    Shouldn't they have been wearing rubber sleeves as well while working with energized lines?

      Not really Because they standing inside an insulated bucket and the conductors are covered with blankets

    I've never seen a voltage regulator on a single phase line.

      Orange Officer I’ve seen a few over the years, usually on very long rural lines. What was unusual for me to see was voltage regulators installed on a distribution system in a small town (a heavily loaded 2400 delta system).

    Have to be very careful with Regulators.....if one step off it can destroy the regulator and hurt you .....

      1049 here. I’m hanging three of them next week. A B C phase each on separate poles . Setting 3 H2/45’ poles in a row. Looking forward to it. In this case it’s at a radial and it’s for one customer. PSEG needs to boost their voltage from 13.2 to 13.8. Load side of their riser there is one pot that feeds a building. Well hafta upgrade that pot with one that has a tap changer so we don’t boost their secondary voltage and cook anything. You’re right, not many guys on the island have dealt with them. I’m actually looking forward to it

    I gotta ask you this quest because I can't find this info anywhere. I own raw land 300' from, end run pole & Distribution Transform on the pole. House is standard 1500' sq ft. There is room for more houses to be added to D. Transformer. (Area requires underground in this area now. I need to get power to the lot via underground: trench & 3" conduit & Handhole box at the property line, all of which I will do). Roughly how much work & (planning if necessary) are required to connect lines from D. Transformer to Handhold box. My guess is the cost of a crew coming out to pull the wire & connect to Transformer and into the box with there connectors. What I'm getting at is how much, roughly, should this connection cost me: 1) crew install 2) material 3) office cost, ie any planning etc. Informative vid. I hope u can offer some info on the install. Thanks

      Did you already talk to your utility and they are ok with you trenching and laying pipe? Not knowing where you livd figure in a 4 man crew at a rate of $40-$45 an hour per guy for 8 hours. Not including supplies.

    • @justsayn5790
      @justsayn5790 7 років тому +1

      This took place in Vegas. I know the time factors. I don't agree with your 8 hr time frame.I've had this done in AZ. It took about 2hrs. As for dig'n trench the est was $2,500 by a contractor. I could do it for trench rental & parts $300 for box & $300 for conduit.
      My problem is with the utility company trying 2 charge me $20,000 connect power from pole that has been in place since 1977. An owner told me a utility company put the pole up and connected for free. Just to get a new customer.
      What they r do'n in Vegas is Jack'n up the price for connection to keep individuals from building and thereby mak'n it so only Developers can build and build $500,000 houses and get higher taxes than if I build $100,000 house.

    • @ucfsub
      @ucfsub 7 років тому +2

      It's utility dependent, my utility would put a 4 man crew on it for a day, you really don't have a choice though. Your utility will dictate what and how it has to be done.
