I didn't know you were a Jacob Collier fan. I see you all the time on most of VoicePlay's videos. I thought you would’ve been the one to made a video of this. Lol.
How did you confirm the notes are real or tuned lower than they truly are? I trust your judgement that he has an impressive range of Bb1 to Bb5 (more realistically he has a presentable range of D2 - G5) He's also stated in the 12:30 interview he has a collection of low notes in different vowels during a time when he was sick and his voice was affected which allowed him to reach lower than he previously could usually.
Yeah I agree, there is a big difference between presentable range and total range, hence why vocal range videos are mostly for documentation and entertainment purposes. As for the distinguishing tuned and natural notes, It's a combination of sound and context. Sometimes you can hear the difference, sometimes you can't, and that's when you use enviormental clues (and also intuition). This isn't a professional video as I pointed out.
He's definitely a baritone. He said it many times. Collier rarely sings bass parts in the low register. People under estimate falsetto of baritone they are more versatile than tenors.
@@herringhome it was about 4 years ago when he said his usual most comfortable note is a D2. He can sing sometimes a B1 but collier is no where a bass he's a Baritone with a great range.
@@christianhenry4173 well i mean yeah, the interview is in this video, I just wondered if he has specifically said baritone or not, but I agree that he's a baritone - a low baritone
I’m not particularly a fan of his music or his voice, but the brain power behind it is super impressive. Nice video. Very helpful Could you link 10:55 pls
I’m a low baritone as well, I go from C2-C5 realistically but I can get higher or lower depending on the day. I don’t think I can falsetto as high as Jacob though. Absolute highest I’ve gotten is an E5.
yeah, his low notes are too weak to classify him as a bass baritone (I base this more on his G2, F#2 etc. than the super low notes, as a bass-baritone should be able to sing a G2 forte). But his chest high notes are also not particularly impressive. This just shows that, while he is not naturally gifted with a particularly exciting voice, but a really average one, he makes up for it with his skill and knowledge.
@@skydomingo6491 yep, I hear that. But it's not how true bass voice sounds, true basses have richer more overtonish timbre, a bit lower tessitura (workable range); usually less mobility in their voices and their higher range doesn't loose that power. Avi, the former bass from Pentatonix is a good example of a well trained high bass
We'll see in 10 years. Basses don't form until full maturity. He already shows more natural depth at his age than many lyric basses around their early 20s. I'm just excited for the fach :)
Been waiting for someone to do this
You and me both!
I've literally been checking every few weeks if someone had made a Jacob Collier vocal range already, and at last there it is

Bro why are you everywhere? 😂😂
He is amazing! Also I dont know if it seems just to me but some of his arrangements reminds me those from Sam Robson.
I was today years old when I found out half sharps were a thing
Him and I have a very similar chest range (D2 - G#4). He however is a much better pianist.

Didn’t know his could go below C#2
Lol, no one's talking about the 14:00 bit! That was amazing, thanks for putting in that much effort😂
Wow , was anticipating some thing like this to happen soon. Great!!

Finally someone did it!
😮
if anyone was wondering (because i sure was) the keychange at 2:14 is from blackbird when he performed at mit. :)
It seems like a simple compilation of videos, but really its a hard work💪💪. Thank you)
Thanks I wanted to see something like this! I think he is a low baritone

This is a young bass voice. Wait till he hits his 30s
More of a bass-baritone / low baritone
@@dmytrotsvyntarnyi799 you can hear the inevitable drop in tone/tesitura. He's already starting to sound more cavernous in his latest videos.

He can't access the 1st octave unless he's sick and he has too much upper register ease. Dark voice but not a bass
13:20 I love this bit so much
Is he a baritone?
Yeah, i was thinking low-baritone-ish
I think he is a bass voice
Does anyone know the name of the song at 1:12?
Make me cry
Where did you find that 13:20 sample?
It's from he won't hold you, i just made it louder.
@@herringhome Oh yeah that's what I thought !
this guys vocal range is really simular to mine
