At 37 with an achilles tear, it just didn't make sense for JJ to continue playing. JJ was one of the best shooters in all of basketball during his era. πͺ

And when you are in your city youβre probably practicing or studying film. And then at home youβre tired from the rigors of being a pro athlete
@@shelovet0mmy his family definitely a big part of his decision imo. In his latest podcast he pretty much said that he felt like miss a lot of time with his family, and now looking forward to spend more time with them.
I mean he's only been bad (for his standards) for 1 season, I would've definetely given it another season or 2. But I feel him tho, he felt it's time to spend time with his family. Shoutout to JJ, great career!

The game turned into a more fast paced, less physical, 3pt shooting league. So he benefited greatly at a later age.

And now both JJ's are no longer in the NBA. We almost had them team up together in Dallas, if only JJ Barea stayed for one more season.
