It was so much fun digging out a selection of some of my favourite 1989-1990 Breakbeat tunes for this mix. These are some of the tracks that got me in to 'Rave music' back then (after growing up listening to Hip Hop through the 80s) and first heard them on mixtapes that were circulating at the time, featuring artists like Shut Up And Dance, Meat Beat Manifesto, 4 Hero, Renegade Soundwave, A Homeboy, A Hippie & A Funki Dredd, Blapps Posse, The Scientist, Frankie Bones & Lenny Dee, Genaside II and many more. So whether you were raving back then or just a fan of Breakbeat music and interested to hear some tracks from the beginning of the Rave scene, I hope you enjoy this new mix!

This is 100% superb. When I was 12 my parents bought me a little FM radio to "listen to the football" in my bedroom at night. Didn't take long until I was mezmorised by the pirate radio stations of London. Had no idea what it all meant, just remember thinking "I want this".
Started going out in '93...life changing shit...
Now I'm married with two kids, decent job etc, but I still *LOVE* this music. Off to Project 6 tomorrow in Herne Hill. Insane line up.

I was there bud. All them free parties in-between London and Bristol. Didcot massive, Abingdon, Oxford, Reading and Swindon. Stuck in the conveys for hours on the M4 and meeting up at Membury services on the way till we knew where to go omg.....Im 54 now and I feel like 21 when I listen to this mix. Bring it on. Never paid for one single party from 1990 onwards, out every single weekend till the CJB became a thing and that's why they was called free parties woohoo. Spiral Tribe, Circus Warp, Bedlam and Basement Records woohoo!. Yes, ofc I was at Castle Morten as well for four days lol x
