Nice build. Just beware that only soldering the big high current crimp connectors is not recommended. If you have no possibility to crimp them make sure to keep an eye on them and retighten the bolts holding them in place and make sure tha cables do not vibrate, but allow for stretching from heat. If for some reason (vibration, heat cycling) you get cracks in the solder bad things can happen fast when you pull high current through the connectors.
You are absolutely right! ❤️👍 Anyone, crimpers and solders, should keep an eye on their system. Added to your points I also check/feel for heat at connections when I know that I am pulling big loads. But please be aware as well. It is a 150 mm2 cable in a 24 volt system. The maximum length is 3 meter. And I have a 5000 watt Multiplus and do not run heavy equipment for long periods. Yes you are right. Electricity takes the way of least resistance. But the scenario I speak of is when the solder joint develops cracks due to vibration and stress the path of least resistance suddenly have higher than normal resistance and can start to develop heat which in turn melt the solder and creates even worse connection with higher resistance which in turn creates even more heat. Its a snowballing effect. What creates heat is losses due to current having to push through a resistance and the higher the resistance the more power losses. Its always converted to heat. 5kW @24V is still 200A which is no small current and have the ability to heat things up extremly fast. Yes I only mean well and spread this information so people are aware and build in the safest way possible. For many people, like myself, the RV is our home with all our belongings inside. Thank you for taking the time and leave a comment! ❤️ Today was a really hot day in Europe. We decided to sleep in the tent much cooler, had a nice sleep. 👍
I almost get emotional to see the quality of work you put into this. I would love to hear more about planning such a project: work order; design; planning the wiring and plumbing. It seems overwhelming. Would also like to know more about the legislation: is this classified as a camper now, and is that a difficult process? Also, what about operating costs when stationary?
Wow, comments like these make us continue making videos! Thank you! ❤️❤️ Many of your questions will be answered in later videos. Thanks for your advice on content/videos what you would like to see! I will take the time in explaining many, if not all, of the topics you are asking about. Thank you again and hope to see you more often!! 🥳👍
Wonderful! Only thing Id have done different is make a passthrough from the cab to the living area. Other than that love seeing odd vehicles turned into RVs/homes!
Yeah, a pass-through could be OK. I have left the space for it available. (Over the bed.) So perhaps I will make it someday. In any way, thanks for your support and question! ❤️👍❤️👍
Truly awesome. Obv she's not a stealth camper!!!!! But I'm wondering if there is any way to utilise the tarp to make it so. Yeah that tarp could certainly be used for stealth purposes! But to be honest, even now many people think we are a working-truck. And we never have any issue staying overnight for a couple of days. I guess, being yellow, Ugly has a bit of a fun-factor. 👍❤️

Hi Hank, I hope you do not mind a reply in KG? The maximum allowed weight of the truck is 12.000 KG. When fully loaden (incl water and diesel) we are at that weight. 😅🫣 Thanks for the support!!
@@uglysjourney Nope, I was thinking about that, but since Sunday night (vote results) my new goal is to escape somewhere else indefinitely. Nice country but immature and dangerous people.

Goedemiddag Sabine en Marco, great camper! Thanks for sharing. One question: how do you cope with all the different street toll systems for lorries across Europe? Greetings from Aken, Carsten
Good question, thanks! ❤️👍 And I understand why you would like to know...... We have the truck registered as a commercial vehicle and we have a contract with BP. They provide an electronic box for on the dashboard and that registers all in EU. It is perfect! I think out NL ADAC had also a sort of box. Perhaps in Germany as well?
@@uglysjourney Ah, alright. I was hoping that you found a way around the toll. After all, we are not using the lorries for commercial purposes. Thanks and good travels, Carsten
Surely you can ask, thanks for you question! The reason for the rooftop tents is that we (plan to) live in Ugly and it will also serve as a Hotel on Wheels. So people can rent a place to stay with us and sleep in the rooftop tents. Especially for cyclists is the idea. I am not sure the website translates for you, but you could have a look at www.uglysjourney.com 👍❤️
Great skills and nice for sitting and enjoying the outdoors, but it appears to be far too heavy to be practical? Seeing how much the rear squatted down from the empty container, it’s hard to imagine that with the elaborate build and large tanks that it is not super heavy. What is the total weight after completion?
Thanks for your comment and support! ❤️👍 You are right, it has some weight, but for us it is very practical. Total is 12.000 kg. Truck itself is 7.000 kg, the fully loaded container is 5.000 kg. Hope it is ok to give the numbers in kg?
@@uglysjourney Yes I should elaborate, I really like the build quality, & especially like the idea of using a shipping container, haulage mounted. Question- can it be demounted & still habitable?
❤️ Thank you again! No foul play intended at my side as well. So all is and was good. 👍 Yes, we can take it off and live in it. We need a connection to fresh water and sewage. Oh and a ground-pin. We might do that someday, when we get bored with travel and find a nice plot of land. 👍❤️

Great build. Now that you know how to build one - estimated 70k budget, imagine you scale this and take customer orders. I assume there is a market for this product and high level of quality.
Yeah, that is a great idea!! Get employees, a workspace, an office, a sales rep..... You are engineer ;) Very nice job, respect! I have a few question. How much cost to keeping this truck? Only keep, without fueling, and toll. (I think insurance and same other costs in NL for upkeep a truck). How you solved grey watertank and tubes from bath? Your job maybe in any transport firm? Thanks :)
That is such a nice comment! Thank you ❤️👍. To keep the truck on the road we have road tax and insurance. About 3000 euros per year. For maintenance between 1000 and 2000 euro. Gray watertank we have an outlet. We can dump it at special stations or where we would like 🤷🫣. No, I am not in transport, but I studied logistics and used to live in Rotterdam (container capital of Europe 😄).
@@uglysjourney thanks. In my country, same truck upkeep (insurance and other costs) are 2500-300 EUR / year. Plus toll, plus fuel, plus repair if need. I think, the bigger cost is insurance... :/ Good luck, nice trip! Im waiting to next videos.

@@uglysjourney I've been pondering on the similar idea of building an RV on the Ford Transit base which can carry about 1600kg of weight. When I roughly calculated the weight of the final product it was minimum 1000kg. More realistic would be about 1200kg. I was shocked because of how little remains to reach the maximum weight. Looking at how much wood and how heavy the vinyl floor on top of your container looks, I'm projecting it on Ford Transit and start to feel sorry for how much any transformed car has to endure for recreational purpose :)). Don't get me wrong, you did a great job. Since calculating the weight of the payload I've been thinking of how to maximum reduce the weight and still to maintain nice look of the interior.
@vitalie96 yeah, weight....it is a thing. Many of the factory campers on the road today are well over their weight limit.... And I was expecting to stay will below 12 tonnes..... That said I do not feel my build can be an example for the "smaller" builds. Just my watertanks alone is half the weight 🤪👊. Good luck in finding the sweet spot in your design! ❤️👍

Thank you! ❤️❤️
Many of your questions will be answered in later videos.
Thanks. I like. 🎉
Thanks for your support! ❤️👍
Very good job
Thanks! 👍❤️
The best build I've seen, by far. And I have seen many.
Thank you!! ❤️👍❤️👍
Bravo admiracii ❤
Thank you! ❤️👍
Ziet er goed uit. Veel plezier ermee!
Dank je wel voor de support! 👍❤️
Wow, they look great, very good work, excellent finishes, and now let's enjoy traveling, greetings from Colombia
Thank you!! Amazing to hear there are also viewers from Colombia. Crazy and thanks for being here! ❤️❤️
Wow I like it❤
Thank you! 👍❤️
So this is basically a container build on wheels! 😊
Yep! Only difference is that every 3 days we have a new backyard 💥👍😄.
Truly awesome.
Obv she's not a stealth camper!!!!! But I'm wondering if there is any way to utilise the tarp to make it so. That tarp, or a modified version of it, could be perfect for overnight stays in urban environments....it would just look like any old truck parked up...even with some lumpy bits!
Yeah that tarp could certainly be used for stealth purposes! But to be honest, even now many people think we are a working-truck. And we never have any issue staying overnight for a couple of days. I guess, being yellow, Ugly has a bit of a fun-factor.
👍❤️
Bgm music is awesome
👍
Thank you, respect from a fellow builder is always nice to get ❤️👍. Do you have a website where we can see your build?
Cheers to Swiss 🍻👍

this is the dream brother amazing build :)
Thanks! 👍❤️
Dude, this is awesome. Hello from Connecticut USA.
Hi Shred, you know what is awesome? Comments like that!! Thanks! ❤️👍
Magnifique.
Merci.
Et merci a vous!! 🤝❤️👍
Well done, mate. Determination and know-how.

dude i m welder mechanic as such as handyman but you are something else , good work congrat
oh i forget to mention you are rich too LMAO
Thank you! Comments like these help a lot to continue making videos! ❤️👍
Yeah, it is not cheap, you are right. Not being able to have kids helps and making choices where to put the money did the rest. 👍
Hi nice picture
Thanks! 👍❤️
Knap werk!
i love it... greeting from Indonesia
Thank you very much! Always nice to see where people are coming from 😄❤️👍
Hi, nice realization, there is one question though, what is the final weight ?
Hi Hank, I hope you do not mind a reply in KG? The maximum allowed weight of the truck is 12.000 KG. When fully loaden (incl water and diesel) we are at that weight. 😅🫣
Thanks for the support!!
@@uglysjourney Hi, I don't mind at all as I'm French :)
From what I saw, 12 tons fully loaded seems OK, thanks man.
👍😄 We are in 🇨🇵 now. Amazing country! Are you building as well?
@@uglysjourney Nope, I was thinking about that, but since Sunday night (vote results) my new goal is to escape somewhere else indefinitely. Nice country but immature and dangerous people.
@hankhulator5007 Poeh, that sounds both great and scary at the same time.... I am not getting into who is right and who is not, but I know I wish you the best. Please take care of yourself, whatever you do ❤️❤️👍
Please do a room tour!! Would love to see more in detail :)
We will certainly show the inside. We have something special in mind. Hope to see you then! 👍❤️
@@uglysjourney happy to hear that! Greetings from Germany :D
Really nice job. But on that very sturdy truck I would not trust the Ikea stuff to last long due to vibrations. Have a safe journey!
Yeah, a container build with IKEA, I also thought it would not go well. But all is good so far. And it will be easy to replace 👍😄.
Thanks for your thoughts! Please stick around ❤️👍
Brilliant job, look forward to seeing your adventures
Thank you! ❤️ Travel videos are planned indeed, but first we will do some other ones. Hope you will like those as well! 👍
Goedemiddag Sabine en Marco,
great camper! Thanks for sharing.
One question: how do you cope with all the different street toll systems for lorries across Europe?
Greetings from Aken,
Carsten
Good question, thanks! ❤️👍 And I understand why you would like to know......
We have the truck registered as a commercial vehicle and we have a contract with BP. They provide an electronic box for on the dashboard and that registers all in EU. It is perfect!
I think out NL ADAC had also a sort of box. Perhaps in Germany as well?
@@uglysjourney Ah, alright. I was hoping that you found a way around the toll. After all, we are not using the lorries for commercial purposes. Thanks and good travels, Carsten
@CarstenDegenhardt Ah, yeah, that I understand as well 😄👍. But for me it is; when I use it, I do not mind paying for it.
Complimenti , sei veramente unico !
E un altro! 👍😄 A core grazie mille! ❤️
Lots of work but tirnedp out beautiful 🎉🎉
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a nice comment! ❤️👍❤️👍
Geweldig!!! Ugly is Prachtig geworden! Ontzettend knap gemaakt.
That looks fantastic, well done. 👍. Can I ask why you have included 2 rooftop tents? Love the colour of your cabinets.
COMPLIMENTI!!!!
Thank you ❤️❤️
Great skills and nice for sitting and enjoying the outdoors, but it appears to be far too heavy to be practical? Seeing how much the rear squatted down from the empty container, it’s hard to imagine that with the elaborate build and large tanks that it is not super heavy. What is the total weight after completion?
Thanks for your comment and support! ❤️👍 You are right, it has some weight, but for us it is very practical. Total is 12.000 kg. Truck itself is 7.000 kg, the fully loaded container is 5.000 kg.
Hope it is ok to give the numbers in kg?
Erg mooi gedaan.
Respect, well done! 👍🏻
Thank you ❤️
top job.
Top comment! 👍😄❤️ Thanks!
@@uglysjourney Yes I should elaborate, I really like the build quality, & especially like the idea of using a shipping container, haulage mounted. Question- can it be demounted & still habitable?
❤️ Thank you again! No foul play intended at my side as well. So all is and was good. 👍
Yes, we can take it off and live in it. We need a connection to fresh water and sewage. Oh and a ground-pin. We might do that someday, when we get bored with travel and find a nice plot of land.
👍❤️
Leuk! Any way, bedankt voor dit fijne commentaar ❤️👍
Very nice, a proper rugged R.V.👍❤
Thank you! ❤️👍 It indeed feels rugged 👍
Wow. So awesome to See what you have done, AND, to use is. Wow❤
Your words feel so good, thanks for taking the time to let us know! ❤️👍
Your van is lovely , looks just like a cabin on the inside , so cozy, love it , so much work has gone into this van , well done , New Sub here , greetings from Wales
Welcome to the club! 😄🥳 We also love it being inside, but to be honest it is best when the rear doors can open. 🫣👍❤️
the fridge needs some more ventilation but very impressive build overall.
Thanks for the compliment!! ❤️👍 Indeed the fridge needs ventilation and it has 😄. Mostly from the back and a bit above and below. Thanks for thinking with me! 👍
Goed gedaan !
Dank je wel! Fijn complimentje 👍♥️
Leuk! Ga je er ook zo eentje bouwen? Kan ik ergens meekijken?
Wow amazing , looks incredible. Safe travels, looking forward to more videos 👍😊
Thank you! 👍❤️ More coming up for sure, thanks for your support!
Great build. Now that you know how to build one - estimated 70k budget, imagine you scale this and take customer orders. I assume there is a market for this product and high level of quality.
Yeah, that is a great idea!! Get employees, a workspace, an office, a sales rep..... Man that is not for me, but when somebody wants to use my idea and make it into a business, than I am open to talk 😄👍
You are not the first to make this comment. And I always love how minds of entrepreneurs like yourself work. There is a business there no doubt, but it is not me who is building that business 😄👍.
What we try to do is have little income (and little expenses), and with that have much free time and quality of life. We played the ratrace thing and we finished the game. 👍
@@uglysjourney I totally agree and can relate - there is more to life than trying to make as much money as possible. I've been on the Hamster wheel for the past 21 years and can't wait to get off. Again great job and enjoy!
Please take care, lots of love from us and much thanks for your support! ❤️👍
@@uglysjourney спасибо

Well done, y'all!
Much appreciated! Thank you! ❤️👍
Amazing and ispirational video. Thanks for sharing your build.
❤️ amazing comment, feel it inside. Thanks! 👍
Good part two video. Now living with Ugly for a few month's have you got a long or short list of items to modify.
You are right, always things that need improving. Solar panel setup can be more efficient. And we need a flyscreen in the side door as well. But all in all we are quite happy with the results.
We will make a video on learnings and further improvements. Thanks for the tips!
😄👍
Congratulations, I love your truck and how you did it.
One question, is the furniture from Ikea? The supports where you anchor the furniture, where could I get them?
All the best
The supports are part of the IKEA kitchen range. I would expect you would be able to get it at IKEA.
Thanks for asking and your compliment! 👍❤️
Thank you so much
Does it fit well?
Does the furniture not move with the vibrations and movements of the vehicle?
All the best
@romanomaximo6649 there might be a bit of movement (I have not filmed during driving) but we added some connections and screws. Untill now we do not see any loose cupboards or askew doors. Hope this helps! ❤️👍
I love it, but it's not going up Abano pass in Georgia. How close are you to your weight limit, and is the box Corten or mild steel?
We are on our weight limit when we are fully loaded with fuel and water!
And it is Corten steel indeed.
Thanks for your support and question! ❤️👍
How high reaches that pass? And what is the average gradient?
You will be amazed at where we can go with this.....not fast, not fast at all, but we get there 😁😁
@@uglysjourney Its insane. People die there regularly. I was just being cheeky. You dont even want to go up with much more than possibly a Unimog sized vehicle, but better a Hilux or similar. Bike is best. 2826m ua-cam.com/video/adQWVwFGjHQ/v-deo.html
But there is a lot you CAN reach in Georgia. You should definitely go see.
@maarten_notjustagrip Had a look at the Abano pass, looks amazing! Thanks for the tip! 👍❤️

Supergaaf!! Ziet er top uit. Is toch genieten denk ik zo. 😊
Dank je wel! Zulke opmerkingen geven stimulans. ❤️👍 Is inderdaad een heerlijk leven!
Nice ! How much does your build out weigh ?
Thanks! 👍 It is 12.000 kg fully loaded including diesel and water. 😬
great build😍
Thank you
Parabéns, belo RV .
Thank you! 👍❤️
You are engineer ;)
Very nice job, respect!
Good luck, nice trip!
Im waiting to next videos.
@bthomyka Thanks for being here! Do you live in a truck as well? Hope to see you next time!
@@uglysjourneyno, Im drop the key in 2018 (im transporting 7 yrs) and I was ride to bus. From 2022 jan to 2023 mar I was fleetmanager in bus firm, from 2023 mar to 2024 febr I was dispatcher in a small transport firm. Now Im search my new job and continous dreaming for my RV. In Hungary not a simple and easy country for buy and upkeep RVs, the payments enough to living, not more.
I sent my CV over 40 firms in HU, and I get more more "no thanks" messages...
I have knowledge (without schools) and I can't use anywhere... Its a hard mode of living.
I sent mail to you in a few months ago, where I write the toll of hungarian roads and a few points to look, if you want to see around in my country.
@bthomyka my heart ❤️ goes out to you! Hope you will back in a job in no time 🤞🤞🤞. You seem like a very nice person, so someone will see that I am sure. Good luck!!
I wonder what's the total weight of the container after it was finished?
Hi! Total weight, incl water and diesel is 12.000 kg. Which is also the total allowed weight 😬.
Why would you like to know? Anyway Thank! 👍❤️
I love it. Make one more and sell it to me 😂
Haha, that might not be a bad idea 🤣. Thanks! ❤️
That’s absolutely awesome my friend, hope to see it in the flesh one day 👌👍
Much love ❤️
What is the make and model of the ladder at 0:25 ? The extendable A-frame ladder... I've never seen one like that before.
Hi, thanks for your question and support ❤️ 👍. It is a foldable telescopic ladder from Aldorr. I will put a link below.
I would not 100% recommend them.
I was happy to use the ladders. I had 2. But please know they perform terrible outside. A bit of rain/moisture hinders the telescopic movement. I did not have the "pro" model, perhaps that could help.

Great job.........except for those IKEA products 😂😂
Yeah, I understand 👍❤️😜. But hé, I had to do the build fully on the streets. Sometimes you need to do the smart thing and not the beautiful......
