I went to get a drink upstairs, my mother caught me and started nagging, saying I ain't done much to clean the house, tired of her shit I decided to do some work. I washed the dishes, cleaned the house,mopped the floor and even cleaned the ceiling. My mother still unsatisfied said because I can't cook I could never find a husband. I wanted to show her even if I learned to cook I'd still be single. For the last months I have been taking cooking lessons at one of the classes downtown. In the process I met a man. It was love at first sight. We're married and have two children. I never had to cook since he was much better than me. Today,the hubby and I came to my house for christmas. Through the whole night we kept hearing strange noises coming from the basement. My parents said it was an everyday thing and perceived it as a ghost. After opening the basement, the old room where my bed used to be was a computer. And on the screen, displayed was the picture of the alcorn state golden girls. Still on their way to the stadium. goddam!

Most kids gain weight their 1st year in college. My first year at Alcorn, I lost like 20 pounds. The campus was so spread out. That was many seasons ago. 😎

This made me miss Samuel Griffin. My first hbcu crab year was at Alcorn...fall 99. He would be all smiles to see so many black people in his band getting an education.

Alcorn is a band that has a certain polarizing charisma that has the ability to attract it's fans and haters peering with envy. It's truly amazing
Nothing is polarizing about a band that imitates JSU. I remember in the 80s and 90s when alcorn had an identity. Now, they're just a wannabe

@@regal394 The Settes have carried the same style since the 70's and inspired others. Yes, it evolved. If you were to look at clip of the Settes in the 80's, you will see them doing some moves that still can be seen today. Let's just call a truce a this point. The Settes have never stolen from the GG's.

Not only do they have some of the JSettes they also have some of the Alabama State University Stingettes, Texas Southern high stepping in here as well there are even some moves in here from Southern University . Every one of the squads from HBCU utilizes each others moves which allows them to be more flowing nd they can execute each move. I love it. All the squads are a beast.
Did you know that gg's are the 1st dance team before the schools you mentioned.

When I was a kid in the 70s, the Alcorn GGs were ALWAYS thick! I remember when they played Grambling a few times at the State Fair Classic in Shreveport and the men whistling and cheering them on. They were a force back then, in their gold boots.

My only critique would just be for the Golden Girls to be more uniform when it comes to their hair. It doesn’t matter if it’s straight, curly, long, or short, as long as it’s the same style.

Yep. The camera girl had better hair than the dancers. All this costs money so I hope the GG alumni help them to step it up. They are VERY good at what they do. Look forward to them having that added polish!

Was mich mal interessieren würde ist folgendes, ich hab schon einige Videos mit Marching Bands mir angesehen, aber es sind die Mitglieder der Band alles junge Amerikaner mit dunklerer Hautfarbe, ich habe bisher nie Menschen mit europäischer, oder asiatischer Herkunft bemerkt.
Liegt das an den Univeristäten, oder an der Bevölkerungsverteilung innerhalb des Einzugsgebietes der Schulen, oder findet einfach keine Vermischung statt? Also ich selbst, hätte da gerne mitgemacht.
Kann mir das jemand beantworten?

I like them, but they really need to improve on controlling their movements. They seem to believe that wild = energy and it doesn't. Sometime they dance highschoolish.

We always have suggestions for the GGs but the band directors look sloppy. The students look better put together than the leadership.
The bands in Cali are also pretty bland and boring. I'll take this over Cali any day.
You guys do know GG’s been wearing stuff like this at games wayyyyyyyyyy before it was a trend to wear this type of attire to a pep rally. It was a time when GG’s was rocking this a games while teams still wore sports bras and booty shorts to pep rally’s but of course as teams raised more money and gained sponsors they were able to get more complex uniforms therefore wearing stuff like this to their pep rally’s. Plus this was just their first half attire, second half attire was more complex.

These Golden Girls? Are they a dance team? I know they're not cheerleaders. It's not stepping. I just want to understand. It looks like they're having a great time and I know the crowd probably LOVES them. I just want to know what they do. It's not really dancing because it's not fluid and you can see the effort behind it. This seems more like Voguing with kicks. Pretty cool looking!

GG’s most definitely created that. Jsettes copied, remixed, and “cleaned up” originally created gg moves and counts to try and create a classier gg formally known as a jsette 🤷🏽♂️💯 I know my history so come try me but you better have facts to back it up.

I want to support the GG’s but the look is very unpolished. As a former D1 Coed cheer coach and dance coach , I would have neva eva let my squad step out in those uniforms. I have always stressed presentation. They are an entertaining dance team , yes they have some technique issues, but I’ll let that slide. Coach let’s work on the administrative and business side of coaching in getting a custom and collegiate polished look for these beautiful queens.

Usually marching in to the stadium isn't anything exciting. We usually play a song marching in and do a routine called "Super Soul" coming into the stadium. I'm not sure why they didn't do it this time.

Alcorn is a musical unit trying to find an identity. First, the drum majors has no style. The golden girls marching is too hard. The rest of the band march like a military drill. Once they establish a style, they will become a band.

The GGs bite a lil bit of all the SWAC dance teams. Its embarrassing.. There's not one original thing that Alcorn is known for. If so.. please enlighten me?? Even the MEAC bands all have different styles. NCATT and Norfolk are nothing alike. Prairie View finally figured it out too.. and now have their own footprint.

AND I actually know the history of both dance teams. GG's were first. But J-setting is world renown. 🌎 Secondly, J5 created that drum major style.. that is imitated by damn near every drum major squad. YOU need a fresh sets of eyes.. watch MEAC bands..ALL different!! Then go back and watch the SWAC.
