  • When John Active was a little boy growing up in Bethel he used to listen to stories around his grandmother's table. Growing up with no TV or radio, Active, now 65, would sit there and listen as his grandmother, Maggie Lind, and other elders would entertain each other for hours with stories of the supernatural.

    I would love it if other storytellers made videos to share their stories. Its so important to save these wonderful peoples stories! Thank you, sir.

      Some stories, like songs are exclusively for the tribal members and need permission from village elders to be passed on. And when permission is given, it’s usually shared more intimately than posting on the internet

    None of the men in our family ever come to the table without a shirt. It is respect. They never walk around without a shirt on period! It’s respect.

    • @GoldTitanBoa917
      @GoldTitanBoa917 2 роки тому

      I never wear a shirt. As a confident well built man my bulging muscles give inspiration to those weaker than me, who could only dream of achieving the commitment & joy I receive on a daily basis. The respect being shirtless commands is a big highlight to my life. I love that my family isn't judgmental a-holes like your family is. Women get so weak in the knees they can hardly speak lose all control something takes over them when I flex the pecks.

      Man, that's either pitiful... or I'm missing next level satire.
      Anyway, the abbreviation of 'pectorals' is spelled 'pecs'. (Since it's apparently critical to your psychological foundation, thought you might want to know.)

    This would make a great horror short. It would be terrifying if the young Yupik dropped the food and went to retrieve and his grandma stops him and tells him never to do that and why, and then he looks back down at the food on the floor and sees it’s still where he dropped it and then he lifts the tablecloth to look under the table and there’s nothing there.
    He resumes eating with a skeptical
    expression aimed at his elder, and then suddenly feels a slight shift and hears the sound a wooden chair leg makes when it is moved with weight on it. He looks back down just in time to see the grey hairy hand over his dropped food as it and a long arm retreats back Under His Chair!

    The food suddenly dropping on the floor is something my old folks had a saying about, but in my own experience, the food I was about to eat dropped on the floor, and when I stooped to pick it up, I couldn’t find that piece of food anywhere.

    I've been in a bad way..one night camping the light from a lake Shack shown on the tent,a cat walked across the picnic table and turned to a raccoon and hissed at us..my x girlfriend went out of the tent and screamed an got back in,she had see a man beside the tent who drifted away..when explained what he looked like I could see vivid in my mind his appearance..3 days I seen him walking down the street. Then a fox started to appear in the back yard.

    Could have done with the narration sans the background audio. Manipulation of context. Just let a man speak. When you ask a white man to tell a story from his family do you play Celtic bard music? When you interview a black man do you play J.P. Hooker in the background? This is why I'm conservative, conserve equal respect.

    I love native American people, as a Christian I feel sad for them that they have had such a unhappy history, but I believe that's because they did not let go of their pagan ways, in witchcraft beliefs and practices, those things have kept them cursed for generations. If they only would embrace Jesus Christ as Lord they could free themselves from their generational curses.

    • @KendraEMoyer
      @KendraEMoyer Рік тому +2

      Christian white people can't figure out how to be happy with Christianity. Out people suffered due to mistreatment, not a lack of Jesus. Very callous considering all of the evil done by Christians.

    • @Isnortborax
      @Isnortborax 11 місяців тому +1

      Seriously? You must be immeasurably blind to the social climate of the world around you or just plain stupid. I respect others' ideas and values but to say that native peoples suffered because they had their own practices and faith and would not conform to yours is incredibly stupid. You nor I have any clue the true extent of the suffering those poor people went through by people who thought exactly like you do.

      Excellent post. Though I've known evangelicals all my life, their hubris can still be utterly breathtaking at times.
      Fwiw, I had an NDE at 19. It was garden variety, as they go: simply a 'tsunami' 😊 of unconditional love - a God without favorites. Millions of other NDEs bear testament to the same thing.
      Since I was born/raised in the deep south, now I find religion as a water droplet compared to the ocean of spirituality. To be sure, I've known beautiful people of great faith. They tend not to be the ones who wear the t-shirts. 😎
      Paz y luz ✨️ to everyone... from the ♥️
