I sure wish Savage would come back with the model 24, they were the perfect survival weapon.
The s&w mp 22 lr in the ar platform. I can carry that, replacement parts, 10 mags and 10k ammo with space to spare
On the contrary you give up some accuracy with with but a regular 5.56 ar15 with a cmmc .22 conversion. In a pinch you could throw in .22s and you still have capability to shoot a much harder hitting round.
Probably an AR15 M4 with a CMMG .22 rimfire conversion. The M4 can be taken down upper and lower and put in a backpack and quickly reassembled using either 5.56/.223 or .22 rimfire. Otherwise an M4 along with a Henry AR7 both fitting into a backpack.
It really depends on your individual situation. Think about what YOU think is what you need. Make that your main platform. My ;suggestion, and the suggestion from many, many professionals, is have: a good defensive handgun, a pump or semi auto shotgun, and a rifle (for me a semi auto would be my preference, but my bolt action elk rifle would still be more than enough for most situations). a .22 rifle has a boatload of pluses, the main one is ammo is light and cheap. I would rather have a .22 then empty hands any day of the week.
For survival hunting you cannot beat a .22 rimfire. A 5.56mm would blow up small game, while 50 rounds of 5.56mm weighs the same as 200 rounds of .22 LR. The best survival hunting gun is the Savage Model 24 with the top barrel in .22 LR and the bottom barrel in 20-gauge. I'd shorten the barrels to 18".
Maybe an issue handgun with a Mauser 96 type stock to contain the gun plus ammo and a longer barrel to interchange with standard one giving greater accuracy and performance.
Possibly enhanced ammo to suit the longer barrel.
The handgun can be hidden and the rest discarded if need be.
That last one in the video nice but hardly concealable and where would one put that box in an aircraft or vehicle?
The Stephens in three barrels would be good 12gge can also fire signal rounds 5.56 for availability and the quiet 22 rim fire. Cheers.

I loved the video, but I would have liked to have seen some handguns in the mix. Maybe some good revolver's since that platform is one that many hunters take out onto the field.

i would take 7.62 ak over any AR as a "Survival Gun"
or the Sig Spear LT, they are not made as survival guns but they will work all day !
