I want to see a slow turn that plays a little with a delusional heel before he fully embraces it. Have him start becoming obsessed with winning and overcoming the odds so that he’ll do anything to retain the championship. Have him become brutal in the ring to the point of being worse than some heels, but then out of the ring he’s all smiles and keeps insisting that he’s just doing what he has to do for the fans. You could even do a little Jekyll and Hyde type of stuff where he doesn’t realize how brutal he’s being. Almost like full voices Orton in the sense of going unhinged during matches. Like imagine a heel that high fives kids and smiles on the way to the ring and then uses a chair to brutalize an opponent for 5 minutes straight

Cody turning heel isn't something we should even be discussing right after he has just completed the biggest baby face story in years, few years from now sure but why on earth would the only true baby face wwe has had since Austin turn heel?

Cody is a heel. His face gimmick is just that. The thing that made Cody famous was his heel run during the Bullet Club Civil War and his BTE stuff. BTE Heel Cody was peak.
They have been warped by "create-a-ppv" and "create-a-wrestler" modes in wrestling games, they think it's that easy and Vince for years was just making bad choices instead of running around on his feet all day, just like Triple H does now

I am one fan that is not in favor of the WWE/TNA crossover. We have many WWE talent not being utilized. Hence, Ricochet. Who just left the company because they weren't using him in the way that they could have. I don't know what to think about WWE programming anymore. And I'm a 30+ year vet.
Feels like only pieces of shit talk about ‘getting cancelled’ like that and Cody’s cloying, disingenuous face shtick is another layer of nah for me. Makes sense that Codelander is over for gen pop though
Two Points..
1. Using the phrase “getting canceled” is a red flag, but only when its some asshole wanting to avoid consequences by treating the idea as an actual serious societal problem. Cody is just using it as slang for pissing people off and getting heat as a heel. I think he's fine here.
2. I think it's unfair to call Cody a cloying babyface, especially lately. He attacked a restrained and defeated opponent with the steel steps after the match was over at Clash. Last week he jumped the heels, beat the shit out of security and had to ne escorted out of the building by the cops.

I don’t agree on the first point. Hard to articulate but I’ll try. I don’t think I know anyone that talks about getting cancelled/cancelling anything besides people that see calls for accountability as a problem or some weird freedom of speech thing. Worse, this isn’t the first time he’s spoken about it or brought it up during an interview. Not to mention equating being cancelled with being a heel just seems really tone deaf in general. Harvey Weinstein didn’t poison mist women or hit them when the ref’s back was turned. Kevin Spacey. Louie CK. You know, people that did fucked up shit and needed to be held accountable. But besides Weinstein who’s had to serve time? Alex Jones. Hell, Trump. Hundreds of thousands dead from the pandemic because of lying and posturing about masks. Actually cancelling anyone is so unlikely as to not exist and anyone that says otherwise is selling something or in need of it.
Cody’s a public figure so his view and perspective is likely very different. He probably gets tons of idiots screeching about the tiniest of things and figures that’s the same thing? I don’t know.
I admit I do pretty much tune out when he’s on screen now. Maybe he is starting to develop some nuance but copy and paste teary-eyed Cody promos for damn near years have made it difficult to give him the attention to find out.

The more thats done, the less serious it is in the minds of the general public, the dumber the monsters who try to use it to deflect the consequences of their actions sound. Turn their pathetic shield into a joke. Make these pieces of shit who cry "I'm being cancelled" sound as ridiculous as if they cried "I'm getting X-Pac heat!"

People were begging him to turn heel in AEW and he flat out refused and left because of it. Pretty sure he wants to be the new Cena. Can't see him turning heel in WWE for a long, LONG time. That's if he actually ever does.

Cody is wrong. There are 2 kinds of "heat". There is heel heat and get lost heat. Heel heat is heat so nuclear where you can't wait to see them get their asses destroyed in a match. Get lost leaat is heat to the point no one even wants to watch you ever again and actively turn the channel to anything else during your segments. See The Young Bucks and Jericho as examples of that.

He is super over as a face right now so now would not be the right time to turn heel. That would be equivalent to Stone Cold Steve Austin in 2001 at Wrestlemania X-7.
My prediction is that jey uso is going to win money in the bank him and Cody get into a fight and then he chases in on Cody to become champ

I have shared this on too many videos about the potential of Cody turning heel, but I don't think it is happening. A friend of mine who was in the first wave of wrestlers at the Nightmare Factory told me that Cody straight up told that group that he plans to stay babyface for the rest of his career, which is sad, to be honest. Cody's heel work on the indies, in ROH, in NWA, and in NJPW before the creation of AEW was phenomenal! He was a dastardly heel, and a relatively unique one at that. His feud with Kenny, especially, and what he did to Ibushi and turning the Bucks against Kenny was brilliant. Cody has the type of face that you want to punch, so seeing him as this tin can baby face that spouts American pride and such is simply boring. It's why the AEW crowd eventually turned on him, because most of that crowd was familiar with his heel work prior and got tired of the silly babyface stuff, especially "solving racism".
I really do want it to happen, but sadly, I don't think it will. Cody is meant to be a heel, so watching him in this babyface state is like watching Michael Jordan play baseball. Sure, you can do it, but c'mon. Go back to what you're good at. haha
