units and wanted to cry when I saw the instructions. If you have a Venmo I’m sure there are many people like me who want to buy you a coffee or 🍺. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you so very much to you and your wife, for this video. Without this, I would've struggled through the manual interminably. The biggest flaw in the manual was taken care of by you when you ensured that the rail measurement was done by opening up the framework - I was absolutely sure the measurement would otherwise be off and the whole thing would be a mess ! There is, however, one thing I would love to know. Almost anyone and everyone has a floor board or a trim or a baseboard, which ensures that the back of the closet is never flush with the wall. No one should remove this simply to ensure the closet runs flush with the wall because the floorboard is what holds down your wooden flooring properly. In such cases, I would recommend mounting a flat long wooden plate right behind the rail. The wooden plate should have as much thickness as the closet is pushed out from the wall. This will ensure that everything now is set up correctly. Since I'm in California, I would also mention earthquake proofing of the closet in this installation process itself - and not put it off for later !
Wow, thank you so so so much! You saved me an enormous amount of frustration trying to interpret all the pictures. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 You are a very very good teacher. Thank you!!!!
I installed four PAX 2.0 frames (29 1/2" x 92 7/8") yesterday. Here’s what I learned: First Attempt: * I followed the method of putting the frame in first, then the metal piece. * This method was painful and time-consuming. * Keeping the frame in place while aligning and installing the metal piece was difficult. Better Method: * Measure accurately before starting. * Mark the first drill hole exactly 2 1/2 inches from the wall. * Consider the bottom baseboard trim when measuring. * If there’s no baseboard, measure 2 1/2 inches from the side wall. * The second drill hole should be 24 5/8 inches from the first. * Follow the height instructions on Page 8. For my 29 x 92 frame, the height was 91 7/16 inches. Issues with the Booklet: * The provided booklet doesn’t explain the images well. * I hope IKEA adds clearer instructions. Final Tip: * Follow the imaged instructions step-by-step as per the manual for an easier installation.
